Think im only on my 6th car in 12 years. First 5 cars were all second hand beaters with over 200 to 300k miles. Just got my first performance car ever and actually bought the car from a lot instead of a family member. Was very lucky to stumble into a stock saturn ion redline supercharged.
I bought a new car within the last month. Wheels/tires, exhaust & brembo brakes all delivered within the same week of each other . No shame in starting & finishing the little stuff at the same time!
I've only had 2 cars with tint - 07 Cobalt had 35% sides and back and my current DD (16 Fusion in Ruby Red) has 30% sides and back and 50% windshield...it's so nice...I wanted 70% windshield just for glare, but they talked me into 50% and I think I wouldn't go any lighter in the future...very happy. The Fusion being a daily looks great with the tint, H&R springs/Koni shocks and struts, and 18" Konig Hypergram's in matte grey. It's slow as hell, but it looks decent. A few Steeda goodies for handling as well. As for exhaust...my Cruze (yes, you can laugh all you want) has full catless exhaust, IC, intake, BPV, tune, and a whole lot of suspension/handling mods. I have a few things left to do (wastegate, high voltage coil pack, port my intake manifold, and upgrade from H&R springs/Bilstein shocks and struts to coilovers and get some different wheels tires because I've been running stock wheels on lowered car for 7 years. Car is a little heavy, but it's still pretty fun - not close to fast, but it handles well and it surprises people who are oblivious to the work done.
I’m building a fun car not a scary fast one so I’m going to do BC Racing DS coil overs, bigger brakes with stainless brake lines (maybe dot4 fluid), good tires and some lighter wheels.
I want the liveries and bodykits from the 2000s to come back more than anything tbh. A lot of them flowed with the car's design pretty well (I'm talking about the good ones, not the $200 eBay full kit with a stick on wing). And yeah, the underglow was sick too. Ya know what, just bring back the "ricer" age, everyone was much more creative, and only wanted what they liked.
I think a good immediate upgrade is a solid double or single din radio or maybe even door speakers, also LED lighting on the interior and exterior make a big difference in the way a car looks
Pwrsonally i think peoples first "mod" should be general maintenance especially on a 10 to 20 year old car at or over 100k miles.
