Hey Jordan, been meaning to thank you for the repair of my Yamaha preamp back in July or June I can't remember. The thing sounds amazing once again thank you again for the great work

      Youre welcome.
Remember to exercise any switch, button or control not normally used. They clean themselves when used and it will help prevent oxide buildup and channel dropouts

I serviced a Pioneer SX 929 receiver with one channel out, turned out to be a dirty treble pot. I replaced a few capacitors and display lamps, it like this one was in pristine condition and sounded beautiful. My only complaint about the design besides the speaker connections is the power on function being part of a selector switch.

Your assessment is more kind than what went through my head. Dropping off and picking up from a local legit small business saves a mountain of potential headaches.

Nice work. I love these old pioneers. My daily is an sx-727.

The 727 was my second real stereo. First was a 636, which i never liked.
The 727 was driven hard and I loved the sound. Met an untimely death at a party when someone spilled their drink inside.

My first Pioneer and favorite Pioneer was the SX-626. Nice, sweet sound with efficient speakers. Wish I still had mine, my Fulton FMI-80 loudspeakers would sound great with it. Yes, Jordan, the *36 series is when the speaker connectors changed. I bought my used, super well cared for example in 1988, paid $45 for it.

Sometimes the "KISS" method is still the best. Often times its something simple. But still, I am a perfectionist when it comes to my soldering.. I never would have let something like that go out the door. Always check your work! Thanks for the video sir. Hope things are getting better for you!

Just a little remark, this is probably not a 72 model, it's a late model, from 74 or 75 i guess. They changed the layout of some panels, and the tuner board is more integrated in model, with more chips, the 72 model has much bigger tuner board, and it doesn't have that little heatsink on that sanyo D313 transistor on the power board.

Well that was rapid, and not so much editing :-D
Dodgy joints can be a right pain, sometimes i have blanket soldered a pcb to fix it.
    it's something i don't do unless i have to.
There was a cybernet based c.b radio that always had a guaranteed vco failure.
i always blanket soldered around the vco area, Every one worked perfect then.
Odd it happened on every one.

I have a SA-8000x that has a Humm in the front right channle i need to track down it will go away after 3 mins of being on .
I disconected the inputs from the selector to the Amp board. so it seems to be in the amp bord. :(
but after the humm disapears it runs fine and quiet..

Anyone know what the white wire that is just hanging in the air taped to the output coupling cap? Kind of seems like an antenna that could bring in noise, not sure why you would want a floating wire in circuit...

hopefully whoever did the recap compensated the owner for you to fix their half-baked effort. I would have checked the bias and offset though, given what they missed it would be reasonable to assume they didn't bother adjusting the amp.
