- Опубликовано: 8 сен 2017
- During the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed and the 2017 Formula 1 Italian GP (due to the 50th anniversary from Honda second victory in F1, happened at Monza in 1967) I recorded this Honda RA300 F1 car being driven for the crowd both in memory of John Surtees and for this important achievement in Honda's history. The car is powered by a Honda 3.0L NA V12 engine which was able to produce around 400hp at 11,500 rpm.

THANKS FOR WATCHING AND SUBSCRIBE!!!
I saw this car at the 1967 US F1 GP at Watkins Glen, NY. It was the loudest, most musical car of them all. Most of the cars sounded like belt sanders. This car had such a beautiful note at speed. It was big, heavy and very fast, but a handful to drive, especially in the rain.
Oh wow thats really cool!
I think it's paid off, their name is synonymous with quality engines, anyone who's owned Honda or at least driven them knows they are of the best on the planet.
@@JollyRoger150hell even their bikes!
Forget the noise: these exhaust headers are something else!
What else are they?
Ferrari had the best, I wish i knew what they used for that white powder-coating
Honda V-12 with a Lola chassis. Won the 1967 Italian Grand Prix which was it's first race.
A victory that was more than a bit shaded by Clark’s performance in the Lotus 49. Will we ever see another drive like that? I doubt it.
Thought Mexico was it's first race..
@@joemoriel9626 You're thinking of the first Honda victory in F1 at the 1965 Mexican GP.
Such an amazing sound. You can hear it screaming it wants more. And as always amazing quality from an amazing uploader.
Thank you so much for your kind comment!
That car realy wants more like an wild animal so amazing ^^
F1 used to be so BRUTAL!
Someone needs to think up a new adjective.
Yeah and also very deadly!
@@thethirdman225 YOU had the opportunity right there.....FAIL!!
"BOO HOO...I don't like your choice of language"
Carl Arnold Well, you think of something then. Here’s your chance. Why waste your time on me?
Now F1 is like rubbish
Back then these things were like their own signature forms of art
Used to love this car on Grand Prix Legends. Wish they'd make a late 60's or early 70's F1 game again...
Assetto Corsa has '67 cars. It also has '75 cars. if you like those.
Forza 7 has this exact car from the video you can race
What a sound and what an amazing car. You did a great job by recording this one. Thanks for uploading.
Thank you for watching it dude!
What a beautiful sight and sound. Definitely one of my top favorite F1 cars of all time.
I would love to see and hear this in motion one day...
Fuck the modern hybrid vacuum cleaners, THIS is a proper racing engine! It's not sonorous like the V16 of the era, and not a Rumble Monster like the V8s. This engine is different - it derives its power by shredding the fabric of the universe into a million tiny pieces. BRILLIANT!
All of this power without electronic assistance. Pilots of this era was courageous.
I never got interested on old school F1 racing cars until i saw the RA300 with that brutal sound
car sounds amazing
Back when Honda kicked ass in Formula 1. Really wish we could see a comeback from Honda. Like when Ayrton was driving for Mclaren/Honda.
They did not kick as in the sixties
It's 2021 and they got a driver championship
It's 2023 and they're smashing the competition with RedBull😊
The monkey paw curls.
Oh you got your wish are right.
Downforce? Never heard of it.
I was thinking the same.:)They had power but can't use it to the max.
That just slows you down and adds weight
@@dancearoundtheworld5360 sure man... Sure..
@@dancearoundtheworld5360 😂😂😂your taking about down force? than ur an idiot:)
@@sornkeadsiri2643 He isn't wrong. Downforce will slow you down on topspeed but will make you take turns much quicker
I wish honda still has their factory team. I know honda made engines for red bull and alpha tauri but i do miss the honda factory team from the 60s and the 2000s
What a beautiful and good sounding racecar. "bella macchina"!
Spettacolare. A Monza il suo suono ha squarciato l'aria in autodromo come ai vecchi tempi .
Già già! Peccato le abbiano fatto fare solo un giro...
Man that is a sound lot of people miss and would get a bit emotional, now we have terrible sounding twin turbo v6s thanks to emissions.
Wow, Bozzy... thanks for showing more of this marvelous machine!👍 That exhaust work is a sight to behold.😍 Definitely one of my favorite Hondas of all time! Cheers, mate.
You're right! I may seems stupid but when everyone was on the stands watching the actual F1 race I was one of the few people walking around the F1 village where this Honda was displayed (first shots of the video). Stopped there to look at it for more than 15-20 minutes and took pictures of those headers/exhaust art XD Really marvellous
Beautiful sound.
Glorious sounds and info...thank you !!!
Woawwwww the superb sound of rising Sun.....
This was peak F1. Big engine, big tyres, no ugly wings.
"No ugly wings"
Lotus at the 1968 Monaco gp be like:
No seatbelts, no wheel harnesses, no fuel filters, no halos. Yep, peak.
@@DL_Burga Halo = pussybar
@@DL_Burgathe safety killed the sport. It was like the colosseum watching men and machine battle to the death to get to a finish line.
Peak f1 was during the 2000s
Noting like the sound of the Honda coming down the back straight at Watkins Glen with John Surtees driving. His down shift was later than anyone else's going into the carousel. If you on the loop, you would hear the squeal as it accelerated down the front straight behind you.
Absolutely brutal. WHY cant modern F1 cars sound like this ? Bin the hybrids & bring back these wonderful sounding engines.
Awesome footage! I'd love to see the RA272 as well!
Thanks! Me too XD
What a magnificent sound!!
Sounds so loud !
MAGNIFICENT !
I could watch this on repeat all day, every day. Sheer audio and visual p0rn. Honda perfected F1 in 1967 IMO.
That's fantastic!
Beautiful
The Lola chassis is surprisingly good too, really on top, and power ratio is pretty fun.
Introduced at the end of the season, why not more races win in 1967 & 1968 ?... Think it was the engine reliability problem : more power than others (up to 70 HP), higher rev but more problems. So Honda left F1 in 1968 for the next 38 years...
Awsome video man!
Thank you so much!
Great sound!
Yoshio Nakamura, John Surtees, Ritchie Ginther, David Hobbs,Ronnie Bucknum and Jo Schlesser spring to mind.
excelent, thanks
Interesting how Honda made the intake on the outer side while all the exhaust snakes out of V12's center "valley"- the complete opposite of everyone else. Still a beauty though.
Not really. Look up images of the same season's 1967 Ferrari 312/67. As you'd expect, the Italians did a nicer job of the exhaust 'banana-bunch' from the inside of their V12, then painted them white. Magnificent!
The car in this video has been RPM limited. Like other posters, I saw one in 1967?, driven by John Surtees at Silverstone. Its exhaust noise was unmistakable - it shrieked. Even the BRM 16-cylinder couldn't compete for sheer sound.
The sounds of these engines now live long and prosper in the current honda sport bikes 🙂
Makes me so emotional engine....Rip senna....Real honda loyalists are rooted in F1. ..Where the Real R and D gets Tested so that you can have your efficient ego fast and furious type variants.....Rip Senna
me want!...that thing sounds brutal.
Beautifull racer!😻😻😻😻
Marvellous
Brividi.....🔝
Impresionante.. Como suena y empuja el bestia este..!!
I want to hear the RA109E screaming at full tilt sometime
Meh it's still just a 2.4. Probably wouldn't sound all that special anyway.
oh he meant the engine in the mp4/5? I was thinking of the ra109 chassis that honda made under wraps for the 2009 season but it ended up being the platform for the championship winning Brawn GP001 car. The RA109 concept did have a Honda designed 2.4 V8 but that ended up being replaced by a Mercedes 2.4 V8. The mp4/4 had the RA168E engine though.
yes i meant the mp4/5 engine.
Ayrton Senna the best V10 engine of the 90s in my opinion!
I have a 1:43 scale of this car RA300 😁, looking for music to my ears I found this video hehe thanks👍
The colors, the V, wonder if Mahha Go Go Go was inspired by the Race team
Yes! That's great
This model deserves an papermodel
Wow, I did not know that back in the 60's the Japanese were really on top of their game in the world of F1 racing!
When Honda, was honda
It stayed Honda up till early 90s.
Don't forget about VTEC another icon
Why didn't exhuast coming out the top and intakes on the sides ever catch on? It seems like it would be pretty good for airflow and heat managment
wow...
Pure music.
Just a shame about the Goodwood gearchanges
Carrão!
Honda-san's hot rod. Lordy that exhaust.

Rather watch a full race with these cars than the shit they have now.
Honda made v8 then v12 wow honda was nice their 02 honda odyssey she have 210k miles and she sounds cool. Vtec kick in at 4800rpm nice.
Amen
This civic's got VTEC!!!
The gear change most lower! But this sound is music to my ear!
F1 should start retro championship.:)
No... too many deaths
I have a Mod for Assetto Corsa that adds in this beauty. It's a blast to drive :D
Grand Prix Legends
How I want my Civic to sound!
Look at that! A Honda engine that doesn't break down every 5 minutes!
What?
You know, there's no on-board footage of this car easily available, if at all. What would it take to get a good recording, do you think? I've had reasonable results with an "action camera" and an external mic squirrelled away out of the wind on my motorbike. GoPros generally have issues with the mic picking up structural vibrations in whatever it is they're clamped to, and most others suffer wind noise, so the external / high(er) quality mic is almost a necessity. Unless you hide a sound recorder in there somewhere and find a way of synching its audio to the camera. When / if you get that high SPL "3D" microphone, onboard recordings would be amazing!!
Yea, the typical GoPro audio track is a rattling, plasticrap disaster. All it would take is a mid-range digital audio recorder (50 bucks or so), or a typical DSLR or video camera with uncompressed data recording and manually adjustable levels. Add a quality mic with a functional 'dead cat' to eliminate wind noise and you're in business.
I don't know why, but I find a modern helmet and a classic f1 car to be a great combination.
creo que es un gran error. Not a great combination
I think That was Fernando Alonso's car ( as the car has number 14 of Fernando Alonso). He went in the 60s by time machine to experience how it was to race in the 60s😂😂
Now I really want to hear an RA271-3

Watch this: ruclips.net/video/UHSqnyoOv2E/видео.html
It's a 1.5L v12
Yeah lol I watched that video after writing the comment. I love those things
Back when cars were loud and people thought racing drivers were crazy and rightly so they were 😂
They should run that "exhaust" layout on the new Honda-McLaren. Just cut the exhaust pipe out and leave the manifolds exposed. If you're gonna fail, you may as well fail in style.
Nice spaghetti.
HEY LOOK ITS THE MARIO KART!
When Honda was a car
Dat hot V
I want it
R300でもリアーウイング付いて無かったのかな良く走れたね宙を浮かったのか🤔
This car should be in Gran Turismo 7.
How many exhausts has this car?!
18,956
12 going into 4
Four 3 into 1's
12 orifices
Yes
What dowforce? We only know horsepower here
v12 honda⚡️
Looks like a B- Dasher of Mario Kart DS/8
That engine sound is pure porn...

B Dasher
sound like rotary engine a bit
Pipe physics
Slap on some twin turbskis
Take that all you EV Lovers!!
I could not drive it, even with earplugs...
Why Honda can’t make Vtec V12? But I think… I can make it with displacement upper to 6.0/7.1/7.4/8.4 liters.
I wonder what it would take to build one of these to be road legal
Each cylinder is 250cc. So its the same as twelve CR250 dirt bikes in one car.
Crf250 is a two stroke this is a 4 stroke. Totally different.
