Hello, my name is E.K Mosley. The letters ‘E’ and ‘K’ are the initials of my first and middle names. I always liked the letter ‘E’ because it was my favourite key on the piano, and I liked having the initial ‘K’ in my name, because I found the words and work of Ursula K. Le Guin very inspiring growing up.
My surname ‘Mosley’ is an old English surname, that I believe came from Anglo Saxon times and means something like ‘man who dwells in a woodland clearing’. Since I currently live in a very wild and woolly part of Cornwall it feels rather fitting.
As a child I liked to play a game where I swapped some of the letters in Mosley with other letters to create words like ‘Monkey’ or ‘Motley’. It also sounded a bit like ‘Moly’ the Mole from one of my favourite children’s books, The Wind in the Willows.
