Check out this video of a Mack Trucks Elite Trident rolling down the production line at Mack Trucks Australia's production facility in Wacol, Queensland.
this is far more assisted/automated than Mack plant 5C final assembly line in Allentown back in the 80's. All Gone, except for the Macungie plant which was much more modern, by about 60 years. if I had not gotten laid off in 85 I would have retired from there next year.
I've always liked anything produced in Australia, anything that's made for Australian road conditions. Don't ask me why, since I'm neither from Australia, nor have I visited Australia.
If somebody from the Mack design team in the US reads this, I know they weren’t aerodynamic or roomy but why the heck did Mack stop building the R, RD 800’s, and the DM truck. Those trucks were built Mack tough.
Not silly. Volvo own Mack. They couldn't see the point of competing within themselves so they decided that if you want a bonnet buy a Mack. If you want a cabover you buy a Volvo.
since volvo took them over they've made good and bad choices for mack.should have kept the camelhump rear ends those merritors ain't worth a crap. along with the I shift, the clutch is always giving trouble...
as a driver i never liked macks, but understand why owners love them.tough as nails.my first assigned truck was a 1970 f model 237 5 speed.was common to be down to 2nd gear pulling 45k loads up mountains on interstate.but the old girl wouldnt die, much to my dismay.truck was so slow it was DANGEROUS of being hit other cars & trucks going near normal highway speeds.now i know how the amish feel in there horse & buggies with traffic flying by.your expecting to get rear ended at ANY minute.the truck was so gutless it was unsafe.the E6 300 wasnt much better even with a 6 speed.both of those engines made a cummins man out of me.even a 290 could outpull the macks on mountains.
Fantastic, not a robot in sight, long live Australia.
Just started as a Diesel Mechanic apprentice, this was quite interesting to watch.
beautiful trucks then and beautiful trucks now. And that beautiful gold bulldog on the hood. 👍

One has to admire the Australians. They always do things their way and for their own benefit. That seems to serve them well.
+Carl Napp I agree. It's a damn shame that we don't import from Australia, that a lot of what we use are made in China.
+Carl Napp I agree. That's the thing I don't like about politicians. They make promises, but then they don't live up to those promises.
Rare to see hand built wagons these days.
A Volvo with a Mack Bulldog on the front
Traditionally built in Australia for Australia
That's crazy! I've never heard of Mack trucks Australia. I've heard of Kenworth Australia, and perhaps Peterbilt, but never Mack Australia.
Buenos videos

Silly question. Do mack make cabovers in Australia. Just curious..

Would like to see Mack bring back cab-over trucks like the Cruise-Liner, Ultra-Liner and the Quantum.
