Your attribution of the statement "GOOD MORNING VIETNAM" to Robin Williams is incorrect. The actual real life broadcaster of a daily military broadcast in VM (as portrayed by Robin Williams)was airman ADRIAN CRONAUER. You're wrong. The Gulf of Tonkin incident was fabricated to justify U.S. involvement in the war. The U.S. installed Ngo Dinh Diem as a puppet president in South Vietnam, advocating for the entry of American troops. The media often cites communism as the reason for our involvement, but the real motive was to access oil and exploit Vietnam's resources. Sadly, many soldiers lost their lives for a cause that was unjustified.

This video had me in tears.
Both my dad and my father-in-law served tours of duty in Vietnam. My dad was drafted, and neither of them wanted to be there. They're both ashamed of the things they were compelled to do. And seeing how kind-hearted and friendly they are to a white man dressed in military garb is mind-blowing to me. They're such warm people. It really is a shame what we did to those people. And for what?

Vietnamese people are very kind and hospitable. Back in the day my aussie friend went over with me to finally marry his wife there. He needed someone to break the ice and warm things up with his wife's family. Poor guy was nervous. So I did what we Australians do best. I grabbed some beers with them and threw on my laid back Australian culture and had them laughing all night whilst having a great piss up. It was a very successful night. I haven't been back there in a long time but most of the people I met were incredibly kind towards me.

Lucky him. My father was drafted and was in Vietnam for a year. He witnessed around 25+ members from his unit die, and eventually got severe Dengue Fever and had to be removed from the combat zone. The PTSD from the war f-cked him over for the rest of his life. ..... War=Profit for the rich, the poor get screwed over.

I've travelled Vietnam 3 months from south to north with a motorbike I bought in Saigon in 2018 and loved it. Probably one of my favourite countries, so much to see and the people are incredibly friendly. Hospitality is top notch, vietnamese ppl always invite you in for a cup of tea or something to eat. They are very generous and genuine people, free from any prejudices, I think we can learn a lot from them, just imagine some stranger would rock up in your backyard, don't know how many westerners would invite them in 😃

So true. Americans could learn so much from other cultures. The hospitality to strangers is incredible. The USA keeps building walls, demonizing other cultures. Unfortunately, Americans who never travel outside their own borders will never understand.

idk about shot but they would probably assume you're a salesman, or if you don't speak english then they will probably assume you're an illegal immigrant. under the right circumstances though Americans are very much willing to help others as well. they just have to work through their fears first.
