- a chatty catch up, where I've been, what we have been doing and of course, of course we can't go without including desserts, can we?

Brownies
3 ripe bananas (around 300 g)
200g greek yogurt
3/4 cup 2 tsp vanilla extract
80g Coconut Sugar
60g oat flour (blended oats)
90g cocoa powder
1/2 tsp salt
80g dark chocolate
40g walnuts
Directions:
Preheat oven to 180/350 F mash banana, then add yogurt, vanilla & sugar mix until combined. add oat flour, cocoa powder, mix well fold in chocolate chips and walnuts, bake for 25 - 30 minutes.
Vegan Cheesecake Bars:
BASE:
1 cup (250 mL) raw hazelnuts
1 cup (250 mL) Medjool dates, pitted
1/4 cup (60 mL) unsweetened shredded coconut
1/4 tsp (1 mL) sea salt
VEGAN CHEESECAKE LAYER
1 1/2 cups (350 mL) raw cashews
11/4 cups (310 mL) blackberries, divided
3/4 cup (180 mL) full-fat coconut milk,
the creamiest top of the can 1/2 cup (125 mL) lemon juice
1/3 cup (80 mL) maple syrup 4 Tbsp (60 mL) melted coconut oil, cooled
Directions:
Quick-soak cashews:
bring 2 1/2 cups (625 mL) water to boil in medium saucepan. When boiling, add cashews, cover with lid, and turn off heat. Let soak for 30 minutes and then rinse with cold water.
Preheat oven to 350 F (180 C).
Place hazelnuts on parchment paper-lined baking sheet and roast in preheated oven for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring halfway through, until golden brown and fragrant. Set aside to cool. As hazelnut skins are often bitter, when cooled, place toasted hazelnuts in clean dish towel and rub vigorously to remove skins.
Line 8 x 8 in (16 x 16 cm) baking dish with parchment paper 8 in (16 cm) one way and 8 in (16 cm) the other way, leaving enough at the top to grab and remove cheesecake bars from dish when done.
In food processor, pulse toasted hazelnuts until texture of finely chopped nuts. Add dates, coconut, and salt; pulse until well combined. Press hazelnut mixture into base of parchment paper-lined baking dish to make an even layer and set in freezer to firm up.
for the filling:
To high-speed blender, add soaked and rinsed cashews, 1/2 cup (125 mL) blackberries, coconut milk, lemon juice, maple syrup, and coconut oil. Blend until smooth. Pour onto base layer and top with remaining 3/4 cup (180 mL) blackberries. Freeze for 4 to 6 hours.
Remove from freezer and let sit out for 10 to 15 minutes before pulling parchment up to remove cheesecake from baking dish. Cut into bars and store in sealed container in freezer.

@@gisellewaldner9406 I don't think I have ever heard of your colony's attitude towards television. Do you have one? If so are there some limits to watching? The colony I visited in 1978 didn't allow it but there is no real such thing as "TV" anymore, everything is content. Whether you watch it on a phone, tablet or TV really makes no difference so I wonder how your colony regards "old time TV"
@@jethro1963 the actual screen we don't have although we use them in school because our classes are like a zoom call so we use the TV screens for that, we do watch RUclips though.
Hi Giselle, don't worry about getting things "perfect" and showing your daily routines over and over. We come to your channel (many of us) as an escape from the craziness in the world. We enjoy your company and your thoughts on your life. This video reminds me of the longer videos you were doing 2-3 years ago. Please do more of these. I love hearing the wind blowing, the leaves rustling it makes it feel so real. It's been so hot here that we stay under a heat warning, 110 degrees is more than I can handle!😂 So finding things to do indoors. This was a lovely chatty vlog, you should do more of them. Have a wonderful week ❤❤❤❤

I am in northern-ish Minnesota, a couple hundred miles to the Canadian border. We have had very dramatic weather this summer . Either crazy hot and humid or chilly with no in between.
Oh yes, one can travel miles without leaving our backyard which in itself is a wonderful thing. 😊

Such a lovely chat, Giselle. I felt like I was visiting with my neighbor. Like you, I just pick up a book and enjoy it. It's hard to critique books that I know took a great deal of effort on the part of the author. We haven't had much in the way of rain this month either but our June and July soaked us. We are getting a nasty heatwave at the moment and I am hoping it will quit soon. I miss my cooler weather. God bless you and all of the colony!!

I go to the Mayo Clinic for some diagnostic testing next week for my pancreas issues. Please remember in your prayers. Hopefully I will not need to return to there again. I got chickens in the spring and they are laying eggs now! I am so happy. Got a double yolk last week. Love seeing your dog. We have a whippet breed dog, he is such a ham..haha.. he hasn’t met anyone he doesn’t like. Hope to see a another video soon. We are going to our NC mountain home this week before my medical appointment.. I am so excited. Talk soon.

Hello Giselle, nice to see you.
Our whole August was rainy and cool to cold. We even got down to single digits last week and even some trees leaves turned yellow and stared to fall. Then it stopped raining and the heat kicked on. Because the ground was so saturated that once it started warming up it got humid. Very, very, humid. Yesterday we hit a top temperature here this year. Here in central Alberta 32.2C , which was the high for the year with the previous warm day was 31.8 in June. Really 32.2 isn't unheard of but with the high humidity it felt awful. We went to visit our son at his new home to deliver some packages for him he ordered quite a while ago, before he moved but before he bought his new house out in the country. Well his place is only about 10 - 15 minutes outside Sherwood Park but since he wasnt sure where hed be when his parcels arrived he naturally just sent them to mom and Dads house. We were going to barbecue some burgers and eat out on his deck but it started to get s little later in the evening and out came the mosquitoes. It wasn't a very pleasant meal. Not because of the place or the company but the severe humidiity, heat and mosquitoes. It was such a shock to our system because we are used to very dry air. Once it gets cooler out everyone gets their humidifiers out. I was trying to enjoy eating my burger but I had sweat rolling down my face. When it drips in your eyes it really burns them. Then you have to swat those blood thirsty mosquitoes.
Love your little life and all your videos. Glad you are getting rain, we are in a severe drought here in Louisiana and need a few prayers. The farmers are loosing their crops and our ground is full of large cracks, not to mention the fires. ! Rain...Rain.. please come soon!! Love to you all❤❤❤

Kona is such a character, she made me laugh!🐕🤣That was a really good idea using a fan to take the leaves out of the choke cherries! I used to sell plants on a market and I had to use rain water to water carniverous plants but I wasn't dedicated enough to collect it for all the others!🌧😂

Hi Giselle, you're looking really well, the busy summer season suits you. We've had an awful lot of rain this summer in the uk, all through July and August, hoping September is a bit drier.
I like Kate Morton but not so much The Clockmaker's Daughter, I liked The Secret Garden the most. I think you would enjoy books by Kate Atkinson. She can be a hit and miss but Life after Life and A God in Ruins were both very good.
Always take a nap if you have the chance, nothing wrong with a little power up x

It was wonderful to see another vlog from you. Kona is such a sweet dog, always well behaved, too. We've had some awfully hot, humid days, too, and a break in that cycle is so very welcome. We've canned all or green beans and now are in the process of canning tomato juice, and eating them, of course. We've also given some to friends and family. None go to waste. We got 2 new kitties in July. One bonded with my husband and one with me. They're so cuddly and purr loudly. We're seeing signs of an early fall with changing leaves, migrating birds and butterflies. Soon, snow will be flying, and I dread that. Meanwhile, thanks again for your latest vlog, and for your uplifting attitude. God bless you.
Aww how adorable, we will also be canning tomatoes soon we need so many things that sometimes it can feel overwhelming but once we start with our big crew it's not too bad 😊

Love the long format. You are so hardy! It's hot, there is poison ivy, ticks, thorns....I'm not wearing layers of clothing, there would just be no chokecherries--they'd be staying on the bush!
