- Rimmer plays a dirty trick on Lister by catapulting him into space with only a years supply of curry for company...
This is a channel from BBC Studios who help fund new BBC programmes. Service information and feedback: www.bbcstudios...
Well, after Rimmer, Cat and Kryten all told him they didn't want to use the time drive, Lister swapped Kryten's heads and removed the guilt chip, dragging them on a wild hunt through time for curry. It was the first time Rimmer and the Cat both had better principles than Lister, who never learned his lesson.
That's my issue with season 7, because the episode before this had them using the time drive but as it only moves you through time they were still stuck 3 million years from earth. Then in the next episode they can even specifically select what floor to arrive in a building
@@more-reasons6655 i learnt long ago you just need to ignore the many plot holes
@@more-reasons6655 If you're watching Red Dwarf for continuity and making sense of things you're doing it wrong, just saying 🤷♂️
It has taken 14 years for the oh mighty algorithm to bing me to Red Dwarf content. Oh, this weekend will be a binge of epic proportions.
If you've seen the entire episode, you know that Lister deserved it.
Was this from an actual episode though?
@@treborillusion Yeh its an deleted extended scene from S07E01 Tikka to Ride
@@Davz616 I see; shame it got deleted.
@@treborillusion it's part of the episode that's on Netflix
@@Davz616 There's two versions of this season, one is shorter and has a laugh track then you have this version that had no laugh track but extra scenes.
I always thought Starbug was smaller, like, the size of a single decker bus. But it’s pretty big.
Starbug's size has always been pretty inconsistent, but IIRC, they do actually explain at the start of series 7 that thanks to time travel shenanigans, Starbug got a lot bigger than it originally was.
@@rockoperajon also scale in space scifi is ussually problem anyway
Rimmers face @ 3:48 -- priceless.
Yep i'l give credit for Rimmer's dirty trick.
2:08-2:12 Rimmer: "We Might as well have a melon in command." Kryten: " I thought we had, sir!" Ouch... what a comeback by kryten!!
1:14 Lister finally realizing the error of his ways.
I wish they had included this after the crew beat up lister at the grassy knoll
I have every red dwarf series on dvd, i dont remember this.
it was a deleted scene only found in various special releases
I don't either.
It's from Red Dwarf Xtended special edition.
This scene is incomplete!
After Starbugs thrusters fire, Lister sits down and says he’s now completely alone, just him and 3 1/2 tonnes of curry.
After a few seconds, he laughs outrageously, smiles like a school kid and starts to tuck in!
Until he eventually realizes the gravity of the situation and starts rocking back and forth from the anxiety of the loneliness of it all.
I love how hes not even eating the curry, just dipping a napkin in and sucking the sauce off 😂
I always thought the extended scene was a completely flat note.
@@more-reasons6655 I always thought that was meant to be Naan bread
Love this, Rimmer is a Smeg Head though xD
It's Rimmer's revenge and Lister's comeuppance.
What did lister do wrong?
Wow, that android has put a bit of weight on.
Wait until you see the far more current seasons.
What episode is this one from? I don't think i've seen this episode.
Yeah. Lisster wanted to go back in time to Earth to find curries. Rimmer says no due the timeline been messed up.
Technically he's preserving it at this point, but I take your point.
What episode was this?
It seems that series 7 may have actually worked better without the laughter track.
What episode is this? I swear I've never seen this before
Tikka to Ride Xtended
I wish the Beeb re-issued all episodes with the option of disabling the laugh track, really works here. "Dave" channel should do the same on 10 and later.
@CoolDudeClem Deleted scene from 'Tikka to Ride'
Which episode is this? I don’t remember it. And why is there no audience lighter?
yea, this was a deleted scene from the end of series 7, episode 1. they cut it jus cos of tym, which sucks cos its a reli funny clip...but at the same tym, still one of me fav. episodes anyway =)
When was this i never saw it before
We're skipping the important question. Does he have a tap for that beer keg?
What episode is this? I don't remember it.
"Tikka to Ride", Season 7, episode 1
@@daybreakknight6495 no that IS when they go to Dallas, (edit) another thread says it's in the extended dvd version
What..no stomp
which episode is this
I thought I saw the whole episode but don't remember this scene, this is from "Tikka to Ride" right?
This is a bonus scene available in the Special Extended Edition on the DVD
@@MarcusSLazarus thanks
That's most of your supplies, and your main engines though. How far are you gonna get on those little thrusters and what must be meager emergency fuel supplies? Also, what kind of a design is that? If anyone brushes against this one giant protruding lever your ship is going to rip itself apart? The Space Corp was a pack of morons.
Well, they did equip every Express Lift with cyanide capsules rather than appropriate safety measures...
I don’t remember this scene!
It was never broadcast. It was part of a VHS they released in about 1997/98 where they included deleted scenes from series 7. Xtended.
errrrmmmm... a rightous choice on your part? :O
bad for u
No laugh track!? ughh no thanks

The beginning of the downfall of Red Dwarf. Utter crap
This feels weird without audience laughter. People bemoan it but I think it adds a lot to a show.
@@kieranhurst8543 The Office doesn't have a laugh track
@@RB-ki3jz And thank the gods for that.
@@RB-ki3jz yes it does you just don't remember properly. maybe you smoke too much pot
@@nepntzerZer What?
Yeah it's weird when the series started with one, felt more like theater and less a TV show.
"He won't even let me court-martial him, when I ask nicely." Pfft, best line EVER. XD
He's left all alone with the curry and vindaloo.
Well Lister is the only living crew member, he should out rank Rimmer. Infact Holy should have updated his files to register Lister as captain. Which means the changes against Lister, kochanski should have been dropped. Although Rimmer would still have been in hot water though.
It's sort of a deleted scene. It was originally released on the Series VII "Xtended" episodes (I had them on video). They were basically just deleted scenes incorporated into the actual episodes. They were Tikka to Ride, Ouroboros and Duct Soup.
I had the VHS.
3:52 I can glad they cut it from the BBC2 broadcast and although it's suppose to be Lister's comeuppance for what happened. But, if they had used this ending, no more Lister.
nah they just let him float in deep space for a bit and then went to go pick him up afterwards. Kryten's guilt chip wouldn't let him leave Lister and without the rear of the ship, it would be very difficult to land Starbug, let alone effectively pilot it at speed without its rear engines.
@@LaMortDeLaMusique Kryten and Cat would force Rimmer to help them rescue Lister and get back the rear of Starbug.
New to me, I've always* heard about the Starbug Separation bit....but never saw it, till now.
Too bad they didn't have the studio audeince view the 'finished product' for the laughter/applause overdubs like they did the rest of Series VIII.
Thanx fer the clip, m8...
OMG what episode is this?!
tikka to ride series 7 episode 1 extended dvd version
So that's why there's no laugh track!
Amazing they didn't use it. They actually spent money on those docking clamp effects.
3:49 Rimmer's revenge.
Thanks
When did Rimmer gain the ability to catch things as a hologram?
Series 6. They meet an acumulative hive mind called legion that converts Rimmer's light bead to a hard light drive.
Before he couldn't touch anything
If lister had a time machine he could just go to the past and save people from the radiation leak
wouldn't work. If he went back and saved the crew. He would have never been in the position to have a time machine in the first place. And if he didnt have the time machine. He couldn't save the crew. Thus a paradox.
If Lister went back in time and save the crew it would erase the timeline: Rimmer would never get brought as a hologram. Cat would never evolve from Frankenstein and Kryten would marooned with the skeletons of the Nova 5 crew for all eternity and never get rescued.
The consequences of time travel.
They didn't know where red dwarf was at this point so going back to it would be the same problem as going back to earth, you need to be on the ship and go back to time travel there
Based on the series 6 episode when they find the time drive anyway
Is this a cut episode? I've watched all 13 seasons and I've never seeen this plot once in me life
same here
It is the end of episode 1 of series 7 "Tikka to ride" enjoy.
@@JDBD13 well not the version i remember
What's the episode name?
what episode number is this
Why doesn't Lister use the machine thing to teliport hime back to the other part of Starbug?
He probably did, off screen
Because he'd rather stay where he is and eat all the curry
my mind is blown, this was a deleted scene? I guess tikka to ride did end kinda abruptly...
yes its on the extended dvd version not on the tv version.
@@nigelmurphy6761 And also on the VHS version.
I am glad they did not use this ending in the BBC broadcast. Rimmer, Cat and Spare Head 2 beating up Lister was Lister's true comeuppance.
And the Netflix version
Rimmer : He's right we dont want to have no Idiotic gaff's until can we make it till half four
Kyrten : Nice going! on the idiotic gaff's front sir we lasted a whole 5 seconds there 😂😂
How would Lister have gotten back?
Maybe Rimmer realised after a while life's actually dull without Lister around. Either that or they realised they left essential equipment behind in the rear section for Rimmer's hard light drive. Or Cat's suits and therefore had to go back.
Ah! I remember this clip! It's on the Xtended version! And... 1st comment!
As far as idiotic gaffes go, being deliberate makes it worse.
good for u
Doctor Who copied this in the series 3 episode 42
Not possible. Series 3 would have had Hartnell, or may Troughton as the Doctor. Further, it would have predated Red Dwarf by decades.
