Along with drawing (which I don't do with Blackwings anyway) I do a lot of note taking that includes da numbers as well. You'll love those pencils for jotting those figures! Thanks for watching and commenting!
My blackwing pencils that I have in all 3 models gave me less pressure while writing, and it writes legibly and dark. I don't have to push more pressure as I want to have dark writing. I would say that the blackwing is my new favorite set of pencils and I believe that it would rank #1 due to the superior quality of the pencil and smoothness should be rank #1.
Engineers and architects go through a lot of erasers....thats why they were created. its also there so it can be used by hand for more precise control of the eraser. My favorite sharpener used to be the free one Staedtler gave for free in their drafting pencil set.... Free things are good on accident sometimes.
6 years late on this comment. I’ve been using the BW 602 for quite a few years now but after watching these reviews, the Pearl is just what I’m looking for. I like a dark writing pencil and the Pearl just so sweet and elegant looking that I just ordered a box. Looking forward to the smooth write.
My absolute favorite Blackwing is the Pearl. Just the right balance of dark/soft and longer lasting. This also means I like to use other Blackwings that are rated as 'Balanced" like the Pearl. But the Pearl paint is nice and you can't go wrong with good looks and a really nice write.
I'm late to the party. Just bought all 3. Can't wait. I love that organic connection in the writing experience, and I do a lot of writing. I use Fountain Pens, Pens that fit the Easyflow9000, and now these pencils I'm very excited about. Thank you for the videos. They are still very relevant.
Thanks for your comments. I've been mostly pens for most my life. But just writing with a nice smooth pencil that looks good is a completely different writing experience that has shifted me to using pencils most of the time these days. Enjoy!
@@RixCanDoit That's good to hear. That's my approach right now as well. I was surprised to see so many pen enthusiasts (Gourmetpens, Penaddict.com, thegentlemanstationer). I didn't think I'd be so Hyped up about a pencil, but the thought of applying lesser pressure, getting darker lines, and using something so many praise so highly, as well as it being as simple as a pencil hits a bullseye.
I purchased three blackwing models last weekend. I also have a older Dixon ticonderoga USA made pencils from ebay. I will compare my older ticonderoga pencils with the blackwing pencils once they arrive. I would imagine that the blackwing pencils will surpass Dixon Ticonderoga Pencils as the world's best pencil.
Just ordered the blackwing 602 last night via pencils.com. I am also purchasing the black, original blackwing and the blackwing pearl on amazon tonight and yes it is amazon prime with free shipping. I can't wait to use these 3 blackwing models. My school is about to begin the fall semester in just one week from Monday.
I have had these pencils for about 2/3 of a year. I bought the Blackwing 602. It is awesome. I am in school and use it everyday for every class. I am paying a bit of money replacing these erasers. I ordered the Pearl and will come in tomorrow. Nice video though!!
+Jacob Reath I wish that I had these Blackwings back when I was in school. They are great. My favorite is the PEARL, because it is just between the super soft/dark Blackwing and the firm/lighter 602. I usually use up the pencil before ever using up the eraser. You must do a lot of erasing!

They are awesome pencils. I love them. A bit pricey but you get a high quality pencil and writing experience. You have a couple of excellent sharpeners to get a really nice point on those Blackwings. Enjoy!

Now you know that the Palomino Blackwing is NOT the original Blackwing...right? The original will set you back big bucks for each pencil.

Re the confusion around using the eraser before the pencil, artists love these pencils too, not just writers.
If you guys are interested in the Blackwing pencils, you need to know that you need to buy the special Blackwing sharpener as well. 🙂
"need" is a pretty strong word. I never use my Blackwing sharpeners as I have others that doe a better job. See my sharpener videos.
