"Antique Equipment"= Reliable, Repairable, Serviceable, Lower Cost (No DEF first off) and a hell of a Cool Factor! Keep on rollin' Steve! Hopes that the last moment of video isn't serious.
That's a lot of assumptions in one sentence there. Modern equipment can be just as reliable, repairable and serviceable as antique equipment, you only need the proper tools and mindset. Even lower cost is debatable, as the fuel consumption of antiques is way higher and DEF has become really reliable over here in Europe decades ago already. But if your dad had one bad experience with a modern truck decades back, in the US that seems to be enough for the next generations to endlessly rant and rave against modern trucks. Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate seeing Steve taking care of Orwell and keeping him running, but from an economical ánd environmental standpoint it doesn't make much sense.
@@tjroelsmaI’ve run old and new stuff. New stuff has too many issues that shut you down, from a derate issue (dpf/def) to some goofy electric issue. My current 1991 cabbie is mechanical, gets consistent 5.2 mpg (i run heavy and o/d stuff). Not as powerful and torquee as a newer engine but it’s consistent and doesn’t require near the repair costs and is more profitable than anything I’ve run that’s newer.
Well Steve? The chaining, you and I would've done almost exactly the same. But, I have to admit you are WAY better than I at tarping. My solution was to buy a side kit! LMAO
Steve, I got started watching your videos because you work really hard to have excellent camera angles and shots!! You also work really hard trucking! Most people don’t realize how much hard work is involved in securing a load in all kinds of hot, cold, wet, etc weather! When you finish you are tired, dirty, and covered in sweat. Other drivers walk into their sleepers, turn up the A/C, towel off, grab a cold drink from their fridge, and relax for a minute. Steve climbs into (40 year old) Orwell with no A/C adjusts his vent window and starts shifting gears. Trucking is very hard frustrating work. When you truck with new financed equipment, you have to pay the bank first before you get paid.
You are going five minutes from my house. I know there is a delay in your videos. I live right next to that base. Would love to have bought you a coffee and seen the truck.
That's cool Steve, that you have your grandfather's old Stick Welder and actually using it! Good stuff! Love seeing all the older equipment still being put to use, like the good old days!
@fsctrucking Steve, when you get to the point of putting the decking on the stepdeck, I recommend putting a finish on all 6 sides of each board before installing. As far as the wiring and air lines go, overengineer those. Use 3/8 or 1/2 stainless brake or fuel lines for the air system and run silicone jacketed wire in rigid EMT.
Great video Steve really enjoy all the different camera angles and your commentary and the music. Not a good ending to this video. Hopefully it not as bad as it sounded. Looking forward to your next video stay safe Steve.
Steve it's call Sub Base New London but located in Groton CT. Most likely where you're doing the drop will be on what's called "Upper Base". You won't get anywhere near any of the subs that may be in port so chances are you can run the cams up there. I lived there for around 4 years.
Steve, that is the way I did my days, but I had to put in to take that friday off no later than the week prior. It did get approved due to the timing of when I did submit the request.
As soon as you flipped the switch on that welder, i knew it was a Craftsman! My grandfather had one exactly like it and that's what I learned to stick weld with way back in the early 80's. Great video as always!
I know your editing schedule is all off currently, but I am really looking forward to your delivery to my hometown, Groton, CT. I moved to FL less than two years ago and I am home sick. I hope you get it out eventually. Thanks.
EH Big Man, to much drama 💔 at the end of this one❕️👍 my heart went boom, lt looked like something went boom for you❔️l hope it was the large secret generator, not your fault 😮 😢 😂. Thanks for all your dedication, hard work and laughs. P.S. nice welds ✌🏻🧡 🇨🇦.
Steve you make my knees hurt watching you weld. Get yourself a good set of knee pads or just a flat pad . I never did and I'm paying for now that I'm older ! Working on trailers is always an ass buster crawling all over and under!😮
Steve I will say one thing they keep you loaded and your deffently the loads are paying good money and your the man to haul freight to the N.E. since your from up in that area. Make that $$$$$$ Steve
Hi Steve, got a question. I've seen you use two different types of "chain fasteners", the screw type and the crowbar type. So what's the difference, besides the obvious of how they work, and when do you use which? Greetings from The Netherlands.
I see you didn't show off them dimes you were laying. And correct there is no certification required for most things involving trucking not even a CDL if you are not for hire
Steve just make sure those navy boys dont put you in a trouble spot be careful i served in the navy at san diego california at the navy yard.was on board the uss rentz ffg-46 a perry class fast frigate was decommissioned and sunk for that damn artificial reef crap.
Hey there Mr Steve do you ever have any problem with law enforcement cause you only have one mud flap on Orwell?, And could you put full fenders on Orwell to alleviate that problem?
Ha ha Jessie just said she likes welding the same way u do. And shaking her head no on chaining down the cargo load. Cause she has a hard time. Steve do u run the Green Apu while you are driving if the weather is so hot. It's been hot here lately. We have a worker that shows up first. And his job is to start the truck's that are scheduled to be running. So the drivers are not standing somewhere while the truck is running and they got the AC on full blast to get cool inside. It's been like 100+ degree's lately. What happened at the end?
You may want to get a hotel to store your Camara stuff. Your not filming on the post because they won't let you bring it in not even your phone if it can take pictures. And yes they search truck and trailer
HD how things going with you and Jen? I love the contact in the video and I love watching your Wikipedia. Video to great, but keep up a good workeep on tracking. My friend, the trucker industry was a great harm and covered it. And I know you're getting project done. Just great, so yeah. And the Keep on tracking
Hello Steve, there is a dude on Facebook messenger been trying to sell me shirts all day told me they where $35.00+$15.00 to ship? He said I would be entered into some giveaway or something……I did not send him any money..I did go to your actual merch site and ordered a shirt. Just trying to let you know this is going on...
Can't wait to see that step-deck completed and in use.
for a one truck fleet(so far ) you run a very efficient and hopefully profitable operation
It's a struggle. But plans are expansion. With purely paid off equipment.

You have the best camera placement. Great commentary while you do your thing. Stay with it. Mack truck parts sales 45 years. Thank you.

Dang a darn cliffhanger thanks brother

Antique is sensible, durable, all yours, watchable, desirable, interesting, need more?
Ohhhh, cliffhanger tease.
IKR!
I really enjoy your videos. I pay attention and have learned a lot. You do a great job and keep up the good work.
Steve, as a guy with cancer, protect your arms from the UV from that welding 🙏🏼. Great job!
Agree 100.
Put your safety gears when you welding ;o) Have a nice day.
Having pulled nothing but vans, it's interesting to this drop and hook driver to watch you securing your loads. One might say educational even.
You might want to consider 'step welding' the lower frame web. Heat has a way of warping the frame if you build stress into the overall weld.
Orwell sounds damn good I used to drive a 89 freightliner cabover
I bet Chris would do well with a spray transfer mig
This is great video of you tieing down the load. Just straight forward.
Brother u are doing a great job
Chaining down loads is actually a great art !!! LOL 🙂and hard work of course ?
That's nice museum in groton been there several times they even have a old submarine docked that you can walk thru steve check it out if time permits

Old Groton Connecticut, my favorite town to hang out.
Steve I sure hope you charge $300 per tarp to tarp little loads, Truck is looking good sounding good do your thing be safe
Steve that was a good fucking welding bead especially doing it one handed
I got to give it to you Steve, you work hard,to give us some content, and it's appreciate. Thanks bud !
I knew you looked a little "green" behind the ears😂
Steve, that is the way I did my days, but I had to put in to take that friday off no later than the week prior. It did get approved due to the timing of when I did submit the request.
Wait a minute... you're using knuckle buster binders instead of ratchets ? There are a few old schoolers left thank God.
Of coarse.
used to ride my bicke to the pools in Brockton MA. my dad drove for 50 years local and long haul
I'd like to see some of these 150 pound reefer drivers try your job without passing out.
As soon as you flipped the switch on that welder, i knew it was a Craftsman! My grandfather had one exactly like it and that's what I learned to stick weld with way back in the early 80's. Great video as always!

Yes this is a video posted earlier as we seen this trailer delivered in OHIO. But it is interesting to watch to the end=my opinion.
That made my eyes burn 😂
Good job steve
Truck and loaded trailer looking good Steve.
I used to work in a lumber yard and used the same kind of chain binder.......
EH Big Man, to much drama 💔 at the end of this one❕️👍 my heart went boom, lt looked like something went boom for you❔️l hope it was the large secret generator, not your fault 😮 😢 😂.
Thanks for all your dedication, hard work and laughs.

A Marine don't need knee pads
@@rickylong2768 Steve's from the Air Force, though. 😁
Mathew, my son is the Marine. I was Air Force.
You’re actually a farce
I know Steve it's hard to find the time but my opinion have ORWELLS fuel tanks buffed up he deserves it great videos keep em coming Brother stay safe
Touch that steering wheel up while you're at it lol.
You're both welcome to buy a steering wheel and polish the tanks.
😂😂😂@@fsctrucking
Safe travels and good health.
Great Video as always!!😎
Good job bud..Trl. going to be awesome ..😮Try.
Where your Mechanic buddy??
Go man go!
Ok at the end and we hear “WHAT” 😂
Orwell = "Poetry-in-Motion" - Gotta Love It !! 🤠
Steve / Retired OTR 1977-2009
Hi steve
Steve I will say one thing they keep you loaded and your deffently the loads are paying good money and your the man to haul freight to the N.E. since your from up in that area. Make that $$$$$$ Steve
Just wondering Steve. Wouldn't it have been easier to buy a good used one as opposed to putting all the man hours and money into that one??
my dad had the same welder
Hi Steve, got a question. I've seen you use two different types of "chain fasteners", the screw type and the crowbar type. So what's the difference, besides the obvious of how they work, and when do you use which? Greetings from The Netherlands.
Groton CT, was it the navy base or electric boat? I have family that works at EB, makes you proud knowing what they build.
If I drink milk following eating White Castle Hamburgers you could say I have a nuclear potential payload also.
😂😂😂😂😂😂 the worst kind of 💣 💣 💣 💣
Dayum it's the 4th for you how far in the back hole are we
Hey steve my friend knee pads will save your knees for later in life
Over there in groton? Was just there beast!
Merhaba çok güzel bir video olmuş 😲
I see you didn't show off them dimes you were laying. And correct there is no certification required for most things involving trucking not even a CDL if you are not for hire
See this show on August 21,2024
Good evning brother
That’s what is appealing about your channel andOrwell being as old as he is
Christ Steve you could have got another bit out of that rod , what a waste😂
Correction, delivered a rail to Ohio.
Cool you dropped in groton that sub base is about 25 miles from my house love the sound of that kitty cat in orwell
Wow good.load
Everybody has been to Groton.
Got pics and vids. It’s literally the easiest base to get in.
I noticed the cab started bucking... As you entered on the highway, what was reason for that Steve?
It's a rough road.
Steve, how did that trailer get loaded ?
I was thinking the same thing
Forklifts.
Steve just make sure those navy boys dont put you in a trouble spot be careful i served in the navy at san diego california at the navy yard.was on board the uss rentz ffg-46 a perry class fast frigate was decommissioned and sunk for that damn artificial reef crap.
Hi Steve.
Like video it helps FSC with algorithm ‼️
I can't imagine they wouldn't let you film in a Navy facility....lol
I love your videos. Did I see your truck parked at a service plaza on I-90? I went flying past at about 2am this morning.
Is there any chance you could get caught up with your videos so you are not a month and a half behind?
Will you film and edit for free? If so you're hired...
🍭SWEET🍭🙏🏼💖👍🏻🇺🇸🌞
im not a welder but ive heard stories and i wanna know, does the welder not affect your uncovered skin?
Alot of it might. I'm not welding every day for 30 years.
Hey there Mr Steve do you ever have any problem with law enforcement cause you only have one mud flap on Orwell?, And could you put full fenders on Orwell to alleviate that problem?
Don't need it with a trailer.

Hey Steve, another great video. Do you have to be vetted to deliver to a military base?
What ever happened to that beautiful coal footage
You may want to get a hotel to store your Camara stuff. Your not filming on the post because they won't let you bring it in not even your phone if it can take pictures. And yes they search truck and trailer

Rotten gotten I have been there once.
what rod are you using and heat range?
why do you run the truck at a high idle when standing still
Press 👍 thumb to Like video ❤❤❤
Have you already taken the frame rails to Ohio?
RUclips videos are behind so frame rail has been in Ohio 4-5 weeks already.
Wow, every 90 seconds of video, I get not 1, but 2 Kamala Harris ads that cannot be skipped.
Look at it like this. I take her money and put it into non-woke stuff. 😎

That is a scam FB page. FSC is not in all caps on the scam page (Fsc)
Time to retire orwell.....😂😂
GM old junk. Why not just go buy a half new step deck? More old stuff on the not safe. 😮
Show up with a check that clears and I'll buy whatever you wish.
