Before I thought the same, then I realized that my pride was not worth 300 dollars difference for a lot of plastic, so what I did was start buying MOCs from alternative brands like CaDA, Mold king, TGL, etc; The last thing I bought was an Apollo IE from TGL, the T5012, at 73 dollars, it comes with gobricks pieces, an 8-speed gearbox, and 3668 pieces.
Yes, Lego is better but... I have bought the Chinese one because of the very steep price tag of the Lego model. I have finished building it today and I was impressed by the quality of the parts! Okay, not Lego quality but panels, liftarms are on par with Lego and I will surely use them on my MOCs! The pins, axles and gears are not as good as Lego but I don't have the same problems you encountered. Shifting works fine and doesn't stop as well as the steering which works fine (if you lift the car but you have to do that also with the Lego model I guess). Just keep in mind that it is even more important to make sure that the gears rotate without any friction! Thanks to a reply to this message I have edited this part. It is not my intention to say to buy this rip off model. Buy the real stuff if you really like the models like I did and keep on doing just that. Read below why I choose to buy this model.
I’m gonna be that guy - Yes, these are copies where the company did not have to pay or create via any designers for the car, the manual designers, the licenses to the owners of the car manufacturer or marketing... not to mention the quality. Buy what you like of course, but it’s plagiarism at it’s best. But mostly - If I had to say there was a company where the workers really do care about what they do... it’s Lego designers.. I don’t think it’s great to promote a rip off of their hard work. But hey... just my opinion.
@@MKu64 True statement and I definitely agree. Yes, Lego is better, they have to pay designers, licenses, its works as a charm and those are the reasons I have bought lots of Lego. What my problem with this particular set is (and with the Porsche as well and I suspect it will be the same with the new Lamborghini Sian, is that it just is a showmodel. It is virtually impossible to play with it and you can't see the mechanisms work. I really dislike that and that is not why Technic Lego has been out in the market. But hey, that's my opinion. The Lego rough terrain crane for example has even more parts then the Bugatti, costs €100 less, has a motor, is very playable and good looking and therefore, in my opinion, much more worth of my money. Hey to each their own. But to be fair a big part of this also comes from the fact that Lego won't do cool custom sets.
