Silent Hill: Downpour is a new Silent Hill video game for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, developed by Vatra Games and published by Konami. Downpour marks the eighth installment (Silent Hill 8) in the series, and is the third seventh generation Silent Hill game.
The protagonist of the game is a convict, Murphy Pendleton. Downpour begins with Murphy sitting inside a prisoner transport bus that is traveling along Interstate 95 on a rainy night. However, things go awry as the bus steers out of control and sails off the side of the road, entering the nearby woods. Murphy, after looking at the remains of the bus, enters the forest as an attempt to escape. Along the way, he encounters Anne Cunningham, a corrections officer attempting to track the remaining prisoners down.

Wait so let me see if I am following the story line ... The big guy from the shower scene was Murphys neighbor who molested then killed Charlie so Murphy steals a cop car to get put in prison so he can get revenge on the big guy makes some sort of deal with that guard but something goes amiss resulting in Murphy being caught and since he was now convicted of murder they were transferring him to a maximum security prison and thats how he ended up in silent hill

When you saw those symbols I was like omg they're for the bells since you said you didnt know what they were for.
Maybe it's just me but that last bit was just... phenomenal voice work, especially on Murphy's part. Holy crap.
I've been stalking this playthrough for a few days and just now thought I'd drop in, but goddamn... SOMETHING about this part just blew me away. I am loving this game so far. Haven't been able to afford buying it myself yet but I'm drawn in.
I love it how he's immune to damage doing that chandelier thing. He's just lighting the candles while that shadow monster tries to stab him in the back xD

I love this series and watching you play in general. I think people get frustrated do to your lack of attention to detail. Obviously the bells had those symbols on them, but you didn't notice. I'm sure it easier to Monday-Quarterback while watching than playing. Keep it up Brad - I love this channel! :)

I like watching this play through but sometimes it seems like things should be more obvious to you like ringing the bells in the order that is displayed under the candle light.

I personally dont find this game scary (playing is a dif story), this storyline is very confusing but very enjoyable to watch you play Brad, keep up the great work

I understand people are whiny and sensitive about negative comments, but there was some really obvious things that you missed. Signs on the bells... signs on the walls indicating a pattern... how can you not put these things together?

I think Silent Hill Donwpour is pretty good, but the first 4 games were way more scarier and disturbing. There are not enough enemies in downpour !!!
Some of the sounds and music were so disturbing in the old games it made me want to quit playing.

Call it sacrilegious however you want, but Murphy is quickly starting to become one of my favorites of the SH protagonists. If nothing else, this has convinced me to buy the game and play it for myself even more.

When are these games going to show actual facial emotion? I'm sick of seeing characters that are supposedly yelling and angry or crying with grief but still have the same stiff face...I mean come on they're only cut scenes...

Yes. Napier kidnapped, molested, and then drowned Charlie. Murphy came up with a not-so-elaborate plan to get himself into prison to kill Napier for what he had done. Murphy also blamed himself for Charlie's death because he wasn't able to save him. SPOILERS: After he defeated the Bogeyman, he realizes that killing Napier didn't solve his problems, after which Charlie consoles him...telling Murphy that his death was not his fault.
Sounds good, waiting for it, I watched your episodes from the very begining, simply put, 2 reasons to love your videos;
a) watch it through so I don't need to buy the game
b) love the way you swearing at the monsters and stuff, just wonderful to watch while having my dinner everyday infront of the PC
one rec. if you can try to tell your own thoughts / guesses on the story line after every CG that would be great, so viewers can see if they're also on the same page.

i cringe to even think you have the slightest idea alone what those symbols alone means. your really not made for playing video games at this level. people should not be watching someone who has no gamer sense AT ALL let alone very little knowledge in general. "an eye" "an eye" dude just has no idea what those symbols are. its not illuminati like people said either, symbols are just they highest level of communcation/sharing ideas.
No. The Bogeyman, to Murphy, is Napier (and I believe Sewell or himself). I believe the Bogeyman represents, to Murphy, a true monster...like child molesters/murderers/etc. The town wanted to show him is wrongdoings and that Napier's murder WAS NOT justified. He had no right to do what he did, and it was not his fault Charlie died.
... It's all starting to piece together... He needs to seek redemption to get the hell out of hell... This game it's scary at all with brads hilarious commentary and during scary parts holding my hand... No matter how f***ing awkward of situation it is... No homo
Ok for anyone watching this part of his walk through the symbols are the symbols you see on the bells MUST FALLOW AS THEY ARE ON THE LIGHTED WALL eye eye 3 circle Flame then Eye and it opens the door in that room and maybe a boss battle of some sort awaits? idk but that's what the symbols are for.

the first symbol in the bells is from SH Origins save points, and the second is the symbol of the sun god in SH's ancient cult from SH 3 (also a save point), which when painted in blue represents an offense to this same god. Dunno whats the third one though
i honestly don't understand how he couldn't connect the symbols on the wall to the bells. not to make myself sound awesome or anything, but most of these puzzles he gets so confused by are immediately obvious to me, so frustrating sometimes
holy shyt... i was getting ready to fast forward when i saw the wheelchair at 7.02 so i put my curser on the loading bar.then the floor collapsed and shook me my hand jerked and clicked.then i had to rebuffer the whole video agn lol
I hate begging too but at least hes nice enough to put these up for some of us that can't play the game or don't have the right system for the game. If your tired of his begging then stop watching his videos even though you already kept watching lol.

Man, this Silent Hill really gets back to its roots. A tormented father, a man trying to forget what he's done even though it felt necessary at the time... sort of in between Harry and James, but with his own thing. I love it.
There were facial emotions in SH3 and to some extent in SH4. I still consider characters from these two games the most realistic ones and most human-like. Ah, the times when grass was greener and games had souls to them...
silent hill fights sucks and most of the time u loos a lot of energy , and as u all can see their are not much first aids around , so give him a break , silent hill serie s all about escape ur skin befor u get torned out
I also heard that if you kill a lot of monsters you get a bad ending..But I might be wrong and I'm not sure if that's what he's going for :P

Ok so from what i can gather so far, murphy's son was murdered and at some point he was put in jail, in jail he killed a guy he thinks killed his son (?) and from there transfered, silent hill, yada yada, right?
yo brad man. wheres some more cry of fear? i took a couple day break and still about to catch up to your vids, but i still see no cry of fear. ummm is there anothe rproblem with tit glitching or something?
if you go to the house near the pier (right before the bridge that you have to bring down) there's a house before you go to the entrance. Complete the side quest there and you will receive the "golden gun".
@theRadBrad when you do the strong attack if you hold the button he holds the attack and it's more powerful so when you knock an enemy to the floor just hold the attack and it should only take 1 hit not 3. ;)
I do not know why all reviews have been so harsh with this game, so far I have only seen pure silent hillness. It just resembles silent hill 1 to me. I will be buying as soon as I get some cash.

So his son has Manifested as the Bogeyman. from what i have come to understand of this series, the bogeyman embodies the guilt that the protagonists feel about something they have done in the past .
Okay...so at this point I'd simply stop fooling around asking spirits WTF they want and simply walk up and punch that Nun in her face. Then I'd sing "They see me Rollin" by Chamillionaire. XD
Sounds like we go a little COD boy over here that only cares about finishing the game but not the game itself. Chill dude, it's more fun to watch with his commentary, even if it's a little girly.
And the moral: Don't trust anyone who is religious. Or don't think that a freaking huge guy, who hunts you though the whole town, is really dead unless you kill him with your own two hands.

Freaky game. He should've taken Charlie/boogyman outside to play on the swing. Since everything at Silent Hill seems to be dead, I;m guessing the nun is also one of the dead.
My GF always complain I spent too much time on RUclips watching brad's videos so I bought this game and play it in front of her for a few minutes. She never bother me again.

I think he's going to do a lot of side-quests too so it might take a lot longer than just playing through the straight game. Which means more Silent Hill for us all! :)

well one thing ive noticed is that the prop making classes in this orphanage are run in a pretty dictatorial fashion to make such good work....damn those nuns
I love how the shadows are trying to attack during the brief cut scene, while candles are placed and lit. Maybe Murphy has a force shield for those moments? :)
Brad. Your gameplay is great. You don't stretch the footage out when you get stuck. And even when there is a cutscene, you stay alert for any possible dangers.
I feel the same way! Sometimes i think he is a total noob and sometimes he owns pretty much in the game and is quite accurate with the controls etc.
i got this game today and when i open a door and walk away the door slams and closes and i of course shit my pants even when i know its going to shut .
the bogeyman size looks improper zzz....look at the size of him when laying down and the size when he stood up from short to so tall the height zzz....

did anyone else who hasnt played this immediately got that the symbols lit up by the blue candles was the combination to play the bells in
