    I was part of the Tenor group in Choir during the youth days. And how joyfully we sang that song in the church in front of all the people was an immense joy. Now as i try to sing the same song, my voice can't sustain it.

    I LOVE Peter's animated facial expressions and enthusiasm.. superb diction / enunciation. This would be a great learning tool for those who are learning this for the 1st time.. wish I had something like this in H.S.

    First of all I would like to congratulate the responsibles for this magnificient idea. As an old member of the Church of Jesuschrist of Latter Day Saints, I have had a great daydream: to sing with the Tabernacle Choir. I have always known that it could not be possible for me, at least! When I heard that we might have this possibility I felt really blessed... my daydream could come true ! Then, I had a difficulty... I've got a cold and cough. But I decided to overcome that and record the video. It was not my best, but I made my daydream come true..., finally. Prepare your ears...! THANKS !

    I so wanted to be able to contribute a tenor part to this magnificent project, but God Bless you all ... the REAL tenors who can REALLY sing in upper ranges! The tenor part is just too tiring for this old voice! :)

    I sang bass part for this song. I know it in the back of my head. For a newbie, it’s a hard song. Once you learn the part your singing, you can memorize it quicker. With me, I learned it in one day and I can sing the bass with confidence

  • @PoeCompany
    @PoeCompany 6 лет назад +89

    hardest part ever lol i don't know how we managed to sing this from memory this weekend... also saw the cut at 3:48... lol

    • @alisondickinson
      @alisondickinson 5 лет назад +9

      Not just the cut, but Peter repeated the same notes for "of" as the measure before. It's always been a section I paid close attention to because it's a "gotcha" measure, like the skip of octaves in the middle or the rest at the end.
      But this was a great tenor performance! I wish he was standing next to me this Easter at church when we will sing it. I once had a nine-year stretch where I sang it every year. It never gets old.

    I'm a countertenor with a pretty undeveloped range, so my set of comfortable notes is like a middle C to a G4. For the most part, this is right in the comfort zone, though actual tenors probably hate this song for its range.

    I can pull off the tenor part easily now that my progress as a tenor (formerly baritone) has been made with an ability to sing both falsetto and mixed voice (modal voice) those high notes and high lines. However I feel like singing more in my full voice the high notes and high lines when it's forte and pure head voice (no falsetto) when it's piano unless I am singing an extremely high note that is beyond the tenor high C.

    lol he still makes a couple mistakes(the most common ones i hear from my own tenor section too) i think he sings forever and ever and ever rather than forever forever and ever...he also goes up on the second king of kings but im pretty sure the of stays the same(it's the only one that doesnt go up of the four)

  • @ciukilp
    @ciukilp 2 года назад

    If you look at the sheet there's actually a few small mistakes, one of which being, that in the part from 3:40 -3:50 during the second King of Kings Peter sings the 16th note that's not supposed to be there. It's actually a common mistake because in that section the three other "of"s do have that 16th note. I probably wouldn't even have noticed if I didn't spend a year in school choir singing this piece among others. Still a great job

      Pierre Odendaal when i was 13 i said i wish I could be a tenor and guess what my wish came true when i was like 16 ha. A baritone could sing tenor but a natural born tenor can’t really sing baritone that easily so in a way you’re lucky because that means you could probably do bass as well as tenor with proper training
