Mount the ARB dual compressor to a board or metal plate, then mount it right inside the bed after you open the tailgate on the passenger or driver side where its inset (think above the tie down loop on the inside near the tailgate). That is where I am mounting mine. However I have a Snap Outfitters Treehouse on mine, so its protected from the elements. I also have two 100 amp hour battle born batteries in the bed that I run the power to so again you may want to wait until you get a truck cap on to protect from the elements.
My '13 may be different under the hood, but I did make a 90 degree bracket to install my single ARB to the metal wall right behind the airbox on the passenger side. On the '13 there is a bit of space there between the airbox and the electricals on the firewall. I've considered getting a double, and I think if I turn my bracket 90 degrees I might be able to get it in the same spot vertically. I know a guy who has a later 4th gen that he mounted under the plastic inner fender well on the front driver side with a remote quick connect up higher under the hood. This requires removing the plastic fender well to access the area and mount it to the metal structure under there (tight fit), and then replacing the plastic fender well. Down side is that you can't easily access the compressor say if you need to do a repair or troubleshoot. I would never mount under the truck with all the elements (might do a remote air tank down there in the future). I would never mount in the cab. Just too loud for occupants and gets way to hot. The only other place I considered is in the bed somewhere closer to the cab, maybe attached to the inside of the bed wall vertically, either to the passenger side or same side at the front of the bed. Also, off-road, air down to 20psi (that's what my Stauns are set at) for 37x13.5 R17 Toyo MT E load. Your tires may differ due to sidewall construction.

I’ve spent a lot of time in Borrego Springs. My buddy’s mom lived out there for 30 yrs, was the principle of the HS IIRC. One of my funniest off road memories was of a tow truck stuck in the sand by one of the sculptures towards Coyote Canyon. He was stuck so bad we couldn’t even winch him out, down to the frame. They had to get a loader. He was the owners son too. 😂 Besides my old shop, JBA Speed in SD, all of the off road trails and adventure is what I miss most about CA. I love you videos, thank you!
Mine is under the backseat on the passenger side. I also mounted the computer head to the ARB Linx in the same spot just in front of the compressor. Works very well for me. Just FYI also, I had some problems out of the AEV steering components of the lift. Which they did not cover completely under warranty. Just FYI if your thinking of AEV for a lift. 2017 Ram 2500 less than 35,000 miles. Lift has less than 30,000 miles on it.
For ARB dual compressor, I have installed mine - Have a 2020 Limited Ram 2500 HD crew cab, with Carli Lift/Suspension and 37!inch tires on Method wheels - in the place of the original spare tire. My 37 inch spare is for now tied down in the bed and will be soon mounted on a dual swing arm rear bumper. Best spot I found for dual ARB compressor with enough air, accessible if needed. Next step is to have a custom plate to protect it from any impact.... so far so good... 😊
Great looking setup. I just picked up brothers 2006 dodge 2500 for overland build. I just happened to see this on diesel site for ARB compressor: Diesel Power Products (look at air compressor mounting brackets... Let me know what you think...probably keep away from mid body mount). Sorry, tried to paste a direct route, wouldn't let me post.
Home! I love the deserts and mountains in and around the entire San Diego County. My Dad used to take me off roading all the time as a kid growing up. When I got my drivers license I would continue the adventures and would buy my own 1980 Datsun 4x4 that was around 11 years old at the time and prior to my owning it, the truck had lived a very rough life. My next truck was a 1997 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 extended cab that I had bought brand new. That truck was night and day different from the first truck. Even though the truck was just your basic Tacoma 4x4 extra cab, it had crazy good off roading capabilities. In 2003, around 2 1/2 years after I got married, and my Dad, wife, kids and I all moved to Colorado, where she was from. The town is a small, predominantly agricultural area in the Northeast corner of the State, almost at the Colorado/Nebraska State borders that unfortunately have no good places to go out off roading and so as a result of that, if someone like me, who lives out here or lives in one of the surrounding areas, they and/or I have to drive at least a minimum of 2 to 2 1/2 hours just to get out to an off roading area. In 2007, I bought my second, new Tacoma. It was a 2007, Toyota Tacoma 4x4 extra cab TRD Off Road edition and it would out perform any of my previous trucks that I had in the past and also would go off roading in them too. When my kids got older I had to trade my Tacoma in on a full size truck so that my entire family could comfortably fit in the backseat of the truck. A few months ago I discovered this RUclips channel and have really started to enjoy it. The videos always bring back wonderful memories of home! I was planning on ordering what would have been my third Toyota Tacoma 4x4. This time a brand new TRD Off Road Pro. However, no dealership would sell one below MSRP and they acted as if I could not go anywhere else, other to them and that I absolutely had to only buy a 4x4 from them. As a result of that I shifted gears (no pun intended) and began researching and looking at new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon’s. In 2007, when I got hired at my job, I had to go to Cañon City, Colorado for about a month or so for training. There was a Jeep dealership right next to where I was staying at and one day I went in and looked at one and really started to like them. This was my first time seeing a Rubicon as well and I was very impressed by them and their stock, off road capabilities. After finishing training and returning home I began researching the new Jeep’s and was really starting to like them a lot. At the time I had no Jeep dealers anywhere close by to me so I knew that I would have to travel and order a Jeep at least 2 to 2 1/2 hours away. I eventually got in tough with a Jeep dealership in Cheyenne, Wyoming. They ordered my Jeep over the phone and we had a verbal agreement on the sales price. And fortunately, no deposit was ever put down on the Jeep. After it came in my salesman called me and told me that it had come in. I asked him to give me the out the door cost so my bank could finance it but that’s when the salesman upped the previously agreed upon sales price. Even after I showed him a copy of the emails and texts sent to me showing the previously agreed upon price. The salesman still wouldn’t honor his agreement and so as a result of that, I told him to pound sand and then bought my 2007 Tacoma instead. Shortly after subscribing to this channel I got the bug again and in November 2020 ordered a brand new 2021 JL Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited. It just came in this past Friday, on the 12th of February, 2021 and sometime this next week I will take delivery of it. I absolutely cannot wait to get it and already have plans to set it up to have it act as my primary off road vehicle. The first 2 add ons will be off road lights, Baja Designs Onyx 6, 50” LED light bar and then a shorter light bar for the front bumper as well as a winch. Next will be another identical light bar mounted on the back and then maybe even some smaller ones that are mounted on the sides of the roof. That way, if I need to turn night into day on some very technical terrain, I can totally do so. Or if I am volunteering on a search team for someone missing, I can illuminate a lot of things off trail. Or if a lost person is uninjured but is simply lost, they may be able to see my off road lights and hike towards them to get to rescuers and the search party. After those things get added to the Rubicon, I will then start adding things similar to the same things that are set up in many of the Jeep’s shown on this channel, for camping and staying off the grid for a certain amount of time. Back home my favorite “go to” place was at the very top of the Laguna Mountains, right before you started to drop down the mountain and head into the desert. The place at the top of the Laguna Mountains is called, “In-Ko-Pah”. Many awesome and amazing memories there.
Man, I miss the Gladiator, but that Power Wagon is wicked ... can’t fault you on the comfort & weekend trip superiority of a full-size truck. When it comes to weekend trips; my wife’s F-150 is better than my Wrangler.
The first time I went to Anza Borrego back in '89, we set off on Friday evening, didn't reach camp until dark and we couldn't really see a thing. The guy leading us also didn't say anything about the spot he'd chosen. I woke up the next morning, stepped out of the tent and looked out over Vista del Malpais. I was blown away. It's a spot with a similar view to Fonts point but it's a little further out. Back then you could drive close to the edge to pitch the tents, you can't do that now. Over the next couple of days we drove the whole length of Coyote Canyon from Borrego Springs to Anza because the trail was open for part of the year. I don't believe you can do that now either. It's closed to protect the peninsular bighorns.
When we get a new camp rig or accessories we always do a HAMPING (home camping) run-through. It helps to make sure you have what you need and most importantly that things Work. Just because something is New doesn't mean it Works out of the box! Lol
Hey Brad - great stuff as always! Just wondering if you sold your Power Wagon, and if so, why? I understand that turning over vehicles is part of the business plan - keeps folks interested with new content - but just wondering if there was a reason you didn't want to hang on to it. Thanks!

Hey there!! Thanks so much for making this video for us all! I have a ram 1500 (2wd) with some 35 toyo A/t3's you think I could handle the sandy areas on these trails??
I'd love to hear about your thoughts on this vehicle (or even all of the vehicles you've had the past few years) on the pros and cons of each vehicle from the power wagon to the gladiator to the JK to the 392. I've only been subscribed for a few months but I'm going back to some of your older content and am just curious what happened to the power wagon, if you hated it, still have it or what? I've watched all the power wagon videos but don't recall you ever discussing when or why you got rid of it or what you loved/hated about it. Could be a cool video idea to go through all the vehicles you've used since running this channel and giving your thoughts on each vehicle.
Hi Brad. Per your compressor question, I have a 1500, not a power wagon but I mounted my ARB compressor(single) under the bed and plumbed a quick disconnect next to the license plate on the bumper. I ran the on off switch into the bed (used the plate where the bed lights go since I do not have that option). I love the setup. I suppose it has its pros and cons, such as having to duck under or lift the tailgate to plug in, but I like the that aside from the hose, my compressor takes up no additional space in the vehicle. I also like being able to have everything closed in very dusty conditions, considering I also have a tonneau cover to help keep cargo pretty clean and dry. Oh... Also, I have a regulator on my air hose so I just switch on the ARB, plug in my hose to the quick connect and two tires at a time until it shuts off at the set pressure.
You're not gonna find a spot under the hood of most modern full sized trucks to put even a single ARB compressor. I also carry a portable, in the box with my recovery gear. I've never been to Slab City either, but heading there next week.
Brad I have to ask, whats with the trailor? It looks awesome, but the Power Wagon has massive ammounts of storage, much more than the Jeep or Gladiator. Dont you think your underutalizing the Power Wagon a bit by using the trailor for storage instead of the vehicle?
Hey Brad - another great video! Have you detailed the dash setup (and specifically the phone mount?) I was hoping for a similar "dash rail" like we can get for our Jeeps - but, can't find any decent options out there for the Ram.
My OCD is getting me. The mid-matched antennas between the cab lights. I wonder i they can be matched? Either 2 pucks or 2 shark fin... just a thought.

Awesome Video as usual! And you proof that a Ram Driver don't need to throw out the Towing Mirrors with a Trailer that size :) I wish the border would be open and i could come down the the overland expo! I think i have to go to my local Ram Dealer. I got my PW since a year now and it seems like canada gets different day-running-lights than the US. My Headlights(the frame you have when do normal driving) + my regular headlights(but dimmed) are always on. I like the style on your truck......weird that the countries are so different in this........
Your vids can be so simple yet very interesting. Can't wait till i get my Ram Rebel and start exploring. P.s. I take my Nissan sentra on some interesting terrain 🤓 IG: TRAIL_LIIFESTYLE007
I don't understand why would you drive with 50 lbs+ in your tire. That is the maximum the tire can handled stated by the manufacturer. The sweet spot is around 32 on asphalt. Anything after that you loose traction.
I've seen some people put a ARB air tank under the back seat. Also have seen them put a toolbox on the back of the truck and install an ARB there as well. With a tool box it give you another place to put your off road gear. Fire extinguisher emergency gear and whatever else you need.
I enjoyed this video, well done. I like your vehicle but those wheels would have to be “the most ugliest wheels” l have ever seen. 😬 Its good to see you spending some time on the trails with your son. I have been watching your channel for nearly two years now, yet l have never seen your wife in any of your videos. I’m assuming she doesn’t have the same passion for camping out, as you do.
Hey Brad! So I have a question that I haven't seen any Overland channel address. What do you do when you're on an a multi-day trip and nature calls? Do you use the old dig a hole method? Carry a portable toilet on your rig? What works best for you?
Odd question but any issues in Anza Borrego State Park with the ongoing border issue right now? Also looking to stop to fuel up in Octillo before the trail. Any issues in this area? Thank you
I mounted a full ARB Twin in the floorboard storage on my 1500 and it worked really well. Only downside was getting my kids to move their feet when I had to air up or air down.
Not the right solution for this truck, but Ramboxes are great for compressors and other devices. I have a second battery, isolator, compressor and hoses in the Rambox on one side. Clean, dry, and easy to get to. Also easy to power with the aux battery right there.
I have never gone to borrego springs in my jeep. Always on my motorcycle. Is it possible to see all these sights in a jku without Jerry cans? I dont have an extra fuel setup

One of my funniest off road memories was of a tow truck stuck in the sand by one of the sculptures towards Coyote Canyon. He was stuck so bad we couldn’t even winch him out, down to the frame. They had to get a loader. He was the owners son too. 😂
Besides my old shop, JBA Speed in SD, all of the off road trails and adventure is what I miss most about CA.
Remaking Awesome Memories!
R.A.M. !
I’ve been looking at the x1n non stop. I cannot wait for you to talk more about it. It may just push me off the edge to buy it.
Man, I miss the Gladiator, but that Power Wagon is wicked ... can’t fault you on the comfort & weekend trip superiority of a full-size truck. When it comes to weekend trips; my wife’s F-150 is better than my Wrangler.
Super appreciate the adventures....and the mistakes. Also love spending time with my boys out in God's creation...go Navy!
Awesome Trip ....If your Interested... Huell Howser (California’s Gold) did a show on Salvation Mtn , with a Interview of the Owner/Builder 👍😃
Great video Brad, nice trailer too - looks great behind that Power Wagon
Thanks 👍
When we get a new camp rig or accessories we always do a HAMPING (home camping) run-through. It helps to make sure you have what you need and most importantly that things Work.
Just because something is New doesn't mean it Works out of the box! Lol
I feel cheated by living in the north east. You have a lot of cool places to explore in your neck of the woods.
Hey Brad - great stuff as always! Just wondering if you sold your Power Wagon, and if so, why? I understand that turning over vehicles is part of the business plan - keeps folks interested with new content - but just wondering if there was a reason you didn't want to hang on to it. Thanks!
DID YOU ORDER THE CODE RED!?!?!
Brad- I did the job...
DID YOU ORDER THE CODE RED?!?!
Brad- YOU'RE GOD DAMN RIGHT I DID!!!
Have u also seen the recent videos about Rhino rack pioneer platform weight issue posted by Rohny Dahl and a few RUclipsr? What's your experience in the off road load capacity for Wrangler with Rhino rack? Thanks.
Hi guys. Traveling in one vehicle or a small group. Have you ever had any bad experiences with other people? Thanks enjoy your channel from a old guy in Iowa. The Gullywhomper.
I love seeing the full size trucks Overlanding. I drive a 1986 Diesel F-250 Supercab 4X4 longbed and wish I could find more full size videos. Love the vids. Keep going.
Why a Ram ? Is it diesel ?
I thought Rams don’t last past 60,000
Diesels maybe 200,000 if lucky
Gotta go with Ford is u want 300,000 and low maintenance
I was just out there exploring Anza-Borrego last Wednesday-Saturday! Have fun in Springfield!
Awesome Video as usual! And you proof that a Ram Driver don't need to throw out the Towing Mirrors with a Trailer that size :)
I wish the border would be open and i could come down the the overland expo!
Drove right past us at 5:59!
I don't understand why would you drive with 50 lbs+ in your tire. That is the maximum the tire can handled stated by the manufacturer. The sweet spot is around 32 on asphalt. Anything after that you loose traction.
Love the videos. The ram isn’t my cup of tea but love how much effort you put into the quality of your trips and videos! Thanks man!
Very, very nice video. I travel via Subaru Crosstrek, so I can't do all you do, but this video was so inspirational. Thanks.
Its good to see you spending some time on the trails with your son.
I love your new filming setup. The overall look has an awesome feel and cinematic vibe. Great Job!
I need myself a rig, just beautiful sights to see. Also I passed salvation mountain one time and it was very interesting but we didn’t stop.
Never did hear from you as to when you were a pecker checker lol. I take it that you were an 8404. I am retired 8404, 8493 and 8425
I have never gone to borrego springs in my jeep. Always on my motorcycle. Is it possible to see all these sights in a jku without Jerry cans? I dont have an extra fuel setup
Very nice setup! We have the X1-N Desert Ops. We love it!
When you are filming these Great shots, are you presetting the camera or do you have someone strategically placed to catch the on road movements. I love the way you edit these clips. Thanks for the showing of your adventures.
Forget the ARB and go with the ViAir Extreme. Works great and I bolted most of my system on the frame rails.
Hey brad awesome lil adventure, loving the new trailer, getting some dust on Casper is always good lol ,father son time is the best as always be safe 👍👍
I noticed a few regular cars at Fonts Point. What's your opinion on the road. Great video. Love Anza Borrego.
I’ve been to all these places too! Great stuff! So I love the power wagon and the color and the trailer but I have to say those yellow or red lights on the front grille look so dumb! They have to go. And do you really need those many leds? I have a jeep jk too and I’m going less and less leds the older I get. I have a ram rebel and wish I had the power wagon but like I said those front leds have to goooo!
Oh, I was there ..before all this sculpture bs. Yes, I am that old. But it is great to see the landscape. It seems timeless. No bps back then, just dead reckonin.
Great to see a trip in the pick up finally! More folks have pickups than Jeep’s so it’s good to see you do a trip in that. Thanks. I enjoy your channel
Kleinn makes an on board air system for full size trucks. I believe it mounts to the frame rail, behind the bed, on the passenger side of the truck.
I noticed the shot of The Band’s song The Weight. Look up Aretha Franklin’s version it is great!
Man, I just can't see paying that much for that trailer when you compare it to the Black Series of campers and what you get there.
i would like to take your opinion regarding which drives best : the jk , gladiator or the Ram ? and why ? thanks
My son and hiked down to the bottom of the grand canyon, ate lunch and hiked back up. It would have been better to have over nighted at the bottom. Whew! What a hike!
What do you think about those squirrels in your engine when it is cold? Think there is a secret fix ram does not want to pay to put out or that is just the way the engine sounds?!? I am on the fence with mine.
I got lost :o
I took freeway 15 to 79 then 371 which led me to 74 and all the way doing to 10. Something was telling me not to take 371
arb on the engine side of the hood or one of the bed inner space?
