Next time if you visit India, you should come to tadoba, kanha, nagzira or ranthambore. There're some very big and beautiful tigers out there in those parks. The dominant male of Kanha, Munna, for ex, is very big and at the same time pretty. The wagdoh male of tadoba is the current champion in terms of sheer size though. A massive tiger with an abnormally large neck and thick powerful body, he's about 10-11 yo and easily 1.5 times the size of Bamera.
Hi Asianbuffalo, we obviously did not leave the jeep but he passed close by in front and we have seen many tigers in the Indian Parks and Bhamera is certainly one of the biggest we have seen. I think your estimate is reasonably accurate, and his very presence was awesome. Thanks for watching and I am glad that other people are enjoying the majesty of the great Bhamera!
..known as Pattewala, which was another giant, sometime in 2011. But the most impressive feat he's done is defeating the link 7 male aka Naak Kata, a massive and aggressive tiger even bigger than the first two, time and time again. Munna is huge, beautiful, charismatic and normally laidback, but he's a living legend.
Hello Asianbuffalo, sorry if this posts twice! Did not go first time! Yes we have been to Ranthambhore, Kanha, Pench, Periyar and Sundarbans, the first three are our preferred stops but I take note of your other suggestions. We did see Munna briefly as we went to Kanha this time but the jeep reversed too slowly for me to grab the footage! Also saw a beautiful delicate tigress, scared off by a park worker on a bicycle! Thanks for your information,.
*Bamera died in 2016. He was a descendant of the legendary Tiger "Charger" that dominated the "Bandhavgarh national forest" in the entire decade of the 90s.*
Thank you Nayan this footage was some time ago. We saw the Charger memorial sign in the park too. Sad to know Bhamera has passed away. A magnificent tiger.
You have inspired me to dig out the footage of T17 from my old video camera. It is not as good as my latest vidcam but I am working on cutting a decent length of footage of T17 when she had her radio collar on in 2010. I believe recently she has had three cubs, so she seems to be thriving which is wonderful, we have seen her a few times. Keep watching my channel or just search for Flying Tigress on You tube soon! Thank you for all your information and interest. I am always interested!
He's indeed one big male tiger. He has a full belly here. Did you guys come close enough to get a good gauge on his shoulder height? From all I've seen of him, this big boy stands around 1.05 m/3.5ft at the shoulder.
Thx man, you're welcome:). And yeah, whenever you can, please post photos and footages of tigers like this one here. They can and will inspire more and more people to learn more about tigers as a species, and contribute their efforts towards conserving them.
Thx a lot for your info, much appreciated:))! I've never had a chance to see this beast first hand so always have to make do with available pics and footages of him, and honestly, Bamera with respect to his body frame, is among the most well-built tigers out there. There are much bigger tigers out there in terms of shoulder height and head-body length, like Star male and T-24 in ranthambore, but relative to their huge size, they're not as bulky as big Bamera.
These are some of the footages of the mentioned male tigers I've come across on youtube: Munna, a very huge male, quite a bit bigger & taller than Bamera. You can see the size of his massive head and paws: watch?v=mrT9PUp92fc Banda,a giant killed by Munna around 4-2009: watch?v=etU2j2eHNlQ Pattewala the huge radio-collared male of kanha, also killed by Munna in 2011: watch?v=MQm9gIIuhi8 And the biggest of them all, Wagdoh, slightly bigger than Munna watch?v=ud65__tu1pM
So u've seen T-17,great! She's the most dominant of the 3 daughters of Machli. Her weaker sister,T-18, reached 170kg in weight at 27-28 months old &was transferred to Sariska to re-create the then extinct population of tiger there. Ranthambore tigers are very exotic-looking and pretty huge.T-17 is similar to Bamera in terms of shoulder height &length. Also,if you like pench, there's one very famous tigress there,Collarwali. She's a very big &beautiful tigress herself...
..& was featured in the BBC documentary called "tiger spy in the jungle" a few years back. She's the daughter of a big male tiger called Charger and the well-known tigress Badi Maa. Munna of Kanha is also one of the best males in India to be seen. He's the most powerful male of Kanha who has defeated all tigers there're to be defeated in the last 5 years to remain on top.Munna killed a gigantic tiger named Banda in 4-2009 without having any visible injuries. He also slayed the radio-collared male
Hi Asian Buffalo, I have posted a video of T17 that you will like.. This version only plays on PC or MAC not mobile. Just search for Flying Tigress T17. Enjoy!
Sorry Asian buffalo, I keep just posting a comment rather than replying to you! Just read the latest comment and details, because you have inspired me to dig out old footage of T17 to create a video to post on line! Thanks for your encouragement!

Kaziranga tigers are generally giant...due to abundance of prey
