Whenever I think of Eartha Kitt, I remember her interview with Terry Wogan, she was playful, seductive, and emotionally raw. You could see her facade fading and wounds exposed. When she said, " A man has always wanted to lay me down, but he never wanted to pick me up. And the men that did have real love and affection for me, were the ones that never touched me." brought me to tears, cause I could relate.
She was so raw. I loved that interview
Wooooow that’s heavy… have to check that out
Why would a man who has real love and affection never touch her. I don’t understand.
The regret will rear its head via ones expression.
@@thebee8415 Maybe they were either too enamored and made her an untouchable goddess, or they were familial ties and they couldn't. Either way, it sounds very lonely.
I read her daughter's book not too long ago and it just made me love Eartha even more! Super devoted mother and very talented artist. She's one of my favs.
Same
Ok I'm french and her prononciation when she sings is AMAZING ! Magnifique ! She has something so unique in her beauty and her personality. Just stunning
I love her singing and in my not-so-humble opinion, she's the only person who should be allowed to sing the Christmas standard "Santa Baby".
Agree, my fav Christmas song. ❤
I agree 100% Santa baby is HER song.
How dare they touch it 😁
I agree! I cringe everytime I hear anyone else sing that song. Especially when I hear that god awful Madonna version in stores during Christmas time😖
Earths Kitt was amazing. She was so real & didn’t give a damn of what others thought. I love that about her. ❤️
In 1966, my family adopted a gorgeous and extremely vocal Siamese cat, and my father named her Eartha Kitty. 😉
Eartha oozed sexy and mystery ! She was stunning 😍 I love her laugh what a strong beauty! It was something so elegant about her! Thank you Karine! I enjoy these breakdowns so much ❤️ “Many men wanted to lay me down but few wanted to lift me up” Eartha Kitt
A queen!!! I just love this woman ❤️
OMG!! I ❤️ her! She's one of my favorite icons!
💕🌻 BEAUTIFUL SMART AND SWEETIE SMART ONLY ONE THINGS WAS MISSING SHE DIDN'T HAD A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
SHE DANCE LIKE A INDIAN WORRIER HER REJECTION IN HERE LIKE MADE HER SMART AND WISE I LOVE HER BEAUTIFUL EYES MY GRANDFATHER ALWAYS TELL ME I HAVE BETTY EYES
Great quote
Kitt's comments in response to Mrs. Johnson were brave and what certain people needed to hear. It was NOT that long ago, within my lifetime, when being a woman, being black, oiyee. This was before women could even have a credit card in their own name. Again within my lifetime. Younger people today I honestly don't think understand how recent that all was.
I guess people forget about freedom of speech unless it applies to them specifically!!!!!!!!
Ovastood, it wasn't that long ago. Yet some people want to sweep things under the rug because it hurts to speak on such topics.
With Roe stopped, we'll soon be pregnant, barefoot and toothless!
This woman never did anything half way, absolutely epic icon. You couldn't hear the name without thinking about the sexy voice behind it back in the day.
Oh my god yes!!!! She is one of the most iconic women of all time. How could such a beautiful, strong, admirable woman exist? There are no words for how amazing this woman was. Truely a wonder of biology and human grace. Also, um yes on the Orson Wells video. Idk if I spelled that right, but still, yes. Thank you for this episode and all the other ones you produce. Lovely🥂❤🌸🌼🌺🏵🌹
I love Eartha Kitt so much. She had something magical about her.
It is always frustrating to me that we don’t talk about her more. Every year for Black History Month my kids school create an homage to historical women of color who created change and sadly Eartha Kitt never makes that list.
Hells yes to Orson Wells! 😂 It'd be fun to hear your take on him. Especially the peas incident.
As for Eartha Kitt, an absolute Goddess granted to us to spend far too little time with us on Earth. Still my favorite Catwoman! She went through so much. She could've been bitter, and she wasn't. That alone could be seen as a triumph.
I should mention she's an icon for all of us mixed Cherokee kids too. She's an excellent example of "The best trees don't break or fall, they bend and stand right back up again."
What is the pea incident?
I discovered Eartha Kitt when I heard the song "Santa Baby" and I watched her perform on the movie "Holes" and as the wacky "Yzma" from The Emperor's New Groove... I doubt anyone can emulate her cat-like personality and Yzma-like talent she was very beautiful indeed she definetly stood-out in Old Hollywood 💯👌🏻
I love Eartha Kitt. She’s a performing powerhouse and an activist that I aspire to be in my own life. She was ahead of the curve in so many ways. My friend has a coworker who actually trained under Eartha Kitt and performs as a persona based on her. I’m glad more people will know her story!
I remember being 8 yrs old and looking at a cover with Eartha Kitt on Jet magazine. It is now 68 yrs later, and I
still remember her singing Cest si bon. As an African American I was so proud of her. . Her voice was so unique.
Eartha Kitt was truly something SPECIAL and an amazing talent. RIP to a LEGEND🕊🙏🏽🌹🌷
She was so ahead of her time with her natural skin practices, growing veggies etc, exercise etc
But still got colon cancer...
@@sallybrite1530you can lead the most clean, healthy life you can and still get cancer. Yes, you have a higher chance with a bad lifestyle but it happens to people that haven’t done anything to deserve it. Personally, no one deserves cancer.

"No! I don't have any regrets about it at all! Why should I be upset that she's embarrassed? That's her problem!"
And THAT, Ladies and Gentlemen is how you respond to Pilgrim tears!!!!
SHE ATE!!!
Loved it
Love your comment. The crocodile tears of white American women's control of black American women. Passive aggressive but VERY aggressive.
Preach
I love Love LOVE Eartha Kitt! I especially love how she stood up against the Vietnam war. President Johnson infringed on her 1st Amendment rights! She should’ve sued the family for that!
Jawline for days 😍 gorgeous woman, in and out. So sad how all these ladies have incredibly tragic backgrounds 💔
Fabulous video Karine! Eartha Kitt is one of my favorite people. I always thought her and Josephine Baker would have been besties. I love how she never backed down on what she believed in, spoke her mind intelligently, and always was FEMININE in everything she did, a DIVA extraordinaire. The epitome of glamour & raw feminine sexuality dahling!! Karine, you missed one MAJOR film: Boomerang with Eddie Murphy & Robin Givens with Ms. Kitt as Lady Eloise. Marcus Dahlingggg. Because of her I have been drinking beet juice lol. C'est si bon, bien sur. Rest in Power Ms. Kitt.
I would LOVE a video on Orson Welles! The way you talk about these stars shows your passion and the research that you've done, I'm obsessed 💖
Eartha is MY favorite 😍!!! Will never see her and not hear "Maaaaaarcus" in her famous cat 🐱 purr! The story about her and her daughter Kit at an amusement park is the most heartbreaking 💔 thing.
Julie Newmar and Lee Meriweather were wonderful actresses. But there is only Catwoman and that was Miss Kitt.
Thank you for this wonderfully researched video.
Wonder if you could cover Nichelle Nichols and Grace Lee Whitney sometime.
Thank you!
Oh! YessSss! Nichelle! I adore her!❤
Please do Orson Wells. He was a fascinating person. Ms. Kitt was a beautiful spirit. THE GREATEST CATWOMAN!!! I wholeheartedly agree with her views on the Vietnam war.
She was the true embodiment of femininity
Definitely, women today should be in awe of her. Being a woman and being unapologetic about it. What a woman, needs to be celebrated more than the credit she gets. ❤
No one sings with the sensuality and lovely cheekiness as Eartha does in Santa Baby, I love it. This women had a very strong energy. Very interesting woman that's true.
I would love to see keke Palmer play her in a movie I love Eartha she was great, beautiful and talented
Danielle Curiel.
The resemblence 💯
✨The resemblance yes is very uncanny. But she will have to start working on her voice and mannerisms.🫶🏽💯
Yes.
Absolutely adore her!!!! 💜 💜 💜 Amazing, talented, and just an exceptional human being.
I am so happy that you do this Karine. You are the epitome of class. Yes please, do Orson Welles and all the rest. People need to be aware of some of the who made this country what it is today.
I have a few suggestions also, if you don't mind.
Minnie Ripperton
Rachelle Ferrell
Isaac Hayes
Al Jarreau
Howard Rollins Jr.
Angela Davis
Harold Washington (first black mayor of Chicago)
Bernie Mac
I could go on and on but...🥰
I'm currently reading Eartha & Kitt by her daughter Kitt Shapiro it's a really good read. My first introduction to Eartha Kitt was in the movie Boomerang.
The only Cat Woman I acknowledge. She was hilarious and gorgeous in Boomerang (Maaarrrcussss, LOL) One of my favorite Capricorn people❤. She's so iconic!
“Oh Maaarrrcus… you shouldn’t have to blow your own horn.” 😮 Lawd!!! 😂😂😂😂😂 One of the best lines in the movie delivered iconically!
Big UPS for this tribute video to an amazing person, outstanding talent, and international icon. Kitt was the cat's meow. (RIP)
The way I still say "Pull the lever Kronk" at thee most randomest times still gets me because of her voice lol. But Eartha's legacy is amazing. I lovvveeeeee her sensuality, it is very inspiring and love her music. Santa Baby is ALWAYS played for christmas time.
My sister says that too… wrong lever kronk 😂😂😂
Growing up in South Carolina, my mother taught me about this Fabulous woman. Travel to France it was great to learn more about her there❤! Thank you for sharing!
She was one of the most beautiful and intelligent women to ever exist.
For me it was her role in Boomerang that was so memorable when it comes to the legendary Eartha Kitt. The many things that women had to endure during the Jim Crow -Era makes me want to cry. Many of these kids don't need African -American Studies since our elders have all the information. Thank you for the upload 👏👏👏👏👏👏
I loved her in Boomerang too! Multi-talented until the end.
Her relationship with her daughter was very sweet
She was the original Cat Woman. I love her spirit and her essence. Such a blessing to have watch her during my youth. A blessing to world 🌎
Another proof that some have to work twice as hard to reach half as far. I love Eartha Kitt.
Love, love, love her in ENG. She is so Beautiful and Iconic and it's so tragic that her career was derailed by speaking her mind and truth about what mattered most. RIEP MS EARTHA! ♥️
Eartha was done so dirty bc of Ladybird’s crybaby ass.
I remember when I first heard C'est si bon as a young girl. When I later learned that voice was also cat woman- it was a rap. I’ll love Kitt until I die.
I love her especially as catwoman. She speaks and moves like catwoman. And santa baby? Ah! It makes me think of fur coats and champagne while lounging in front of a fireplace while listening to her sultry voice. Saying that I love her is an understatement
I did not realize she was in The Emperor's New Groove!! I really like Santa Baby.
I love her natural skin care tips!
I'd love a video on Orson Wells. 🥰
What is her routine for skin
@@ladygemini5967 olive oil and garlic for blemishes!
@@BeatlesFanSonia does it help with dark spots?
Wow thank you so much for sharing so much I didn't even realize about Ms. Eartha Kitt!! What a totally unique special woman that she was and even though her childhood was so rough she rose above it and we should all celebrate her amazing life!❤
Thank you for covering my cousin, she is a whole mood. I'm related to her from her mothers side.
That’s awesome. Your cousin was an amazing performer. Her screen presence was magnetic!
One thing I noticed is beautiful people have the lowest self esteem everyone tells me I'm beautiful but I have never seen it... I am very hard on myself and it always stems from childhood trauma... I've been watching your videos nonstop because your voice is so soothing and I love your content... hearing that alot of women have insecurities makes me feel less alone in my life thank you for your hard work ❤
Thank you! Eartha Kitt is in my top 10 most iconic women of history.
My dad told me that when she came out with "Santa Baby," it was a HUGE controversy (especially at Christmas!) because a black woman _dared_ to be sexy and seductive...with Santa, of all people! Many DJs would not play that song on the radio, until years later! I always loved the way she could trill or "purr" in her throat on Batman...I always tried to do that, but just don't have the gift, LOL.
Eartha Kitt looks a lot like the mixed-raced south africans refered to as Coloured, in fact my jaw dropped because a few years ago i saw a "colored" girl who looked exactly like her and seeing her is just deja vu!
Would love a video on Orson Welles! This video on Eartha was very interesting and informative. I especially love how she was such an attentive mother. Talented lady! She reminds me of a mixture of Jackie O and Betty Boop!
Great video, do the Orson video!
There was something about Miss Eartha Kitt i just was drawn to as a teen. She is so bold and I love to see a woman who knows her worth and was a bad ass. She was such an overall beauty.
I LOOOOVE EARTHAAA. Thanks for the suggestion, next spa day/fancy dinner I’m throwing her music on. That interview where she cackles after being asked by the interviewer if she’d “compromise for a man”
And I’d be eternally grateful if you covered Orson Welles
I love Eartha but she was BROWN. I don't see where she is so light. She keeps saying she's mixed. I'm sure she is but extremely light I just don't see. I think lightskinned is Alicia keys or mariah Carey.
What difference does it make about her complexion?!! 🙄 who cares?!!
These people are all mixed race light skinned means lighter black people .
Love Eartha. I'm going to write a screenplay based on her life and direct it.
yes karine do orson welles breakdown next i'm interested 😄
Sweetie, you did a marvelous job with Eartha!!! Keep up the good work, so enjoy watching and you just make my day!!
I love that she played Izma because she really looks like her 😭 as a kid I loved that character just for her voice alone . Wow !
I live for your celeb breakdowns! Such a interesting way to hear stories and learn lessons. Can you consider doing some models like Bella/Gigi or other old school models. And other feminine figures like Kerri Washington and others!🧡
Bella etc con dom failure shits
I love just love Eartha Kitt she such a phenomenal, talented and beautiful woman.
She was WAY ahead of her time, on so many levels! 🙂❤️🌻
If there's ever an Eartha Kitt biopic Taraji P Henson should play her.
Love eartha💙💙could you also do a breakdown on gia carangi? Been obsessed w her lately:)
The one the only 🖤🖤🖤🖤, i didn't knew that was her playing in Emperor's New Groove. But I should've known 😭🤣😻
I can't believe you didn't mention the comedy movie she did with Halle Berry, Eddie Murphy, Martin Lawrence, Grace Jones, and Robin Givens in the 90s called Boomerang. Really good movie, and she was exceptional great in this film, which introduce a new generation to her beauty, history, and talent. There is a big gap in your research.
Not all of it is easy to see on the internet
She did a good job still. How many stars have YOU researched ???
@@Dhruv_Dogra It wasn't a thorough research.
@@swannoir7949 you didn't answer my question.
@@Dhruv_Dogra Plenty ... Enough to know that she didn't do a thorough research. And acting was my thing at one time, plus, I've seen and read everything about Eartha Kitt that's out there. Now that I just answered your question, stfu!
I’m sorry to say that whenever I hear of Eartha Kitt, I think of “Earnest Scared Stupid”. That was the first time I ever saw her as a child and I’m a huge Halloween nerd. I know better now but that association will always be there for me.
I couldn't figure out why she looked so familiar! After I saw your comment, I looked up pics from the movie and that's where I remembered her from. Thank you!!
O my Goddess - those eyes, that voice - Miss Eartha Kitt was royalty. Thank you Karine - and O how we'd love a deep dive on Orson - and his women👑❗️⚘️♥️🇨🇦
You said it, UNMATCHED!! ❤️💐
I think its good she was never recast as yzma after her death. She embodied the role so much without her it won't be the same
Eartha is and always will be my idol. Please please do a video on Orson, I'd definitely watch it!
I think she was just hungry for attention because of neglect received in childhood. The way she can't differentiate objectification and expression of admiration was worrisome.
I know of her from Batman and Santa Baby. Lovely lady.
The way the government did Eartha Kitt And Billie Holiday is Soo wrong and they got away with doing this foolishness 🤬
Beautiful, elegant, smart, talented and a rebel. She was the real deal! Much love to Miss Earth Kitt!!! Please do a video on Orson Welles and Billie Holiday too. Thank you and I can't wait 🤩
I always wished that Eartha Kitt had played Dominique Devereaux on Dynasty. I loved Diahann Carroll in the role, but I feel that even Alexis wouldn't have gone there with Eartha playing Dominique. Any doubt about who would have won those catfights? 🤭😆
Fantastic!! Madame Kitt incomparable!! Also, I will ask for you please for an Orson Welles video!! Wonderful Job!!
How can you skip her role as Lady Eloise????
She IS my spirit animal ! lol I love her life
Hey karine can you do a video about women who free bleed dont shave and dont clean there v@gina I've been seeing these things all over tik tok and it's very nasty and unhygienic to me but I want to know your opinion.
Really? I mean we are all different and might not need as much maintenance as the other woman next to us, but no maintenance at all? I couldn't. That's just my hygiene needs, but nothing at all seems very unhygienic to me as well. I'm all for the normalize our periods movement also, but bleeding everywhere would just ruin all my clothes and.. the smell...nope.
Oh these free bleeders are doing the absolute MAXIMUM and I can’t!!! 🤦♀️😂🙈
@@alirpa77 Nope, nope, nope. Why, just why?
@@alirpa77 right I saw this video of a woman who was swimming in the pool on her period and the comments were defending her saying that your not supposed to wear pads nor tampons in the pool and mind you this is a public pool.
What are you kidding me?
I can't express how much I adore Eartha Kitt! A true bonafide icon! I love how she never compromised her integrity and worth. Her voice was truly perfection and seduction personified. I also love her because she's a fellow Capricorn and it's usually a misconception that our sign can't be sexy I always point to her as an example otherwise. I love her as Lady Eloise from Boomerang and Yzma! Stunning video, Ms Karine!
Yes please, we are interested in Orson Welles. Thank you for your amazing work, queen! XX
Yes, do Orson Wells! And Humphrey Bogart
I always LOVED Eartha, though I feel like I didn't know that much about her. Her Santa Baby, is IT! Her character in the Emperor's New Groove was the BEST part.
Looking forward to your take on Orson😏😉 Thank you for this!❤
South Carolina born! Something about Carolina girls, best in the world 💖Eartha Kitt was so beautiful, interesting and real. There will never be another
I remember that she was a Goddess back in my day.
Great video, Karine 💕👍😘
MAKE THE ORSON WELLS VIDEO. DO IT. DOOOO ITTTT
I have been watching videos on Eartha Kitt and I’m in love with her! She died six months after my mother died! Her daughter is very lucky to have such a love in her life!
I love her. She’s been my idol since I was a kid. I met her twice.
@Karine Alourde, please do a video on Orson Wells!
I love Eartha Kitt! I was introduced to her thru Yzma and Madame Zeroni ❤ I feel like outspoken Black women have always been seen as a threat. I'm glad she doubled down on what she said. Love your videos. Please do a breakdown on Orson Welles!
I like her in the movie "Boomerang" she use to always say Marcus darling but it sound like she was singing it whenever she would see Eddie Murphy and say his name.
Yep! She played that unforgettable role in my favorite movie.
Her comedic timing is underrated. YZMA is my favorite Disney villain of all time
Legend🙏🏽... Pioneer🙏🏽... Salute to Queen Eartha Kitt 👑
And LISTEN. Look at eartha next to orson. Look at her body language. She looks safe and comforted in his presence. This lioness was a kitten underneath his strong masculine presence. THAT is what submission looks like.
I love your content!!! And since Citizen Kane is one of my favorite movies, I'd love to see a piece on Orson Wells
Your segments are inspired!!! I too LOVE Eartha Kitt and Lena Horne. You did a wonderful job. Your admiration for Your "subjects" is refreshing. And I adore watching Your segments. Your homage of so many of Our icons is essential. It's vitally important that Our youth recognize, that there would be NO Cardi, Nikki or Beyonce without, Eartha, Joséphine or Lena.
Finally Eartha! She is everything. One of my all time favs.
Thank you for this! I came to know about Eartha when I moved to US and saw one of her interviews. She immediately caught my attention how elegant, beautiful and her intellectually. She is one of a kind! 🌹
