- Опубликовано: 15 авг 2024
- Hello sweet friends, and welcome to my channel! I'm back from my little hospital vacation and wanted to share with you this beautiful, new Kuretake Gansai Tambi palette, inspired by that wonderful period in art known as Art Nouveau, which I purchased the other week from Amazon Japan. I'll also be swatching these beautiful watercolors and talking about them a little.
Apologies in advance for the Balloo attacks! 😺😁❤️ (and also apologies for the slight overexposure - I am working on correcting this, for further videos!)
I purchased this palette from Amazon Japan, and below is my affiliate link to the set: amzn.to/3OzUiTy
Important edit!! They seem to have run out of stock, I will update this edit when they are in stock again!!
Yet another edit: Found them today 13/12/2022 .....
EDIT** 21/12/2022 Deleted the link as Amazon has removed the Art Nouveau palette on this link to another one as they must have run out of stock :(
.........................................................................................................................
The rest of the materials I used are ones I purchased from Jackson's Art Supplies:
Bockingford Pad: https:www.jacksonsar...
Da Vinci Maestro Brush: www.jacksonsar...
*All links above are affiliate links, which means that if you use the link to purchase from the Jackson store and it is your first time purchasing from them you will receive a 10% discount. Otherwise, it just helps me a little, with no extra cost to you 😊❤️
It's like someone at kuretake downloaded all my fave hues and put them in one palette, I am shocked by how perfect the color range is for me! Thank you for sharing, your swatches were perfect!
I had a similar reaction when I swatched this palette, it is so beautiful! Thank you for your really sweet comment 🥰
💯! Love these colors:)
Gorgeous colors and beautiful swatching! I hope you've seen the article about a stack of 14th century illuminated manuscripts uncovered in Croatia a few years ago. There are inky black paw prints tracking right up the center of the text, courtesy of the monk's cat. So, even 700 years ago the struggle was real. ;-)
Cat interruptions are the best! These colours are beautiful, and I love the way you swatched them.
I don't actually paint nearly enough anymore, but these colors are so, so beautiful. I never thought I'd love beige watercolors but these ones have my heart.
This palette alone is gorgeous but alongside the full Kuretake set is beautiful. They were on Amazon US for a while which is where I got them but I don’t see them now. They also released a 100 set in bamboo stacked boxes. It’s all the original 48 colors, these new ones and all of the starry, gem, graphite and opal sets all together. Super expensive and I own them all already so I couldn’t bring myself to buy the whole thing. But if someone doesn’t own any it would be great. I love Kuretake Gansai Tambi. It’s a gorgeous watercolor. Thanks for searching!
I have this set and absolutely love it. It’s fun to watch you swatch it. I am the worst at doing swatches.❤ EDITED TO SAY: I purchased them on US Amazon.
I have the 48 set and I never thought I'd ever need another palette but apparently I was proven VERY wrong. I love these colors so much!
Same here, Manar ! I just wish I could find this new set.
Same 🙋🏻♀️😅
@@floralheart I think we need to give it some time to have it in our hands :")
@@floralheart Heads up, they just came back in stock yesterday!!
WOW! Beautiful colours and creative swatching too! Thank you - so enjoyable.
Aw, thank you so much! Love your work and your videos! ❤😊
I don't really like to use pastel colors, but this set is so aesthetically pleasing 😍 this reminds me pastel watercolors from White Nights a little. It's the ultimate pastel/muted colors set 🥇
You love your kitty so much 😍
Yes, the colour selection is so well done!! I do love Balloo very very much indeed haha 😊❤️😺
It’s a beautiful palette, it’s nice to see I’m not the only one with feline helpers (I have 2) xx
Those colors are simply luscious. I will be in Japan this fall and will pick up a set. Because I absolutely don't need any more watercolors.
Balloo made me laugh...I am constantly plucking cat hairs out of my watercolor paintings, although sometimes I leave them for...a little special effect.
This is one of my favorite swatching videos. You do a beautiful job and Balloo “attacks” are a welcome subplot 😋
Aww, Balloo says hi!! Thank you so much for being here and for you lovely comment xoxo
Stunning colours! You definitely swatched them beautifully - so peaceful to watch! Well done 😍You did nothing wrong! Don't apologize 😉✨
Aw, thank you!! 💖
I just received my set last week and I have had so much fun swatching, blending, experimenting and just playing. What I found interesting was when I put all of the colors together on one sheet, they seemed to coexist so beautifully. I purposely would bump each color next to each other and had very little muddiness. I had some very interesting washes that inspired me to the point of distraction because I didn't want to do anything else but play with these paints. I do hope that you have an opportunity to try the other colors from their line. Just remember they are not like Western watercolor paints. They take some time to adjust because it is easy to use too much. Enjoy your experience with these beautiful paints.
I agree, I played with these colours in my sketchbook, and I was trying to figure out ways to get all of the colours in as they look so wonderful together!! I'm still getting use to them, as I am so use to western watercolours, but the learning is so much fun! Thank you for your very kind comment! xoxo
I found it very satisfying to paint intuitively, abstract and loose shapes to make colors an unintentional theme. Of course I've only been painting since July of 2021 so that's about my speed. Sometimes that is a really good way for me to loosen up and I find it an exercise observation. As this was the first time that I had seen any of your posts I didn't realize you had already had a chance to use Kuratake pants. Have a blessed day, Lily.
How much was the set?
@@PompeySmiler I bought it for around 18 Euros :)
@@lilymoonart I'm not sure how much 19 Euros are in American dollars but I paid around $32 in the United States on November 11th. They're so enjoyable I think I would have paid more.
I desperately need these. Art Nouveau is one of my absolute favourite periods in art and these colours just confirm it. They are stunning and I love the opacity of Japanese watercolours. So so useable. Thanks for swatching them for us 😁
I enjoyed every interruption of the cat 😂
😂🐈❤️
So for me cats are a must in a studio 😂. These are beautiful but hard to find in stock for the US. Love these and thanks for sharing
this palette is like magic, the second its released - it disapears! Ive tried 2x to get it and now on a waiting list again. meanwhile, thatnks for the swatching and eye candy
I absolutely love, love these colors! I also thought the way you swatched them was so pretty. I liked the cat coming into the video.
I am so happy you liked the swatching! Balloo is a little rascal, but he is also the cutest little studio assistant, haha
Thank you for swatching this set of Kuretake colors. They have been in my rush list. I saw them on Amazon US a few days ago & they looked wonderful.
Looking forward to more of your videos and maybe seeing your sweet cat artist assistant 😃❤
They are so beautiful! I am so glad they are available on Amazon US!! Thank you for your sweet comment, and Balloo thanks you too! 😊😊😺😺❤❤
These colours look gorgeous ❤. I've just ordered this set. And please don't apologise for being interrupted by Baloo. I love his jumps on your table. I have 4 cats myself and I'm constantly discussing the use of my paper, paints and brushes with them. My cat Sam is always about to have a drink on my muddy paint-water 😂. This is the reason I have now a divided water-container with one section reserved for him to drink 🙈. And, btw., I love Cyprus 🇨🇾.
Aww, Kathrin, thank you so much! ❤️❤️🥰
I loovveeee this video. It's so relaxing to watch. It's a shame that these colours aren't lightfast, they're gorgeous!
Aw, thank you so much!! ❤
I love these colors as well. I recently updated my Zig Kuretake brush pen sets by adding the 2 most recent additions, Set A with muted colors and Set B with blues and greens. I followed your link but Amazon Japan is currently out of stock. I will keep checking with them.
Thank you for showing us the beautiful set of colors.
Beautiful colors! Thank you for the link to the set. Baloo is great. My kitties and I love meeting him. Love to you too 😻
I don’t know why it’s so funny when cats jump on tables on videos.😂 Balloo is cute and that was adorably hilarious.
😁He is one unpredictable feline haha!
Beautiful colours and a very relaxing video 🥰🥰
I want these. I'm not a watercolourist, but I love the colour story. That baby pink, oh my goodness !!! It is so hard to find the most perfect baby pink. So pretty ☺️
Ha ! My Opal does the same thing. Ive been eyeing the Kuretake 48 set. I’m new to watercolor. I think now this set would be perfect for a first nice set. Thank you.
Love these colors. Also your video. Your voice is so soothing. I’m so glad I came across your channel.
I am so glad you are here! Thank you for your very sweet comment! ❤💗
Such a gorgeous range of soft colors 😍! I gotta say, I kinda love that your furbaby's name is Baloo😻... we have been blessed by the spirit of kitteh! LOL
Haha, he is my spirit animal...or possibly I am his, not quite sure, lol 😺😺💗💗
These are stunning - as close to “my palette “ as I’ve ever seen. Hope they will have refills. 🤞 Thank you for this.
You are so very welcome! I, too am completely smitten with them!💓😻
There is a UK website call buddly crafts that sell this set ( out of stock until 30/12/22). They sell all the refills including colours from this set.
an art nouveau collection?!? 😭😭 omgggg i need this
It is gorgeous! ❤❤😊😊
I thoroughly enjoyed your swatching. It’s nice to see it done differently for a change.
Seeing them both in mass and dispersed really helps us decide weather we want to make the purchase.
- LOVE those paints!

btw.. Your not the only one that can’t contain themselves when seeing beautiful colours. Every artist is the same. 🤩 We LOVE COLOUR‼️

♥️THANKYOU for the great vid!
☕️ Coffee & swatching in the morning.
What could be better. ‼️
Thank you so much Taven! xoxo
I prefer a muted palette and these are just beautiful!
I love the set up you have for the swatching. That's so cute and so clever! To answer your question, 顏 means color or paint and 彩 means colorful. So it can mean something like colorful paint or multi-colors. Hope this helps. I am getting their wooden box set from Japan too, and hope to do an unboxing and swatching video when I get it. ♥
Thank you so much!! I'd love to watch your unboxing of those wonderful paints!! xoxo
Thank you for swatching these, they’re beautiful. Your videos are calming like ASMR, easy to listen to. I have extremely sensitive hearing and don’t need to adjust the volume on your videos. Nice to see you have a furry studio assistant too!
You are so welcome! ☺️♥️
I just ordered mine and they only had 19 available on the U.S. Amazon! I’m anxiously awaiting them! Thank you! I’m new to your channel! The kitty is fine! I’m going to check out your other videos!💕
Enjoy your lovely palette when it arrives! The colour selection is so pretty, I'm sure you'll have so much fun using it! 🥰🎨
I can’t wait two more days to receive this set in the mail
Blick Art Materials finally has this set available!!!! I'm gonna get it the moment I have disposable income >:3c
After months of trying to order these from anywhere, they should finally arrive on Monday. Can't wait they are so pretty.
i have receveid last saturday the set of kuretake x 100 with amazing box ! it is marvellous
Yay!!! Enjoy!!!🥰🌸💗
The most beautiful paper for your swatching that I have ever seen.
Aww, thank you so much!!💖
I had to laugh at your kitty. I have one who is so similar. Love her to bites. Loved the video too!
Aww, say hi to her from me and Balloo! ❤( I love Balloo to bits too! 💗😊)
My favorite kuretake watercolor set so far.
It's so good! ❤️😊🙌
These colors have arrived 🤩💕 very cool, I loved them very much, thank you for your review of these colors 🤍🤍
Glad you like them, and thank you for being here!! ❤️😊
These paints are still very difficult to find! crazy! Kuretake should develop another set….this is crazy!
Wowwwwww, beautiful well done to you the unboxing and swatching very helpful and relaxing to see. Love and Light from Europe ✨
Thank you so much!! 🙌❤️
Sooooo tempted…. I can (and do) use my 36 set on Xuan because their binders are much better on my Xuan paper than western paints. The problem? They use a lot of dye’s and synthetic pigments, and my tutors pitch a fit when I use them on pieces I’m wet mounting. Where sumi-e painters don’t mind synthetic pigments; professional Chinese traditional painters are VERY strict about maintaining “Intangible Cultural Heritage”, whether with paints, papers or brushes. When one Company about 3yrs ago, a pop-up brush factory, got caught destroying live animals for low cost natural brushes…let’s just say it was the equivalent of pitchforks and tar and feathering among the Chinese public. My late son stayed with a traditional brush maker for 2 days, learning about the humane trimming of goat hair in the Spring, he even assisted a horse farmer trim a mane, after which the trimmings were made into my most precious brush. It’s a certain breed of horse in South China who are used for riding, traditional shows…similar to Shetlands but their long fur, if not trimmed in the spring, they die from heat exhaustion. They were originally from Northern China, moved South in the 14-1500’s by both human expansion and climate changes and disasters (mainly floods). Anyway, the criminal brush makers packed up, critters and all, moved to Vietnam where they thought they’d be safe…but over a billion Chinese people were outraged and determined this family would pay for destroying the reputation of their traditional brush makers and their thousand year old tradition of having a reciprocal relationship with farmers and animal keepers. They were shut down, arrested and shipped back to China where they’ll spend the rest of their lives in jail..well, except for the father and uncle..I won’t repeat the names they were given. If you saw the pictures local police took, which circulated on Weibo and Douyin (Chinese TikTok), not to mention WeChat..you would understand why the two men who owned and led that horror show…their lives ended. Many protested outside the court, demanding they be skinned live, as they’d done to thousands of innocent critters. The court decided on a firing squad.
China certainly isn’t perfect and I’m well aware of, up until about 5 years ago, certain critters were still legally used for food. Today, if you get caught serving up dog? Or worse, breeding or capturing them for that purpose? The courts are NOT kind. The 1.4 billion Chinese people have become extremely attached to critters of all kinds and it was the people who forced the Govt to change its policies.
Getting back to paint; I’ve mentioned before, the quality of traditional paints, especially Marie’s, has rapidly deteriorated in recent years. Artists and professors are blaming it on Marie’s expansion into Western WC, Gouache, oils and acrylics. Even when I started about 8 years ago; they had just put out their first western WC paints-nothing else. I still have a bit left in those old tubes and the difference in quality between them and the newer (non-“Masters”) paints is huge! Maries was built on affordable professional grade, NATURAL PIGMENT paints. Now, to get close to their old quality, you have to pay more than double the price for Masters.
Traditional chips have also gone down in quality and way UP in price. It’s causing quite a controversy right now and is why my eldest, my best friend and I are experimenting with different western brands, trying to find ones that Chinese artists can use just by adding a traditional binder One US Supplier..professional artist and Chinese-American Ning Yeh’s company have actually started selling a couple of western brands..and just last week, added Kuratake. I’m waiting for LingChi (wife) or Gavin (son) to tell me about the backlash they WILL get. We had an “office hours” Zoom last Friday when they announced it and a few of us were shocked. Thankfully they are well-stocked on papers and brushes and they have their own line of paints…I personally don’t think they’re even as good as Marie’s..but at about $1 large tube? I guess for students and kids…
Anyways, we shall see how it goes. Many Kuratake paints aren’t stable enough for wet-mounting…HOWEVER, dry-mounting is gaining in popularity among Chinese artists (mostly due to Henry Li). Me and JaShin (Ning and LingChi’s daughter) can NOT figure out how to do it without tearing the very delicate Xuan paper…but, maybe we just haven’t figured out the trick to it.
Although I DID just get some chips from my primary tutor (trying to get traditional paint chips through us customs is nearly impossible..especially the white ones); I’m going to finish a lotus I’m doing on a pre-mounted board tonight…with Kuratake and some handmade US paints I mix with a bit of Chinese medium (peach sap gum-similar to gum Arabic but much better suited to use on Xuan paper). It’s a present for my current landlords as I’ll be moving next month…hopefully! My ONLY concern is lightfastness
Wonderful swatching. Great colors. Sadly, as of 11/25, these are not available in either Amazon US or Amazon Japan!
I love the Kuretake colours, I have 2 boxes and use them all the time.
Great swatching. The interruptions make it fun ... I love wonky. 🤪
Loved this video. Just subscribed. I hope you will do more videos on art.
Another stunning painting and great explanation. ❤❤
Best swatching video of all time... 🙏
Awwww, thank you!! ❤️🙌❤️
Such a beautiful array of colors! I am sorry to hear that you were in the hospital. I sure hope that you are feeling better now. I love the pinks so soft and girlly! I can't wait until I can get them here in U.S.A. 👍😃🎨✍💖👋
Thank you so much for being here and for sharing such a kind and sweet comment 💗😊
wow love it. these are my favorite types of colors. i especially like the shadow green and venetian red ^_^
😭😭😭 I love gansai and this will chip my pocket off
No need to apologize for the kitty. He only wants to paint with you ☺
🥰☺😺
Love your swatching and really like the interruptions 😊
Beautiful colours and has inspired me to get my paints out 😁
Oh, I am so glad you liked the video! Thank you for watching!! ❤😺 ❤
Oh wow this is my dream palette! Thank you for sharing and your cat made me laugh ❤️
You are very welcome! 😺❤
The words mean “color” in Chinese. I have the 48 colors set. Love it ❤!
I love Baloo, give him a good cuddle please.
Awww, I absolutely will!!! ❤❤❤❤
What a great palette for portraiture! ThanQ for sharing.
You are so very welcome, thank you for being here 🥰
The best part: the cat jumping
I love gansai paints and this actually excites me. I hope that I can find sellers that would sell this or I can snag it when I (hopefully) go to Japan next year.
I love the ‘not in your face’ colors!
I love the muted colours too 😊❤️
You could probably compare them to "Maria's Traditional Chinese Watercolor" they are the closest to the "Kuretake Gansia Tambi" and are used in the same way, using the same brushes as well.
Japanese Sum-e and Chinese Brush / ink painting are related.
okay omg you have officially influenced me 😂😂 buying it now
omg noo it’s out of stock why💔💔💔
@@softandcosy They seem to have run out of stock today!! I am praying they get more stock in asap!! 🙌🙌💗💗
@@lilymoonart i hope so ahh!! it’s literally my dream colours in a box - i really hope it’s not limited edition 😭
Great video! These were on my wishlist from Amazon & now they are sold out. I regret not getting them when they were available. By the way, I enjoyed the kitty cameo ❤
I adore the swatching background on your watercolor paper. Did you paint it, draw it, or did it come that way. It’s so soft and antique looking.
I drew it and added a little Daniel Smith's Goethite to the corners to give a little softness to it 😊😊💗💗
@@lilymoonart Wow, it’s gorgeous! You’ve inspired me to up my swatching game. My swatch book is pretty plain, boxy, boring. I’m totally going to try this!
I already love this brand with a passion but this has me excited.
Wow such a beautiful palette!!
Thank you for sharing this video. I didn’t know they had a set like this. Some of the colours look really interesting and I’d love to get my hands on them. I own their 36 set which has a lot of blues and greens, but a couple of colours are apparently not lightfast.
These colors are so beautiful! I'm in love....! Thanks for sharing! Your swatches are art! ✨ Xoonani
aw, thank you so much!! 🥰
Please paint something with these beautiful watercolours🥰
It says ‘Gansai Tambi’ in an old skool font on the green box front. Thanks for the video. :)
I ordered these. They were 50.00 and well worth it. Thank you for these. They are really beautiful.
Oh, that is wonderful that you could order them!! They are such a beautiful and carefully curated collection! Enjoy!!! 😊😊❤❤
Hi Jenny, where did you find it, please ? I could not find it anywhere. Not available at Amazon Japon anymore.
Beautiful presentation. Love your unique design in swatching them out. I have the regular set of 48 is it? Love the paints. ❤️
Thank you! ❤️🙌😊
I got these paints too and they’re brilliant! Love them and all my Kuretake Gansai Tambis!
They are so wonderful, aren't they! Enjoy!! 🤗🥰
@@lilymoonart Thanks, they’re just perfect. I love my Roman Smzal, Paul Ruben’s, Rosa Gallery, etc., but there’s just something magical about Japanese paints.
Thank you for the video the colors are so lovely 😍😍😍
Gorgeous colours! Pro tip: you can so easily mix standard watercolour with white gouache to get the identical opaque effect. 😁😁😁
Excellent tip, thank you!! 🙌😊❤️
Thank you for a lovely swatching vid. I have the Kuretaki Gansai Tambi set in the green box. I picked up at Jerry’s Artarama when I was a framer there. I don’t know what it is about the Japanese paints but they’re definitely a little different in their pigment load and hue. I find it an enjoyable change from more traditional pans. I will say I wish the pans were a little fuller, though. Thanks again and keep up the great vids.
I kinda think of them almost as an inbetween of watercolours and gouache! Thank you for you watching and for your lovely comment! 😊❤️
Just found you and have subscribed, loved the swatching and gorgeous colours and balloons making an entrance lol
aw, thank you so much for joining our little community!! ❤❤😺😺 (Balloo says hi!)
I’m always interested to know if these paints are lightfast x
Those are stunning!
☺they sure are!! ❤❤
These colors are gorgeous
I do love this box and if it becomes available soon it will be mine before the winter is out! Nice video you do not need to apologise for anything. I liked your paint out very much, could see how the paint was behaving. Pretty sure the hospital will be happy you can occupy and distract yourself, you might have to make your own water arrangement though… they might even get you one of those over the bed table things, perfect.
I am so happy that you found the swatching informative! ❤I usually take a rucksack with me to the hospital with a couple of books, but next time I will take some colours and my sketchbook with me, and I'll make sure to take some water too 🥰
Hi! Just found them availiable on the amazon US site! Hope this helps! amzn.to/3UV6VKf
Ohh my, they're just made for me. The colors... I can't.
