    Lol, filled bottomless pits, reduced hitpoints for bosses and much easier platforming. Weird how they gave up on editing the game after the rollerskating level though, I remember having a lot more trouble with the game after that. I even took a break from the game as a kid, as I couldn't even figure out how to beat the level! It wasn't until months later that I figured out that you had to hold down a specific button to make Pac-Man run with the roller skates, making him jump further forward!
    Oh, by the way, how do you think "Pac-Man World 3" holds up compared to the first two? I'm just going by my memory here, but I absolutely hated that Pac-Man would talk and make cringy jokes in the third game. Wasn't a huge fan of the "open world" approach they had to the game either, especially since it involved more switch pressing and backtracking.

    • @evan2902
      @evan2902 2 года назад +2

      A lot of it has to do with how video game rentals were handled back then. In America, it was pretty popular (hell I remember when grocery stores rented out games- that's actually how I first got my hands on this game when I was like six or seven) but in Japan IIRC that was illegal. Therefore, games would be made harder in America so kids couldn't beat them on a weekend rental. Granted, that was more of a thing in the NES era but this game is sort of proof that a similar mentality persisted until the idea of renting games just fizzled out.

      Maybe not a complete overhaul, but the original could especially use some QOL updates. It had the same problem as Crash Bandicoot 1 with the depth perception- nothing that couldn't be fixed.
      As for World 3, it was originally going to be a lot more interesting (Dig Dug was going to be there as well as some other Namco characters IIRC). I'd gladly take a definitive edition as it could've been a good game- it just got hit hard with development hell plus it got handed over to Blitz partway through.
