I don't remember much of it, but I do recall making high use of masking layers, color editing, bevels, obviously layers, and the copy-paste brush tool (I think that one was my favorite). That is not to say that this doesn't take skill! It take a shit ton of patience and can really be time consuming. not to mention that you can get lost in the realm of "looking for the perfect reference/texture picture.
