Wonderful. In my 20's I wanted to build a tiny strawbale cabin in the woods in Maine and gradually build it out to be around a courtyard of other rooms. Life got in the way and no matter how fast I ran, how hard I worked, how much I learned I never got to that home. Now at 65 and disabled I am working on rehabbing an old house in a small town and just have a very productive garden in the yard. Because of all I did do I can smell the forest, the green wood, the straw, hear the goats and hens, feel the plastering... along with the bone crushing fatigue, all from my warm home while I spin yarn.
You have built a beautiful homestead that will give you years of comfort and happiness. The land is peaceful and quiet. With the potential for so many projects, you will stay busy, healthy and happy for the rest of your lives. Stay blessed! ❤
Thank you, know you have inspired a family in the US to build our own. So much hard work went into not only the house but the filming and putting this video together and I am so so grateful. Thank you.
Thank you for making this video. It helps me dream, get inspired and get hope about living a simple life and building my own home someday. I've wanted a straw bale home for many years. Passive solar is a great way I would think to heat the home in the winter if the windows are facing south. I love how you incorporated the wood stove into the kitchen although I have though about incorporating a solar oven into one instead. People need to see videos like this so I hope you make more videos about gardening or other building ideas you do.
Your wonderful accomplishment is a true inspiration to those of us out here who are looking forward to doing the same thing. You put SO much hard work into your home, and you will definitely enjoy the fruits of your labor. Thank you for sharing it with us. I look forward to seeing more videos! 😊
Door jullie videos raak ik ook geinspireerd in Estland. Lijkt me heerlijk vrij leven daar. Minder regeltjes en heerlijk dunbevolkt land. Ga me er zeker verder in verdiepen.
What a wonderful achievement! Such a beautiful home. If you add a ‘skylight’ (vent) to your roof you’ll be able to let some of the summer heat escape (like the earth ships in Arizona)❤️✨
That's not an bad idea at all! We're planning to make an extension to the front soon, a climbing space for some grapes to grow so they can provide shade in summer :) Otherwise it's too hot!
Fijne zomer.
It is wonderful to see this retrospective of your progress. How far you have come. And how lovely your artistry is expressed on the land and structures.
This was very enjoyable and inspiring. Thank you for sharing your home and your story with us. I hope you will make more videos so we can share your progress on the house and as you create your garden. I loved the goats... we had goats when I was a child. I saw your lovely cat too and wonder if you have a dog? May God bless you and your husband and grant you the health to enjoy your beautiful home. Good luck from Vera in Northern Ireland.
thankyou for this amazing video. You have an incredible amount of will and patience. I was amazed to see you doing the wall rendering alone and totally by hand, wow! AND that during all this hard work you also made time to document your process into a fantastic video - incredible! I hope you are connected with other people. Making time for a supportive social life is also very important.
Cool well done! A passive solar straw bale house. All you need is a roof awning to block the sun in summer. A strip of wood 3 feet wide attached to the roof over the glass.
You both did a great job .very peaceful and the smell of the fresh green grasses around I wish both of you all the best love it may God bless and keep you both❤
Wonderful video! Thank you so much for sharing! I am working on a small strawbale house in my backyard in the suburbs. I'll do as much of it as I can while also working. You're totally inspiring and I loved your story of the process.
You folks rock 👍....great job 👏.....love your ingenuity and work ethic ...impressive as the results of your work are ...thx much for sharing Best wishes from Maine USA
I admire both of you so much. You kept going through the tough times and didn't give up. You're living my dream. Thank you for sharing yours with us. From Australia 🇦🇺 ♥
❤ sincere congratulations on your wonderful house and on your patience strength energy and imagination making your dream come true and building an exceptionally beautiful natural home!
Very nice cabin and property. The clay wall seems like a slow process, so congrats on finishing it. I can't wait to also finally move from Belgium to Estonia. In about three weeks, on novembre 12th that is. So hi there, neighbors! :P
@@The.Land.of.Slow.Living Hey! We survived winter! It's going good, I started a business here. We will be visiting Saaremaa this spring, we should grab a drink somewhere and talk. ;)
Heel erg knap werk ! Groetjes vanuit Oostende !
Wow, this video deserves much more views than this. I was dreaming about building a straw bale house the other day, and now your video popped up. Looks great! Good job. Reminds me of the passive house design where there is thermal mass added to the inside walls where the sun will be hitting (the side with the windows is positioned to the south). We live in a log house from 1865 is the finnish countruside, so not that far from you. We also do a lot of gardening and sustainability stuff!! I've subscribed to you, good luck with the youtube channel!!
Such a lovely comment, I'm glad you found our channel! Historical log houses are gorgeous. Good luck to you for the upcoming spring gardening season (can't wait!)
Fantastisch project. Proficiat.
Groetjes
First the insulated battery and solar system building. Then the posts with burning the bottoms for preservation. Then the roof and then vapor barrier floor. Excellent way to to build a strawbale building. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for sharing! Unfortunately where we live they have legislated that owner builders must hire a building certifier to continually inspect and sign off on all parts of the build, at great cost! Thus, it is still possible to get approval and build your own dream home, but still seems quite costly compared to the lovely job you have done! You have sacrificed, but you are doing it! Well done.
I love the fact that you have used so many natural materials, but may I ask what your expectations are of their lifetime? How long do you expect your wooden post foundations to last? Also, I assume that you don't speak Estonian. Do you experience a language barrier?

I have similar experience. A small house and garden in town now, and knitting! Beautiful to see this homestead.
Wow, so lovely. Many people dream of something like this, but few have the courage to actually do it.
Living in Belgium myself, this is a DREAM
I'm Irish, it's my dream too. I worked in Belgium before, nice people👍

I celebrate you! Such a beautiful journey you went through. Thank you so much for sharing and inspiring others 💛🙏

wonderfully done! Grapes would work well as a shade barrier for summer and they are perennial :D
Yes exactly what we're planning to do!

Awesome!❤
Where is this in the world... I loved it, thanks for showing the process of building your home :)
so nice
You are beautiful beings, I am sending you my energy. 🥰😍
Fantastic design and build, congratulations. Did you have to have planing permission approved before starting?
Inspirational. Thanks for sharing I’m working on something similar…😊 maybe I should film it ?
how big is the land? How much did you spend on it? How much on the house?
great job you did there :)
À casa de vocês ficou muito
aconchegante 🌿✨🐈✨🇧🇷
Aww so enjoyed that. May i ask how much land is in Estonia and cost of build please?
So good guys, can't believe you've done so much in such a short time. Any ideas roughly on how much the house cost you?
We've spend around 12000 Euro's for the house + interior :)
Like the building! I would of made it wider by at least 8ft.
I love the fact that you have used so many natural materials, but may I ask what your expectations are of their lifetime? How long do you expect your wooden post foundations to last?
Also, I assume that you don't speak Estonian. Do you experience a language barrier?
