  • Heart disease is a major cause of ill health and death for women in Scotland, and certain risk factors may have more of an impact on women’s risk of heart disease than men’s. Despite this, the awareness of women’s experience of heart conditions is limited and heart disease in women is not commonly represented.
In this short video we hear from three women, Trisha, Donna and Jill, who all have lived experience of a heart condition. Their experiences are different, but they share commonalities in the challenges they have faced and in their current attitudes towards living well with their conditions.
In this video, Trisha, Donna and Jill explore key areas related to heart disease in women, including:
    • Their experiences of heart attack and/or diagnosis with a heart condition
    • Challenges they faced afterwards, including mental health struggles
    • Whether being a woman had a particular influence on their experience
    • How to raise concerns with healthcare practitioners
    • How they live well now with their conditions

I would like to thank all the Ladies that took part. You are very brave and I wish you a long and happy life. To the producers I have shared this to a Facebook site about using the Portuguese hospital system, I hope this is OK.
