While living in the hills may come with risks like fires, many people find the breathtaking views, peaceful environment, and sense of exclusivity well worth the trade-offs, especially with proper safety measures in place

The wildlife, the pets, the animal in the shelters, the people trying to get them out and relocated, and of course the firefighters who are underfunded and risking their lives fighting this hellscape. European here with an honest question, or two.....
    1. Why are those hills surrounding such a dense population not under a proper fire mitigation program?
    2. Why the law banning the sale of small engine powered equipment that is needed to clear dead brush (fuel)?
    3. Why were no fire breaks cut into the hills surrounding such a dense population?

Part of the reason this spread so quickly is the hurricane force winds, not only did it make the fire spread extremely fast, but it was too dangerous for any aircraft to fly in the winds. This means no airdrops of retardant/water for the first day or so, it was a double whammy of awfulness. They may have been able to curb the damage more if they had been able to fly.

I can’t believe people are wondering why the water pressure went down. If a 12” main is feeding a neighborhood and you have 10 or more fire hoses connected to hydrants, pipes in homes bursting and spigots melting and releasing water everywhere their will be a huge loss in pressure. Then multiply that by hundreds. The pumps and pipes cannot keep up with the demand. It’s not a California thing it would be the same anywhere.

Says in the news it's a "Wildfire" and Wildfire's happen in places in the world that are constantly hot throughout the years. I'm guessing California didn't get enough rain recently on top of being hot and some stuff started catching fire from direct sun light and no rain.
