    Im from E.St.Louis. My GPA used to come home after the club with one. And I’d get up n go in his room po mouthin as he called it. But he shared EVERTIME. For Memorial Day I bought some but was waiting for the right video cus I KNEW IT WAS A PROCESS.
    THANKS FOR THE ONION TIP!!
    But I went n bought some in honor of Memorial Day n the memories I had with my WW2 Vet grandpa. He was also the Fire Chief in E.St.Louis. In memory of the fond memory of him sharing with me with white bread pickles onion n mustard!!!! On parchment paper. I bought some!!
    Since I found this video because I been searching for THE RIGHT ONE… you sayin St.Louis sold me!!! I will send pics. Tell your Mom THANK YOU!!!!

    I love fried tripe didn’t think people still ate this Oh my goodness mother dear I put potatoes on top of my pot i’ll try onion the next time I didn’t start eating tripe until I moved to the south👍 I would give $20 for one of those sandwiches oh my i’m headed to the grocery store to get me some right now!!!!!

    Beef tripe is one of my favorite part of the meat but I have never done it this and have not even thought about it! But it came out so well I wish I can give it a bite 😩! Thanks for sharing.

    That St. Louis for you: The only thing is when my grandmother makes it, she takes onions and actually puts them in the actual trike pot while it's boiling. And she let hers boil for about 9 hours . But other than that It's pretty much the same recipe. Nothing like a good tribe sandwich. St. Louis in the house

    I have never heard of this, but it sure does look AMAZING. The only way I've ever had tripe is curried, which is the the way we eat it in the Caribbean. Very nicely done. Thanks so much for sharing. Sandee

    I got some yesterday and I didn’t know I need to boil that long. It’s on now though I haven’t had it in over 30 years my grandmother used to make it. 😋 I hope my kids like it ❤

      Yeah to get them tender, but you can pressure cooker them too and cut the time

    I have tried beef tripe before. I cook it with beans . We add the beef tripe to the beans stew and eat it over rice. I never had fried beef tripe. I will give it a try. It looks delicious.

    Wow i love tripe its very popular where I'm from but I never had it fried. Those looks very delicious I will be trying this but will pressure the tripe to cut cooking time. Thank you for sharing.

    Being raised on a ranch/farm we ate a lot of tripe, never fried like your mother in laws however, I will be trying her recipe looks delicious

    Oh how sweet it is. Juana makes a great one. Over the years I've eaten many a tripe sandwiches. Back in the 60's I remember paying 15¢ for a sandwich

    You don't have to boil it that long to tenderize it. I soaked it in a baking soda and water solution overnight, rinsed it and boiled it in water and vinegar for only about 1 hour. It was tender and lost it's barnyard smell/taste. Saves a lot on the cooking bill.

    Wow that’s awesome. Never had fried. I remember once had tripe in fridge to make menudo but I was so hungry I threw it on the kettle with a little bbq sauce and put over rice. It was awesome.

    Instead of boiling for hours! Pressure cook for 1 hour instead ! Then fry and enjoy

    I use a pressure cooker and you can fraction the cooking time! Same recipe that this Saint Louis, MO man uses. Visit Tripe City if you’re ever in the LOU!

    My dad and my mom’s mom would bound over all this offal meats (mountain oysters, liver, brains, stomach and intestines, etc) I mess with tongue and sweet breads. If you have leftovers fried tripe you can make it into shrimp creole w/o the shrimp over white or chop it up into bite size pieces and fry it again super hard and throw your favorite Cajun/creole/ dry rub

    I soak mine in vinegar before cooking
    it gives the and extra pop of taste / flavor
    better with vinegar plus I don't make sandwiches I eat them straight from the hot grease better to me without the EXTRA I love that bare flavor

    I’m sure it’s delicious, I will have to try it this way, but why not just add the onion to the pot, with a touch of vinegar?…And you say milk, would it be okay to use buttermilk, heavy cream, or half and half instead ?

      Absolutely you can, and no as far as texture. Tripe is more stringy
