I grew up in Pakistan and growing up, streets, bazars and serene evenings were filled with Kishore Kumar songs because we all loved his voice!! He was a true legend and inspired many of us to sing. We've made superstars out of random wannabes who wear a cap, mouth vulgarities with an accent, talk of the female posterior and alcohol, repeat one or two words to cover 5 whole minutes, and having done all of these, earn millions and millions of likes and views. Amit Kumar's voice bleeds with melody even today. As a part of the Indian audience, I felt ashamed when the camera zoomed in on his eyes filled with pain. Those days, Kishore Da was in his prime and was winning back to back Filmfare awards. After the death of Rafi sahab, Kishore Da alone dominated the whole music industry,till his death in 1987, and none of the male playback singer could compete with Kishore Da. Whenever Kishore Da received Filmfare nominations, he seldom lost. There were only few singers, who succeeded in defeating Kishore Da in Filmfare Awards, and they were Rafi sahab, Mukesh Ji and Yesudas Ji. I grew up in Pakistan and growing up, streets, bazars and serene evenings were filled with Kishore Kumar songs because we all loved his voice!! He was a true legend and inspired many of us to sing. God bless his soul. Amit Ji, you just reignited that nostalgia, ur voice is amazingly similar to him. Just can't stop listening to this song. Wonderfull!!!!

Those days, Kishore Da was in his prime and was winning back to back Filmfare awards. After the death of Rafi sahab, Kishore Da alone dominated the whole music industry,till his death in 1987, and none of the male playback singer could compete with Kishore Da. Whenever Kishore Da received Filmfare nominations, he seldom lost. There were only few singers, who succeeded in defeating Kishore Da in Filmfare Awards, and they were Rafi sahab, Mukesh Ji and Yesudas Ji. Those days, defeating Kishore Da, was considered a big achievement. Amit Kumar succeeded in it and proved his talent. Btw, he defeated the legendary singer Jagjit Singh too.
