the birds singing along :) so beautiful, I could listen to this forever!
I love birds
I'm listening in 2023 in San Diego. Just went to kora concert at Coronado library & it brought me to tears...
J'adore !
The bird noises and baby noises in the background go so well with the music
I am praying that we can all learn to live together with the same harmony these two play together. What a blessing this is...my soul needed this release today.
praying right alongside you

sadly, people who want to control others don't have the capacity to partner, that is why "liberals" need to be challenged with thought and reason,,,, continuously! After a hard day of doing that, be at peace and thought with this beautiful music.
The sound of the Kora is magic but together with the cello, it's beyond that. Thank you to both splendid musicians.
The performance is alive even after it was showcased or staged nine years ago. What an astounding sound performance !
Stay blessed to play more....
Every time I hear any rendition of this duet, I weep. The difference between composition and play, the sound and the song, the words and the discussion, I am grateful for your mastery of voice, and the grace of your friendship. Even the birds rejoice.
That instrument played with such wonder by Sissoko...is beyond dream.
The way the music blended in with the nature around them was beautiful. These two are amazing musicians in their own right, and their energy as a duo is overwhelming
The magical union with the energy around them is palpable even in a concert recorded on video years later. The kids and the birds are all in harmony with them and vice versa. What beautiful musicians . Wow.
In 1972 I went to The Gambia to study the kora with Jali Nyama Suso. So yeah I’m watching this i the time of Corona 2020.
I'm from Gambia and I have heard of Jali Nyama Suso because he composed our national hymn.
When I lived in Istanbul, Turkey during the 1960s, I heard many genres of music, Turkish, French, English, Italian, etc. I knew then that the world would be united by music. It is the universal language. Since then, I have lived in India [8 years] and Japan [one summer]and Hawaii [14 years] and California [4 years]. Now I fully embrace all good music, including European classical and Euro-pop, Gypsy Jazz manouch, Bossa nova, Hawaiian, Jazz, Mo-town, etc.
We expect you to come again to Turkey.
Music is a unifying force and a universal language.
Yes!!
That's my feeling Eugene! Shalom!
Ahha !! Another Sonic Soul Cousin !! :D
Kesinlikle ✌️☺️
Which language is it ? It’s beautiful !
Imagine it’s the 14th century and you live in the city of Timbuktu. You just finished a long day of hard work and you walk into a tavern and hear this majestic music.
Then you all get publicly lashed for being in a tavern that serves alcohol
Bro, what tavern in 14th century Timbuktu? It was firmly Islamic by then.
@@frankscott1708 thats the peak time of islamic culture, people openly drink alcohol ,dance and read poetries to each other
@@yanjtian1514 Dance & poetry, yes. Alcohol, no. There was no time, no peak period where alcohol was consumed openly in Islamic Timbuktu. Perhaps you're equating Timbuktu with Konya or Balkh at that time. There was never an embrace of wine even among the Sufis of West Africa. Maybe they weren't fundamentalist in their approach to alcohol, but they were certainly ascetic and rejected the intoxicating liquid.
@@frankscott1708 noted thanks . although alcohol were frequently featured in islamic poetry at the time. The sufi for instance
If musicians were leading this world, there won't be any war because they will always create harmony out of differences.
as for the music critics, well, ha!
You got that right,it’s crazy how musicians out of all people we are the ones who really understand why is needed usually,SPIRITUALLY
but what creature is leading this world to hate everyone and themselves? hmmm?
...said Mr. Waters to Mr. Gilmour and Pink Floyd was history
Hitler played the piano. Think again, Mory.
One of those rare moments you need a super like button
Absolutely. Their concert last night outside of Washington, DC was magical.
I couldnt agree more! :-)
Yesssssssssssss!
you are right dank
I'm sorry Sir/Madam, I think you've been mistaken; I'm pretty sure you meant "cry of pure joy-button".
Such gentle music. And I appreciate the soulful connection between the musicians.
Graças por esta serenidade e beleza!
Even the birds felt this was a special moment
Beautiful cultural mélange and even the jackdaws participated........joyously. Thank you from the heart.
I adore the music fusions like this one... It is soul soothing and giving me a hope the humanity still exists. Well done, guys!
The birds really had something to the performance.
I wondered if I was imagining it! Were the strings squeeking? Searched the comments for reference to it! They are as magically mysteriously tuned into it like these two are to each other.
A pity about the child, whose parents were letting it continually talk, wasn't as melodious.
@@peterlovett5841 I enjoyed the child's voice and bird sounds....Natural setting enhanced performance for me.
"The Conference of the Birds"? Dave Holland, check it out.
They are a type of small crows "Corvus monedula"
When I am "losing my mind and heart in this nutty world" I humbly come to musicians like these. Namaste
This is really delicate and sophisticated. I love the pairing of these instruments, and the complex interaction of various cultures.
I grew up rocking and rolling. Every rock and roller on earth needs to listen to this! I never knew something like this existed. There is something new and exceedingly beautiful under God's bright sun. This music flows, spirits move in wonder. It ain't rock and roll but I LIKE IT!
The historical roots of rock and roll probably do go back to the Kora and Africa. Thanks for your comment.
Love how the birds got into it, and added to the delight too !
Why do people have to politicise everything in stead of appreciating the music for what it is -- an art form ? When I lived in Libya in the early 60s ( pre Kaddafi ) I had an Arab friend who heard me playing Israeli folk songs on my record player, and when I went to turn it off so as not to offend him, he said "No, leave it. It is good music." I said " But is Israeli music! " He said " Malish! ( Never mind!) Israeli or Arabi - Music is music. Leave it on."
👍
Music speaks to the soul... No race, no politics, no stereotypes... just souls.
@@currysues Well, it´s only fair.
Music knows no political boundaries or ethnicity. It is joyful sound no matter where it originates or who is making it. Namaste.
What a beautiful little story.
this is beautiful multiculturalism. this is what happens when u open your heart to peace and love onto a fellow man. and its delightful
Parfait😉👍👍❤
Divine Love ❤️
Ah, my sore heart breaks again and mends again - and again - this time in Seattle, Washington, one of the hearts of the covid19 pandemic that swirls around our locked-down lives. Thank you gentle-men.

Gracias mil!
Me encantó. Saludos desde Chile! 😍🇨🇱😁
I know, I know... it's subjective taste and all... but who clicks thumbs down on beauty?
this is really lovely. the world would be so empty without music and the other arts.
The sublime interplay here makes me realize how inadequate words are.
tout simplement magnifique!!! J'adore!!!
Most of the music (if not all of it) featured in this concert was recorded on the album "Chamber Music" circa 2011.
all souls wander in eternity searching for the melody they once heard in there more innocent hearts......sublime
"El idioma Universal" y la hermandad de culturas.
Está fusión es excelsa....muy hermosa.
Enigma, don't over think it forget the faces behind the instruments. It is Music and it is good. Sounds of Africa and Europre combine... Two talented men working at their art in harmony. Love it...
So beautiful.
Ballake's connection with his instrument is so beautiful ! It is like an extension of his soul. Also, the way they blend each other craft is the epitome of pure friendship a mutual admiration. Thank the universe for this !
Virgen Quinones what is the soul then if it is an extension?
@@EricWilliam-ol6kz Words divide us and cause us to question... The soul is one with all that is 🌞

This combination is like a mystic river. I let it sway me to places I have never seen before.
How amazing is it to think that these sounds are taking form out of nowhere. They were never there. Now they are.
Great moment of symbiose between 2 very greats artists :) Magnifique
inspiring combination of musicality and soul
this is great. the first track almost made me cry. the fact they were so in tune with each other. different cultures and backgrounds but same music language. I just wish the music was as loud as the applauses.
I like the little crows on the backround it adds something to it

That made my day after a stressful day at work. Anyway, I'm smiling right now. I love it!
Vincenzo my one love, thank you.
This touched my heart in a wonderful way!
Though we may speak different languages, the undertone of music embodies our common humanity that transcends race and 'perceived' origin. The same undertone allows for diverse toddlers, though seemingly unable to talk, communicate effortlessly in the playground. We are, as a people, one. Let's treasure it!
Une merveille ! *_*
Wonderful music , it does not recognize borders or races, could be an internal jorney to connect with a simple expressions from humans beings. Grettings from Colombia.
Fantastique. Je vous remercie. Vous ête des champions de la musuque ♥️♥️♥️♥️

It's a deeply moving example of the beauty of the possible blend of cultures and traditions. Weeping for the musicians of Northern Mali.
