- Yesterday I have filmed the all new 2020 MINI John Cooper Works GP (JCW) on the Nurburgring. It was presented during the parade lap of the 24h Nurburgring. You will hear the start up sound, revs and acceleration!
The 2020 MINI JCW GP has a turbocharged 4-cylinder with around 300HP and is a limited production of 3000 pcs!

Had an r53 gp in 2005 for a year and a bit, great little car and was going to get the gp2 but opted for car I’ve wanted for years, e46 m3 manual, no sunroof and in silver grey. What a machine, and still is even though 2004, rwd naturally aspirated rocks.

R53 sound for me! The others just won't do it :')
Misses the awesome R53 supercharger whine, and automatic shifters dont sound as good as manuals because the shifting is too fluid. Its good for track times, but bad for driving experience.
Looks like someone's kid went crazy with a box of crayons all over that car.

Just take a "regular' jcw, chip it and you have also 300 or more hp.
I didn't hear one single pop or crack throught the entire video from the new gp!!😭😭😭I hope that isn't a thing to come from the brand because it's half the fun of my f56 s model?
Yeh i know now the crackle and pop is gone! Because of the vw scandal a similar device to a dpf is now fitted to the exhaust and the car runs much leaner😭😭. Same power but no pops!!
John yep all those things are gone and cars are quieter. Drove a brand new jcw last week and literally makes no noise. There are crackles on idle but once you get going its practically mute. No pops for sure
@@iiNNeX That is not true. I have a 2018 F56 Cooper S LCI without OPF. It pops and bangs on downshifts and cracks on upshifts, but in a different way than the pre LCI did.
The first OPF production of F56 Cooper S with OPF sounded too tame. They then changed production at the end of 2018 and the OPF version got loud! In 2019 they changed it again and now it has a weird sound. From then on it sounds totally different from pre LCI, LCI without OPF and first two production phases with OPF.
Recently, I drove a 2019 JCW with OPF. It doesn't crack on upshifts, but it does pop and bang on downshifts. Way more pops and bangs than mine actually. The overall sound is disappointing though and the lack of upshift cracks makes that I won't buy a Mini with OPF anytime soon.
That said, I have some interesting news. Somewhere end of 2019 Mini will introduce a new Pro exhaust for the current LCI line up. Not only for F56/F57(/F55) but for F54 LCI and F60 OPF too.

I understand that it'll use same engine as the new BMW m135i which has just over 300bhp but BMW will have xdrive.
Dont know how the mini will put its power down if it has the same power

Jake Carson nahh. It was functional because of the super charger before. The r56 started the trend of turbo engines so the hood scoop became non functional
Yeah I know they aren't functional. But I thought maybe since the gp3 is special they would've made it work somehow. I mean there are two intake systems out there ATM (eventuri and Duell ag) that uses the hood scoop which makes it function. But it just costs 2.5k AUD.

@@TheMINIac it will come with both or they'll make a similar with manual.. DCT is faster always so DCT for track records and manual for the pureist that knows how to drive å car.
