the jimmy dean sandwiches are GREATLY improved by disassembling them frozen, microwaving the egg and meat until piping hot and putting the bread items in a toaster oven and toasting them, then adding a little shmear of unsalted butter, and re-assembling them with the hopefully now mostly-thawed cheese that will melt in the residual heat. Bread was never meant to be microwaved.

I'd like to see you rank every pizza flavored product you can find that is not actually a pizza. Pizza rolls, bagel bites, french bread pizzas, pepperoni pizza Combos, pizza Pringles, pizza Goldfish, etc.
I am at least 5% Jimmy Dean bacon, egg & cheese croissant. My old boss provided them for free. I worked 12-16 hours/day and had one sandwich per shift. It made up probably half of the food that I consumed for two years. I have issues with the croissant. Every one has a corner that is rock hard, where the dough is the thinnest. Otherwise, it's delightful. Best with hot sauce.
Did you know that if you freeze Gatorwine in a ziploc bag and throw it in your kid’s lunchbox, it’ll thaw enough for them to drink it by lunch? Gatorwine!
Even microwaved they're clearly better than a 3. They're better than the same from Jimmy Dean for sure. I have no idea how those Jimmy Dean sandwiches scored that high in comparison. I can only imagine it was because they were the first he had and his rating scale shifted as he went on.
The phrase "breakfast is the most important..." was simply a marketing ad slogan for Kellogg's from the late 19th century to help sell Corn Flakes. Not a real factual claim.
It may have been a marketing campaign but I’m literally useless without breakfast. It is my most important meal of the day followed by pre-workout meal (changes depending on the day can be breakfast or lunch).
Breakfast being the most important meal of the day is from the days where most jobs involved heavy labor and lunch breaks were ether impractical or not legally enforced. Think farmers, lumberjacks, and miners or the like. You'd eat a large meal for breakfast, have *maybe* a piece of fruit or a chunk of bread for lunch, then have a small dinner so it didn't disturb you from going to bed early because you needed to be up a 4 in the morning. Kellogg's was just the first to make an already commonly held belief into a marketing ad.
By limiting yourself to sandwiches you were denied the wonders of Jimmy Dean's Breakfast Corndog. It's a sausage wrapped in a pancake on a stick. Also these frozen breakfast items are almost always better if you use a Toaster Oven instead of a Microwave. Back in college I would get the aforementioned corndog semi-regularly and when you use a toaster oven it gets a nice crisp exterior to it.
Schwan’s used to have sausages wrapped with blueberry pancake. I think it had a stick, so like a corn dog as well. I thought they were amazing when I was little.
I was cursed with being a friendly conversationalist who hates telephones. This comes into conflict every time I have to call customer service or contact a vendor when at work. I wish I could invite these companies to my office for coffee and donuts and hash out my problems that way!
Including Aldi (and Lidl) products is a great way to reach European audience because the products you showcased previously are mostly from US retailers and hard to (or cannot be) found in the EU. Thanks.
2:21 I take the frozen cheese off, salt and pepper the egg and sausage; then add deli style fresh American or pepperjack cheese after the egg, sausage and muffin are done. I also put their breakfast bowls into tortillas with some other ingredients and end up with some of the best processed-style breakfast burritos I've ever had. A lot of this stuff can taste surprisingly alright, as long as you doctor it up a bit.
You should try the Jimmy Dean Croissant - Sausage, Cage Free Egg & Cheese sandwiches that seem to be exclusive to Costco. They're even better than the regular ones ... the sausage patty is pork only (vs pork and chicken) and the egg is not only cage-free, but grilled (vs "fully cooked"). The nutrition facts are slightly better, those relatively the same, but the texture on the egg is noticeably better.
I just did an FDA labeling course for work - there are A LOT of rules and I don’t have my notes in front of me, but there’s part that has to do with serving size and the nutrition facts panel…something like if your serving size is more than one unit there is a point where you are required to provide the NFP for both your stated serving size and for a single unit
Rank packaged stuffing/dressing for Thanksgiving. Maybe canned cranberry sauce too. Sure homemade is better but there's always one or two dishes of the easily 10+ other dishes on Thanksgiving that you take the easy way out.
Jimmy Dean sandwiches can be made every bit better with a slight time investment. They're meant to be a quick microwave meal but if you dissect the sandwiches and reheat the components separately it yields a superior sandwich. Toast the biscuit/croissant, warm the bacon/sausage in a pan, assemble with the cheese while still hot as it'll have thawed while the other things have been warming. Then it'll be at least a rating or two higher as a convenience meal and all for an additional 2-3 minutes investment.
Agreed. A quick spin in the microwave to safely heat the proteins followed by a few mins in an air fryer to toast up the bread exterior yields a far superior result
23:44 That's my pet peeve when I see people bully others' diets. "Go vegan, it's more humane!" "Go carnivore, Big Food has been lying about nutrition!" Like, my dudes. Breakfast is not the most important meal of the day. The entire premise and tagline came from Kelloggs advertising back in the early 1900s! Sometimes myths can be repeated so often in media they become truths. Like rabbits loving carrots, they barely even eat them!
Butter bustcuits from the can, baked croissant, or toasted sourdough. Local brand ground country sausage. form your own patties. Mild cheddar slice, american slice, whip an egg to make it fluffy when you fry it, couple slices of thick uncured applewood bacon. Thank you for reviewing!", JD Customer Relations (Paula?) Or did they retroactively change reviews? It's a conspiracy! Paula: "How may I help you?" Andrew: "I have a very strange question ..." Paula: _I am seriously questioning my life choices now_ Andrew: "You're the most helpful customer service person ever, thank you so much!" Paula: _No, I made the right choices_
10:04 My theory is that the biscuit has been around a lot longer than the croissant. Probably pre-dating the popular nomenclature of bacon, egg, and cheese. But by the time it came around they didn't want to change the boxes because that would cost extra money. So when they decided to do the croissant one, they were aware of the BEC order, so they used it when they did the croissant. Just a theory. 🤷♂️
I ate so many different frozen breakfast sandwiches while in highschool, my parents loved the convenience during the morning rush. I was a teenager so no doubt my taste buds loved everything but my favorites were: Pillsbury bacon egg cheese strudel, Jimmy Dean biscuit, and breakfast hot pocket. So many memories this video brought back.
I often eat BESC biscuit. If you are not in a hurry, deconstruct the sandwich and heat each ingredient separately. Lightly toast the inside of the biscuits and brown the sausage. It adds a little more flavor. Sometimes I replace the egg with a fresh cooked. Takes one wide frying pan.
I would bet they were split testing which product description sold more. It's very common in marketing. I don't know why anyone would by egg, cheese, bacon over bacon, egg, and cheese. It's just marketing employees doing something so they can keep their job.
Why egg, cheese, and bacon? It's easier to do the artwork. Egg, cheese on one line, all you have to do is change the bottom line of the copy and you're done. You'd have to deal with spacing, wrap, etc etc. if you put it meat first.
If they stuck with a single format you might have a point, but they didn't, they kept switching between meat first and last. They're inconsistent in their labeling, that's the joke.
So according to Jimmy Dean's website, they've already changed it to "Bacon, Egg & Cheese". Babish inspired change.
