He is considered one of the 5 best kora players in the world. Yet he still needs to play in the NYC subway. Give generously

Just wondering, is he related to Sona Jobarteh? She does concerts all over the place.

@@suzyvegalicious5646 No he is not related to Sona. However Malang Jobarteh is related to my first kora teacher, Malamini Jobarteh from The Gambia. In the late 1970s Alhaji Bai Konte and Malamini Jobarteh toured Europe and North America. Malamini Jobarteh later recorded with Dembo Konte, Alhaji Bai’s son.

People in the subway make hundreds of dollars a day so he’s doing ok.

I was going through a very difficult time in my marriage when this song came out, and I was feeling distraught, hopeless, and alone. It seemed like every time I got in the car and turned the radio on, this song was playing and tears would steam down my face. It was the perfect reminder to me that no matter what happened, my hope was in Christ alone and He would never let me down. Eventually, God restored my marriage and He continues to be my hope no matter what I have to face in this life.

This song was 100% not on the radio. Why are you making stuff up?

Never be distraught. God knows no hate. The Earth that we live in is ever forgiving and all life. It is very easy to be pleasant when life flows along like a song but the person worthwhile is the one who will smile when everything goes dead wrong.

I see here a possible ancestor of a music genre called "son jarocho" in Veracruz, Mexico, where lots of ships bringing people from Africa docked during the 15th century.

Maybe one or two candles….Why so many?Who is forcing him to play in the subways?Does he make a decent living doing what is obviously his love?He sounds like he has a good size audience. Is he sponsored?Arts council my guess. This man is bringing his own culture to the light of the world. As I comprehend it,hasn’t there been political and economic injustices in this part of the world. Is he a refuge?Good luck, fellow. He is the cream of the crop A blessing to the world.Peace

Gosto muito , apesar de não entender o texto, de ouvir músicas da África.
Esse instrtumento, kora, é bem interessante.
    Já ouvira antes e gostei.
É bom divulgar esse tipo de música !!!!!

It was so crazy to see this mask for such a situation.
He is alone and nobody around!!
Humanity was lost during those moments.
    Great player anyway.
    No mask anymore please.
