I love how each section of the game takes references from the 70's-90's and interweave them beautifully into the story. It's not references for the sake of it, but rather the references are used as a form of execution of the story via jokes from said references. I cannot help but applaud the writers. @@ElSandwich777 Heinrich was the reference from Alien and had plenty of explanation. If the original Alien lore applied, a queen popped out of him. Xenomorph Queens are born with limbs(even though they are little nubs), Xenomorph Workers, and even Warriors, are completely worm/snakelike (without limbs until they become adults).
Technically conker is from mario universe lol. Diddy is from same universe as mario and diddy kongs racing manual literally says that conker is friend of diddy and donkey kong who they met during their adventures.
It was one of the problems that Rare got backlash for. They took a docile character and made a rated M game for it. Conker was just featured in Conker's Pocket Tales which was rated E.
I read that Conkers Bad Fur Day was one of the very first games planned for the N64 and it was intended to be a lot more childish and cutesy. But development was tough and problematic and they were outpaced by the 3D platformer games that dominated the industry and shaped the N64 into what it is, like Super Mario 64 and Banjo Kazooie. Alas it was decided that there were too many platformers that are targeted towards children. And so instead of scrapping what they already created the devs decided "If they want a mature game, they'll get a mature game" and turned cutesy Conker into a narcissistic, sarcastic alcoholic. Poo mountain for instance was originally supposed to be a chocolate mountain.
@@solidzack Yes at first it was called "conkers twelve tales" which was the original kid friendly version. You can even find beta gameplay of it. Just search "conker's twelve tales" on youtube.
Having grown up with Samurai Jack and Avatar, I can't get over the fact Mako was the narrator for Conan the Barbarian. Insane people best remember him for his later work. Rip Mako Also, it's insane how reference heavy this game is. Not like it aged badly, just that going into this game and then most of the films after is jarring. Like how the opening for Clockwork Orange caught me off guard. Yeah, this entire comment shows my age. Lmao
Another reference: the music in the Rock Solid club is inspired by the vampire rave from the beginning of Blade, if you listen to them side by side you'll hear the similarities
Its Father Ted.Also professor Von Kriplespac is based off Dr.Strangelove (the way he speaks and being crippled),Don Weaso and his theme is based off Godfather and Buga the Knut name is based off Jaba the Hutt but there arent specific scenes from these movies that are also in Conker so I didnt include them.
@@gamingainz Father Ted, thanks. I only know it from that one joke. I know about Dr. Strangelove and Godfather because I grew up with those shows. Buga is a giant humanoid caveman with nothing special but ground pounds and bone swings.
British? How dare you, Father Ted is Irish. I know not a lot of people don't know this but the reason that and Mrs Brown's Boys (two of our biggest sit coms) are British produced was due to lack of funding in the 80's and 90's on RTÉ's part. We own the licences now but they still are associated with Channel 4 due to their starting place for funding. They were also meant to do another reference to the beloved short lived classic with a joke on Doogle originally with how you got your weapon (the small and far away joke is most likely the one they would've taken) for the sentient key. Also! The weasel Don (his whole sthick and character) is a reference to The Godfather, the Don that Mickey took over from is the character he's a reference to (cannot remember his name it's been a while). Alas, Rest in Peace to both Frank (who played Father Jack) and Dermoit (Ted's actor. He died from cancer which is why it sadly only had 3 seasons.)
its no wonder it was such an amazing game and to think of what it started out as and ended up being this masterpiece while getting underwhelming results upon release is a damn shame. at least its getting its well deserved recognition now even if it is late.
I think the problem was it came out pretty much near the end of N64 life cycle, everyone was already hyped for new consoles and didnt care for games for old consoles + the lack of marketing and promotion for the game also didnt help. I guess nintendo wanted to remain the "family friendly" system so it shied away from promoting this game. The remake on xbox did the same mistake by also releasing it near the end of xbox life cycle. Also the remake wasnt as good as original + it was more censored. Overall the original game actually had good reviews (a lot of 9s) and most people that played it also loved it but vast majority of people never even heard of the game so it didnt sell well even though it was overall a great game. Also a shame it never got a sequel because the sequel was actually in the works but it got cancelled.
I'm so glad I got to play this game as a kid because growing up with these amazing movies makes this game a masterpiece coming back to it. In my opinion, I love it the way it it's and don't think we need another Conker game.
If I was older I would’ve appreciated all these references But as a kid.. This was all just magic Now as an adult I get to relive the magic and be nutty while doing it
I like the original concerts bad fur day more than the new one. Inches new one they got cyber weapons, back then they had simple cartoony m16a1 (my fav gun)
I think know a reference that wasn’t listed. When Fangy walked out of the gate, reminded me of the scene where the rancor does the same thing in Star Wars return of the Jedi.
@@girlsdrinkfeck To be fair live and reloaded itself is already old (even though it aged well and still looks good even for todays standards )and its not accessible on modern consoles. Its only on xbox but there was never any digital release so the only way to play it is getting physical version of live and reloaded on xbox which isnt sold anywhere so you can only get it second hand from ebay and stuff so its not really accessible and its not officially sold anywhere anymore. I would like a remake that would be "definitive" version of conker which would be on all consoles (playstation, xbox,pc,switch) and would get best of both worlds from original and live and reloaded. Some things were better in live and reloaded (like controls) but others were better in original (like animations and character expressions that were better in original despite live and reloaded having better hraphics) + multiplayer was a lot better in original that had other modes besides war. I would love online multiplayer of that. Also imagine conker with grahphics on the same level as ratchet and clank rift apart.
Seriously, Conker is pretty much Rare's Duke Nukem in more ways than one. -Both started for kids, but their most prolific game was when it went adult. -The adult-oriented games are FILLED with so many movie references. Hell, they both reference Indiana Jones and Terminator.

I also never realized the Tediz were singing the Oompa Loompa song... granted, I never really played the multiplayer, but I laughed more at that than I should have!
I had no idea there were THAT many references!!!
Thank you for uploading. 😮👍
If the original Alien lore applied, a queen popped out of him. Xenomorph Queens are born with limbs(even though they are little nubs), Xenomorph Workers, and even Warriors, are completely worm/snakelike (without limbs until they become adults).
It’s really hard to believe that conked came from Diddy Kong racing, a cheerful Nintendo game
Looks like I've got some movies to watch.
Never realized the tediz were singing the oompa loompa theme when marching on beach, thats funny
Ooo cool finaly someone make one video abut this!!!!
Like 👍
Having grown up with Samurai Jack and Avatar, I can't get over the fact Mako was the narrator for Conan the Barbarian. Insane people best remember him for his later work. Rip Mako
Also, it's insane how reference heavy this game is. Not like it aged badly, just that going into this game and then most of the films after is jarring. Like how the opening for Clockwork Orange caught me off guard. Yeah, this entire comment shows my age. Lmao
I just realised that the roar in 23:00 is the same roar from "Jaws: the revenge" which is the same roar from a tom and jerry cartoon.
We can all say this is just a game made up of a bunch of parodies from movie scenes.😂 I think it's cool. And matrix scenes were awesome.
I first saw conkers Normandy scene before saving private Ryan. The horror....
Another reference: the music in the Rock Solid club is inspired by the vampire rave from the beginning of Blade, if you listen to them side by side you'll hear the similarities
We need remake or a fuckin sequel to this gen of a game
This game is such a classic, I’m so glad I got to play it at the inappropriately young age everybody should have lol.
Bro did anyone not say the guy lost be like "man where my arm at oh there it is now les go"
Priorities clear
This will always be my most memorable childhood game.
Thank you.
Subscribed.
Based off the comments it seems that there’s an endless amount of references in this game!
One of the signs where Birdy rests at says, “Feck Off Crows!”, which is another reference. Can’t remember the name of it, but it’s a British show.
Not even the game's ending could resist being a parody.
4:55 The look she gave her 💀:
Needs a remake on switch...
At least a release on n64 online dammit...
the Devs must've had a ball making this game. Just referencing every movie they like lol
Legendary game. Nice job putting all that together. 👌
1:49 “Doctor minty, is he like a bad guy?”
Great video, thought I already knew every movie reference but clearly I didn't.
Conker's Bad Fur Day referenced all those movies so very well! X3
when I was a kid I immediately knew the references for Saving private Ryan and The terminator and man was that a time!
Now i really wanna buy this game & play it. 💙
25:45 You really don't know what u have, until is gone... Gone...
GONE
A couple of these could be tied to common comedic setups, but we still can never be sure
2:16 the background reminds me of the ending theme of aaaaahhh!! Real monsters
Rareware and Nintendo - a tumultuous, beautiful partnership.
Good reference,s for editing this

A bowel movement.
its no wonder it was such an amazing game and to think of what it started out as and ended up being this masterpiece while getting underwhelming results upon release is a damn shame. at least its getting its well deserved recognition now even if it is late.
This game went from 12 tales to 100 movies lol
I never got any one of the other movie references myself, but the Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory reference was pretty obvious.
If I was older
I would’ve appreciated all these references
But as a kid..
This was all just magic
Now as an adult
I get to relive the magic and be nutty while doing it
I like the original concerts bad fur day more than the new one. Inches new one they got cyber weapons, back then they had simple cartoony m16a1 (my fav gun)
I just re-started playing this game. Man I remember when this came out in ‘01 when I was three. I called it “Qwuanka” lol
Not even a remake or sequel can top this instant classic
We almost had a sequel for GameCube,
what a loss…
I had no idea as a kid what a genuis this game was as i never played it
No vi la referencia a la película temblores (tremors de 1990) de Kevin Beacon.
30 years later ... finally i know... thanks (i never figure this out D:)
Is gruntilda from banjo inspired by the witch from wizard of oz?
She might be.
I think know a reference that wasn’t listed. When Fangy walked out of the gate, reminded me of the scene where the rancor does the same thing in Star Wars return of the Jedi.
I wish when I play conker the graphics looked that nice lol
5:45 immediately reminds me first ever level of Sonic Adventure (1999), Emerald Coast. Might be an influence here.
Thanks for this
It's like if a Zucker Bros film was interactive. It was also extremely fun to play, both single and multi player.
Need a remake!
remake of the remake ?
Why not lmao
This game was so much fun to play
I love the Kubrick references in this game
En efecto, es cine 🗿🚬
Fearless Vampire Killers ... Solaris ....... I'll let you discover them, they're very subtle.
Seriously, Conker is pretty much Rare's Duke Nukem in more ways than one.
-Both started for kids, but their most prolific game was when it went adult.
-The adult-oriented games are FILLED with so many movie references. Hell, they both reference Indiana Jones and Terminator.
I forgotten all these movies aswell havent seen any of these movies for over 20yrs now
