  • We work on a P73 TypeR intake manifold much like we did on the P30 and share ideas and approach when it comes to the runner length and on the 2nd order of harmonics tuning.
Alot of times people think because certain rpm is not for them or within reach then its of less importance, here we share how to take advantage of it including reference dyno comparison of a p30 b18 and a p73 b18 as well as the venerable B16a H3autoworks did with a ported p73 and how we ran 12.7seconds on that without slicks and on pump gas
Hopefully this gives you guys ideas and inspire to shoot for more efficiency

Vw adage’ was if u have too big of a weber? A decent snappy sized cam is good
If you are teetering on it being small? A big cam would help “to a point”
So same as having a small cam go big webers for a bit more oomph

I trust you’re keeping well, I was hoping to find you on IG as I don’t do FB.
Would you be so kind as to share your opinion? The goal is to run on pump fuel, that I can daily and race on the odd occasion.
I have a b16a6 S4C gbox, JDM ITR OEM pistons. 63mm 1 box exhaust with 4-2-1 headers, SRI, chipped ECU, warlboro 255, stock head.
I’ve acquired another head which I’d like to fit.
Buddyclub dual valve springs, Buddyclub P1 flat face valves. Head is ported, skim and some work done in the combustion chamber, slightly ported between the valves.
Supertech valve stem seals, Supertech guides
    Also came with:
    Ported blox intake manifold
    Speed factory 70mm TB
Speed factory Thermo gasket Port matched.

I’ve been advised to go skunk 2 pro 2.

After watching your video on porting a P30 Manifold and resonance. I am leaning towards ditching the Blox intake and porting a P30 manifold. Would be nice to do a Dyno comparison between the 2 intakes running the set up above.

@@JA_S_ON wow that’s a nice sounding set up! Odd my personal IG says SRD so I might make it SRD official lol it’s ralfsrdms
On cams if limited on Ecu tuning? The pro2 u will have a hard time so a pro1 or if possible a budddyclub spec3 (slightly bigger than a TypeR) is good. Heck to save u cost a CTR cam works
But then again the magical “R” does get expensive lol
Another trick choice is a crower 402A
A lot don’t mention it cuz everyone’s fb friends are expert and suggest what they read not do 😂
But the letter A on crower 402A (not 402) means the primary and secondary lobes are “slightly” hotter than a CTR spec and Ofcourse the vtec lobe is 402. This would let u have good drivability on limited tuning
Keep the blox manifold but cuz u have the p30 enjoy the p30 first for free :)
      Crower 402A is nandos x
      And
      Crower 402 is nandos xx
      If talking about primaries
Which relates to idle too so atleast it’s a decent approach

@@SRDmotorsports Thank you. Your perspective is invaluable. I am no engine builder however I can grasp a bit of physics here and there.
I came across another srdmotorsports account, will search for ralfsrdms instead 👍
I’m not sure how limited I am on ECU tuning, as mentioned I have a Dastek Unichip with Vtec controller and Rev module. It’s not in the same conversation as other more well known units that replace the oem ECU completely like hondata, fueltec and haltec.
Lotsa truth in what you’re saying. Crowers are less popular over here although we have run 403’s on a mild non Vtec LS set up that was crying for S4C ratios. We did however run BC Spec5’s on a LSVTEC and they were immense, this build however had an extensive list of mods. Nowadays we might be better off going K for the same money.
I do understand what you’re getting at in terms of cam choice, I’m not really phased as long as it suits the setup which you’ve so kindly explained.
Locally you could pick up CTR cams for the same price as BC spec3’s. I’ll be looking into Pro1’s or the 402’s as you pointed out 👍
I’ll definitely hold onto the P30

@@Shadowwolf7774 depends if the engine is needing more “induction” or what…
it’s why I never check it with “how much hp” cuz everything affects one another…
Example lacking induction = a good cam can help somehow and the engine will think it has a “better manifold” (all about valve timing)
but then too big of a cam u lose midrange if ever? Then a better induction with good runner airspeed can help gain some midrange while sti helping top end…
In this platform it’s easy to “over cam” thats why airspeed is a lot of times big help
