    How can I find one, everything is sold out lol

    • @WhyBuy

      Hey @Mattedmz, I feel your pain. Specialized is one of the those brands that doesn't sell online and you are only able to purchase from your local shops (which may have the ability to purchase online). I would suggest following the link in the description to the specialized site and their site will guide you to bike shops in your local area who carry their bikes. I would start there by either calling or checking stock online at these shops. If you cant find one, you might be out of luck for 2021, this bike and specifically this price point of bike is very fast to sell out.
      We have included some other links as well to online retailers that you might have more success with although you wont be able to buy the specialized from them. If this is something you wind up having to to, I do recommend that you have a look at Co-op DRT 1.1 and 1.2. They're 2 very underrated bikes at this price point. Hope this helps!

      @@WhyBuy heyy appreciate the response. I've looked into the Co-op bike & seems like a very solid entry level MTB. I was just really looking to get a Rockhopper Comp or Sport even, would go for the elite but it is a little out of my budget for now. I checked specialized website, but everything is sold out. I checked with nearby locations & no luck. Only way I'd be able to get one is if I travel 500+ miles to a bike store that has it, but definitely not doing that lol. It's a lost cause, wish I looked sooner. I'll probably look into a co-op to hold me up in the meantime tho, thanx for the recommendation!

    I think the main reason they did away with the front derailleur, apart from simplicity, is so that there is more clearance there. Nearly every high end mountain bike these days is this way.

    I bought a base Rockhopper in 2020 and I gotta say the one gear in the front is so much better. I have three in the front and I never use them at all, seems like a waste, more weight and complexity. I am planning on going to a 1X in the front and perhaps also changing the cassette in the rear accordingly. I love these bikes and they are so capable from the factory. I've added a few goodies to mine and it's phenomenal for most of what everyday people will do! 💚💚💚💚

    I bought my first 29er MTB. I’m pretty new at biking. I really like riding the flat trails. I’m a big guy in the mid 300’s and was looking for a bike but didn’t want to break the bank...or the bike! But I found one. It’s a 2019 or 2020 specialized comp. i spent around 750-800 bucks. I got it last year and because of my work schedule, I was only really able to ride it just a handful of times. But I’m getting back into it. But like I mentioned, I’m still kinda new and I’m learning things as I go. I’m wondering if my bike is a hard tail. It says Rockhopper and has XCM forks. In your opinion, do you think this is a good starter bike for heavy riders? I’m only riding on asphalt bike paths and fine gravel. Not riding in the woods like this video , even though I think that looks fun but I’m a big guy and that’s a little bit too much for me and my bike! So, tell me what u think? Is my bike a hard tail and is it a good bike for a big guy like me just starting out? I got it to help me loose weight and have fun loosing!

    • @jaysunmai
      @jaysunmai 3 года назад +2

      Awesome bike! Glad to hear you’re getting back into riding. Yeah, the Rockhopper is a hard tail mountain bike. Hard tail just means that it only has suspension on the front, which in your case, is provided by the XCM fork. Happy riding!

    • @stevehunter7402
      @stevehunter7402 3 года назад +5

      Keep it up! Ride 3 or 4 times a week, even if it’s only 15 minutes. You don’t have to ride for hours to loose weight if time is a problem. Cut back on meat. Cut out as much sugar as possible. Eat just a little bit less than you’re eating right now. Get lots of sleep (most important)
      The more you exercise, the more tired you’ll be, then you will sleep better.
      Your mood will tell you how you’re doing. If you’re happy every day keep it up.
      If you’re miserable every day, change your routine.

    They also got rid of the multiple gears in the front is because of the gear shifting. Sometimes the chain would get stuck between the front sprocket and the rear sprocket. Chain slap too, meaning peeling paint or chipped paint. Today's bicycle technology have calibrated the gears and the chains in which it's easier to ride with 9, 10, 12, or 13 gears. One more thing. are you going to also do the giant towel on mountain bike series? I recently purchased a Giant Talon one that's in desert sage paint or black and it's great with an air fork! Under $1,000 too!

    Hey man, great review. I'd like to ask you a question. More specifically what would you recommend for someone who uses the bike for 70% flat roads and 30% on hills and trails. Which bike would you recommend that is also great for climbing steep hills? Specialized rockhopper 29 sport or Gt avlaanche 29 sport. Thanks in advance mate.

    • @WhyBuy
      @WhyBuy  3 года назад +1

      Hey @Kelemen_ Robert, a hard tail bike like this would definitely meet the need for use on the trails 30% and be fine for use on roads the rest of the time. Depending on how hard you want to ride the bike on the hills and trails would really be where you would decide how much to spend. If you dont plan on riding the bike hard (higher speeds, heavy braking, jumps, drops. etc) you might be able to get a way with a lower cost mountain bike, but other wise this price point and up is where you want to be for sure. From looking at the GT avalanche and comparing the rockhopper comp, they look very comparable. The price point of both of these bikes is entry level with fairly similar components, but you can still really get into mountain biking and push them without having them break on you. I think it will be tough to get your hands on either so I would suggest picking up the first one in your size you can find. You wont be disappointed either way. Hope this helps!

      Hi @TheRealMorganFreeman, from using this A LOT over the last year, I have had no issues climbing on beginner to intermediate trails. And I live in the rocky mountains, so there are a lot of steep climbs even on those trails. 700USD for the Comp29 is pretty much if not more than the price you would buy this bike for new.(Mine was $1000CAD). You may want to check the model of the bike you found as it could be a different rockhopper model (there are multiple models of the Rockhopper that can range from 400-500 all the way to closer to 2000). You will see big differences in the components that come with the bikes at the different price points. Hope this helps!
