Crazy how they went from big point to point tube units to these mid 70's looking ones in just a few years

I love the amp troubleshooting stuff, and this one is right up my alley. I wonder if the transistor died of natural causes, or if it had help? I have a feeling that the plot is going to thicken.
My theory is an ongoing problem with the leaky capacitor at the output of the preamp was over biasing the input of the amp and the class a driver just gave up. The channel went DC and opened the fuses and the sorted class a pulled down the supply resistor, burning it open causing the offset in the left channel. Eventually the speaker attached gave up and shorted, opening the pico fuses in the left channel as well
I found one of these while cleaning out a cabinet at our church. Stored alongside is a service manual copyright 1970, 16 pages some of which fold out. If you need a copy I can probably scan it.

@@tchads_57 make a dim bulb tester and fire it up on around a 100w bulb. That way if something decides to go south it won't kill the machine

Are these old Fisher's worth fixing and do they sound good ?
I know where to get a couple that are in need of repairs.
Anything made by Fisher before they were purchased by Sanyo is worth fixing.
@@JordanPier an old man in our neighborhood died recently and his son is selling off all his electronics.
And I mean an incredible amount of stuff.
I already bought a Dynakit mark 3 and 4.
I bought a variac and powered up the Mark 4.
Yesterday I bought a Thomas Organ tube amp with original tubes.
There's 3 old Fisher receivers sitting on the shelf. All tube. I'll ask how much.

..wonder why it even happened..the 69'-71' Fishers are very well built..not the prettiest..but sound and build is extraordinary..
Sometimes parts just fail.
