I absolutely could not stand Kelly with Dylan. They were a complete mismatch for each yet there was a fascinating and incredible connection that existed between Brenda and Dylan that is quite undeniable. Regardless, Brenda and Dylan would have most likely been the couple in the end had Shannen Doherty not been written out of the show. Like being together with Emily when Kelly's trapped in a fire or sleeping with another woman and lying to Kelly. They had the potential to be a real couple until the end of the series. The writers tore Brandon and Kelly apart by inserting Dylan. Enter Dylan exit Brandon. Sad because all Kelly was to Dylan was a sexy blonde who wanted him more than he wanted her. Dylan loved Brenda so much he kept running to her rescue long after they broke up. Kelly hated how attached Dylan and Brenda were. They had a closeness that Kelly never could understand. Kelly is all about sex. Brenda and Dylan were more. That's why Brenda will always be the true love of Dylan's life.

Kelly took advantage of that and threw herself at dylan and truth be told he always found Kelly very attractive. He was vulnerable and he took the bait. The problem was he was still in love with Brenda and would always be. Kelly and Dylan, beyond a physical one, never had a real relationship nor chemistry. This is another reason why they would fight all the time besides the fact that Kelly knew she took advantage of Dylan and that Brenda was the great love of his life and in the end that would never change. She also knew the fact that she was the just the rebound girl and would always be, but still somehow still wished deep down she could change that. Dylan never really picked Kelly over Brenda. He would just fall back into the comfort of knowing Kelly would be there waiting for him to come back to her and she would be there with open arms. In the end it was just easier then always trying to prove he was good enough for Brenda's to her parents. They once Brenda left for good I think he just thought he would let her follow her dreams, he didn't want to stand in her way, but thought she would always come home to him. Then once Shannon left the show for good, Kelly was just the next best option for the writer's to pair Dylan with, but again he never really choose Kelly over Brenda.

The only time Dylan chose Kelly over Brenda was in s3. Never again. DK broke up for good in s4, they were not even together that long. All they did was fight, disagree over Brenda, or have sex. There was not much depth to this relationship at all and it showed. After that, BK is the focus and BD have actual off-screen canon in London for three years from s6-s8, regardless of what s9 tried to erase. Even when Dylan returned, the writers dodged DK by throwing Gina and Matt in the mix. But DK were never even treated as this epic couple in the last two seasons because they were not meant to be. Brenda was not around so it was not a matter of Dylan choosing Kelly in the series finale. The writers were careful how they handled the ending. They wrote DK agreeing to give it a try again. There were no assurances that DK ended together permanently or got married. It was left open-ended for a reason. David and Donna got this big wedding at the end, over DK, so what does that tell you? Oh, and the corny spin-off was a joke, lol. The new CW writers and producers were completely out of touch with the original storylines and characters. Brenda and Dylan just fit together better than Dylan and Kelly. It would have helped to show the DK backstory with action (scenes, younger versions of DK rather than just talking about it) if would have strengthened their story. Dylan fell in LOVE with Brenda at first sight.

The 'sister' thing was a throwaway comment he made at Prom in season 1 - and that was Brandon trying to protect Steve because he knew he still liked Kelly. In the Pilot, Brandon was physically attracted to Kelly. It's no different from Dylan friend-zoning Kelly in favor of Brenda in season 1 but in season 3 he's suddenly saying Kelly is his soulmate. Things change in a show. The difference is that BK had a mature relationship whereas DK was mostly toxic.

Brenda and Dylan just fit together better than Dylan and Kelly. It would have helped to show the DK backstory with action (scenes, younger versions of DK rather than just talking about it) if would have strengthened their story. Dylan fell in LOVE with Brenda at first sight.

@@prasad9002 The creator Darren Star said the plan was always to put BK together but they wanted to wait until both had matured. Season 4 was that time. The 'sister' thing was a throwaway comment he made at Prom in season 1 - and that was Brandon trying to protect Steve because he knew he still liked Kelly. In the Pilot, Brandon was physically attracted to Kelly. It's no different from Dylan friend-zoning Kelly in favor of Brenda in season 1 but in season 3 he's suddenly saying Kelly is his soulmate. Things change in a show. The difference is that BK had a mature relationship whereas DK was mostly toxic.

To me they put Kelly and Brandon together because around that time the bed hopping storylines in most tv shows started to get common and expected of.
Yes Kelly did steal him but if Brenda wouldn't have broken up with him the second time he wouldn't have went to Kelly he would have stayed with Brenda

I agree this scene is better with the original music. They changed the music on the BH 90210 DVDs as well. The scene where Brenda & Dylan break up the 1st time (after the pregnancy scare) REM's "Losing My Religion" is playing in the background. When you play the DVD its some other song. Totally sucks!
