Coming from a parents point of view. I was raised with a strict father, loving mother and strong boundaries to always show respect and work hard.
When I had my son I raised him the same way. When I divorced his father when he was young, his father did everything opposite that I did. Tried to be his son’s friend, gave him $ he didn’t earn, spoiled him, gave him drugs, etc.
Basically destroying everything that I tried to teach my son.
      The drugs won over.
My son went from an A student, caring respectful young man to a bipolar guy that his dad feeds with drugs. He’s now incapable of attending school working, etc. as he also went psychotic.
No matter how hard I fought, doctors, courts, etc. the father managed to ruin his life.

Yea because he's a failure as a parent and doesn't want his creation of neglect to be in his face. And old ass people fail to take any accountability for raising their kids poorly and instead blame genetics or their friends.
He clearly got what he wanted, and the minute he didn't, he screamed so they gave in to quiet him. To the point that when anyone even tries to cross him, he goes off. He was enabled to behave that way.
I would be so ashamed and embarrassed if my son was walking around talking like that. They don't care. Because they neglected him.

he's expecting a tiny charge. that's why he was so ready for the cuffs, and asked "you guys are gonna lock me up now?" in the beginning. He thinks he is getting an assault charge, and likely thinks he'll get probation, or similar. He really had no idea that his world just changed forever. I bet when that 22 years was read out, and probably when they upgraded the charges, his heart dropped. He still has a chance to get out in his 30-40s, unfortunately, but maybe he can become productive if so.

Unless it's children or other like a care home, past shouldn't effect his ability to be productive some day. But it will and does. This is a huge part of why felons keep getting new charges. Can't make money but have to survive somehow
