- A special edition of the show providing an update on the people who participated in the first series. How have they been getting on since the cameras stopped rolling?
Three long-term families dependent on benefits are given a cash handout of 26,000 each, the current maximum yearly benefit cap for most families. In return, the families must agree to sign off benefits, and see if one large cash sum can turn their lives around for good.
The experiment asks the families to use the money in a way that can positively change their circumstances, make them happier and ultimately remove them from the benefit system. However, there are no strings attached and contributors will make their own decisions, spend money as they want but with the knowledge that they've given up their lives on benefits, and there's no more to come.
Will the families be able to grasp this extraordinary opportunity or will the temptations of a large sum of money in their bank account distract them from their good intentions of building a business or finding work?

Tonys wife does 8 hours in a sausage factory and comes home to sausage rolls 😂😂😂
Gotta love Tony what a humble man ..
My favourite comment so far 🤣🤣🤣🤣
No way she lasted at that job working Monday-Friday hahaha....
The sausage factory was Rachel's highschool nickname

Hahaha! I thought the same thing. Likely the last thing she wants to see.
Tony and Dianne were so humble and lovely. Their spoiling themselves was just an all you can eat, much less than all the other families. All Dianne needed to help her get a job was a bit of self confidence which she got through a makeover. Lovely family.

I really like Tony and Diane. They look like the kind of people that would give you the shirts off their backs if they were asked!
Why because they don't have much money? You can't assume something about someone when youu dont know who they are or what their like on a day to day basis.
The amount of pride Tony displays in regard to his van, business, and most importantly his marriage, just shows that he truly did deserve a chance. I hope Diane and he are doing well.

I'm still not convinced that Rachel is really looking for a job, or that she even wants one to be honest.
I wouldn't be surprised if she genuinely couldn't find a job, an accent like that gets you turned away from a lot of places.

Get rid of that high hairstyle and you might be taken seriously. You've got a long face dear or hadn't you noticed.

Love tony's positive mindset. Dude is always happy.
‘Orange segments with mint ice cream’ love him 😊
They were mandarin segments….that he didn’t realise that is gold.
The joy of Tony at the buffet was so lovely!! Tony and Diane are doing it right. You’ve e just got to work hard and keep a budget. They literally needed a hand up and they got up!
The single mom is back on benefits, has money to buy a very expensive African grey Perot, but didn't get a job, didnt Invest, and is back on welfare.
Kitchen upgrade, fancy dinner, ducks, overdue bills.... this is why I vote for smaller government haha
And we pay for it ffs
Knew she wouldn’t get a job!
Why's everyone calling her the single mom she's called the duck lady
@Prakash Gurung even in countries where people don't get handouts it's not unusual for the mothers to not work, they just end up in poverty and the dad never stops working
Rachel was more invested in buying a parrot and ducks for her daughter, an electric drum set for her son, and remodeling her kitchen than she ever was in investing in finding a job. That woman is just teaching her kids how to manipulate the system and others so you can still live comfortably while sitting on your a$$.
It's the government fault for making it so easy to manipulate
Can't lie and say I'm not disappointed. I was pleased to see she was able to pay her rent in advance and pay off all her debts but then where did the rest of the money go? To expensive pets... I don't think it's wrong to treat your kids but when you don't have a back up plan, it's pretty silly. You were given a generous amount to get you back on your feet and you did nothing with it... I know jobs are hard to find BUT if you really want it, you'll find it. It doesn't seem like she's motivated enough for me.
She does work now. She’s work at a train station in Liverpool, I see her nearly every morning when I go to work and she always has the biggest smile on her face.

I just happened to "stumble" across this series here on RUclips and was intrigued by the first episode and kept watching all of series one. Wonderful docu-series and looking forward to watching series two later today....

Bravely bought a bird and an iPhone.
That Rachael lassie had a pretty decent home for someone on benefits.
Correct, the state is very generous really
SPOTLESS
She's a professional SINGLE stay at home mom! I want HER job!!
@Daniel Wilson I was thinking the exact same thing. Why should she work when she is able to manipulate companies into getting what she wants, or conning men into buying her what she wants. The government is giving her too much too. Necessity is the mother of invention, without it there is no motivation or initiative to do better.
@@lilpinksliplee7310 its fot nothing to do with men. Women dont need men anymore. The government make sure of that by making it too easy for them.
If I'm being honest, I only watch for Tony and Diane. His personality and joy for life is rare and so refreshing. Considering their ages, they're saying it the most! Not only started their own business but work 3 jobs between them! And his pep is so contagious.

Rachel spent her money on drugs. Ducks, birds, and she went on holiday while Tony doubled his 26k and living life now 😂
So sad that in 2017 Tony had to close his business, but he is not back on benefits and works in security. And the single mom now has a job as an administrator at a rail company, and the guy with the animals is still in business doing well.
Rachel is one of those people with a rude attitude when she looks for jobs wich makes it clear to employers she isn't worth their time. She needs to change her attitude and stop pitting herself and acting rude.
Tony is a great bloke !

I'm not really happy about the care and husbandry of those animals, their enclosures look filthy to me, and way too small. And there's no quarantine of new animals. So obviously there's major health risks. Yikes.

Benefits are there for short term... every person said I couldn’t do this off benefits... yeah you are right, you should get a job and set up your own thing off the back of your own money
Scott and Leanne now employ 8 other people. Dianne got a job, first part time, then full time. Tony probably went under but supported himself for longer than he did before the experiment. If you add the benefit to the economy and the money you saved on benefits, you more than make up for the initial 26k upfront. That's the point. It's better than the other model.
