I’m so happy for the guy. He’s made almost 9 figures playing the game and only now has he become an absolute crusher. He put up 2.4 war in 47 games….almost purely offensively😮
I haven’t finished watching this video but I hope you see this. I can see the Dorktown/Chart Party by Secret Base influence as soon as I started this with the intro. This is the second video i’ve seen of yours as well as the 20 Ks game with Scherzer being the first. I say this to say flawless video, man, this is the pinnacle of writing and visualizing how great these athletes are. I wish you good luck in the future with whatever other ideas you got.
I’m currently getting back into baseball, haven’t followed it since I was a young kid 10 to 13 years old. Your channel is definitely helping me catch up and fuel my new passion of being a fan for this sport. Keep up the great videos young man absolutely loving it
Coming off a predraft injury in ‘09, I spent 3 days with Wallenbrock before a workout with the A’s and it was home run derby. Workouts consisted of VCRs, sawed off bats, whiffle golf balls, and towels. Konerko and Helton were there that week as well. What a legend.
Seeing how Matt Holliday was able to turn this mans swing around. Im stoked as an O's fan bc we just drafted Jackson, with one of thr best "private" coaches you could have.
Padres fan here, Carpenter is becoming one of my favorite Padres players and he is currently leading the team in SLG, OPS and RBI, I wish he could play everyday but his defensive skills are an issue, I believe that in the future Carpenter will start most of the games at 1B because of the slow start the padres offense had, and they are eventually going to bench Ha-Seong Kim. Idk why I feel like the only Padres fan that is super high in Carpenter, he literally led the MLB last year in SLG and OPS.
Hey man, love the videos and have subscribed. Super excited to see what you do in the future. One thing I’ve been feeling and wanted to share. It really rubs me the wrong way how aesthetically similar a lot of these are to Jon Bois’ work. Same fonts, same music, same cinematography style. It feels more like a copy than an inspiration, especially considering that you monetize these videos. You clearly have some serious skill and I would love to see your personal style shine through. Just a thought. Keep up the great work my dude.
He’s gotta get his swing checked out. Guys don’t just lose 5mph off their max exit velo without mechanical regression. He’s not maximizing his strength.
How he did it is being in that juiced lineup. Plain and simple. He will have a hell of a drop off next season. Just like he had before this season. But still impressive.
The underlying stats don’t indicate a drop off. He’s lifting the ball, hitting it harder than ever, and his whiff rate is under control. He’s a really good hitter right now.
With Stanton as nearly a full time DH, it’s tough to carry a guy like Carpenter around on the roster. But if he likes the Yanks, I see no reason why they couldn’t bring him back for a year.
@@AndThatsBaseball your research is clearly good and you have a nice delivery, so you don’t need to copy him. you’re presenting interesting content, at least to an old baseball head like me. let it speak for itself
Happy for him to get a bit more success in the big leagues, but that did not prove he was the best HR hitter since Bonds.....or are we arguing that Shane Spencer was the greatest HR hitter of all time due to his first taste of the show when he hit 10 HR in only 73 PA, Bonds never had a rate like that in a season. Of course, he then went on to hit less than 50 more homers in the rest of his career, so was he the greatest and just ended up having a cold streak for the rest of his career, or was his first season just one of those things? Your video's title is clickbait. Your argument is not supported with enough evidence to validate your statements. The 2023 season, and the years immediately preceding 2022 are strong, strong evidence that he is not in fact the greatest home run hitter since Barry Bonds. Phil Clark hit .407 in 61 plate appearances in 1992, is that proof that he was the best hitter for average since Ted Williams? John Paciorek went 3-3 with 2 walks in 1963, does that make him the greatest hitter of all-time, I mean, he literally never made an out in the major leagues, how can you do any better than getting on base every single time you come to the plate? In the end Carpenter is a guy who had a hot streak, good for him. The fact that he happened to hit a number of homers in a very small sample size proves nothing....other than he hit a bunch of homers in a small sample size.
Yordan Alvarez is one of the best hitters in baseball. Yordan Alvarez isn’t a 36 year old man who hasn’t hit well in nearly half a decade. Matt Carpenter’s story is unique, it’s not just about highlighting how good he is, it’s about the context of his situation.
Jon is the biggest inspiration of mine. I figure that he’s no longer covering such mundane topics, so as I try and get better and search for my identity as a creator, making a product that reflects his early work is a good place to start. Plus Gerry Rafferty is a fantastic and well-known musician in his own right.
@@AndThatsBaseball ur good man “bro why r u ripping off the guy that makes the best stat/graph based baseball videos?” ur doing great with these videos it’s fine to have inspiration or even similar styles to guy it’s not bad to fit into someone else’s niche on the way up👍
Thanks man, I appreciate the support. I am self aware about this, and I will be finding my own style as I tackle some more ambitious projects later this year, but Jon’s inspiration will be present in my content no matter how far I make it.

Always like Matt because he doesn't wear batting gloves...that old school badass lol

It’s hilarious that this isn’t hyperbole

I grew up a Carp fan. Loved his comeback as much as I loved Waino, Yadi and Alberts reunion
I see Jon Bois did a pretty good job influencing fellow baseball fans. great job bro
Great video; I hear Baker Street in the background which Jon Bois used in his Lonnie Smith video. Little easter egg there?

Just found your channel. Amazing video. Great editing.
So excited now that he’s joined the Padres. Time to finally take them all the way!
Love the chart party style of videos
I wish we bought back the WB mason man. so exciting for such an old guy and held the lineup together for a bit. Wish him the best

Love the Jon Bois vibes but what really sealed the deal was looking over offensive stats with Baker Street in the background. Peak content
Absolutely robbed Jon for that one

That family is a phenomenal baseball family. Jackson’s younger brother is gonna be just as big of a deal if I’m not mistaken.
this scratches my chart party itch perfectly

Padres fan here. Carpenter sucks and so does this offense which is the worst in baseball.

0:31 there’s some what sir???????
Negro Leaguers, as in players who played on the Negro Leagues?
Cool to hear his story. All i know is that he's a brewer killer lol. Never liked seeing him up to bat in big situations
I want him back for the playoffs so badly
I really hope Carp comes back healthy and if he's hitting even like 75% as he was when b4 he got hurt the yanks line up is really deadly 1-7
If he’s able to swing a bat at 75% of his pre-injury level, the yanks need to find a way to get him in the lineup
I started watching your videos, and I literally just decided to subscribe today. I’m slow.
Better late than never
NBA streetball vol2 theme smacks
TROY & Today are both such incredible songs
It took 4 HOF level players to get Carpenter’s swing back…
This was such a cool story…..

Padres got a guy who will pay dividends this season.
Don't think so it's going to happen unless we dump a ton of prospects on pitching but it would be really cool to bring carp back to the cards as a dh.
He’s gonna be a free agent after the year so it’s possible they sign him to DH
He looks like Mattingly with that stash and helmet. Yanks won't resign him. They let alot of these older players go

It's crazy how people don't believe analytics.
Makes zero sense to me. People are just afraid of what they don’t understand
I want to know how many home runs he would have hit the rest of the season if he hadn't fractured his foot.
I want the Yankees to put him in the lineup tomorrow
This aged well lmao
His broken foot ruined my life
You have to stop coming up with good ideas
or don't, that's fine too
I mean half of this is just a video retelling of the Ken Rosenthal article don't give me too much credit
i can understand taking some inspiration from the goat, but you’re just straight up copying the jon bois format

This is how you cherry pick stats like a champ
My favorite part of this video is that the title is technically correct because of that
Easiest out around during the ALCS. As a Stros fan coudnt wait to watch Carpenter's futile attempts to make decent contact.
He wasn't healthy
Bro dropped Negro Leaguers with the hard R
Right, plus I don’t know why people think that’s not offensive asl
this aged horribly
Thats what happens to your bat when you leave StL.
Never heard of her. Wonder why that is....
You’ve never heard of Matt Carpenter? (He’s a dude btw)
Why do players regress when they come to the Padres? Carpenter and Cruz have been awful. We have the worst offense in the league. This is maddening. 😡
McGwire and Bonds juiced though
So Matt Carpenter must be the GOAT
@@AndThatsBaseball One season of being injured but hitting a few home runs doesn't make a player great
john bois 2.0
This is my ultimate homage to Jon’s videos
Come on man. Your a Yankee homer
Yes, yes I am. It shouldn't take away from how incredible Matt Carpenter's turnaround this season has been, though.
Not better than Yordan Alvarez or a number of other players

And he is hurt…
I’m aware, he got hurt while I was partially done with the video, I had to go back and change my methodology slightly
He has 15 home runs. 😂👍 big deal
In just over 100 ABs as a 36 year old who hasn't been good in half a decade, that doesn't happen
Uhh he played 47 games this year. So, not really.
Ya got me
Hope Yankees resign Matt Carpenter
They don’t even use him I’d be surprised if they re-signed him sadly.

Matt Carpenter, the guy who's earned $80 million more than u playing baseball

A month and a half later? Yeah, no. (and Barry Bonds* was a cheater)
Carp’s HR rate was actually preserved by the injury, so it’s still technically true. I can’t wait for his comeback this postseason.
