      Be amazing if all supplies companies would allow for mix and match spec deals like Milwaukee with their battery powered trimmer packages they always seem to either add a blower or the hedge trimmer but I didn't see an edger trimmer pole saw combo for a decent price.

    An option for your rear Hagglund. Make it's rear frame a receiver to put multiple bodies onto. for parades you could still use the people carrier or have a flat deck to carry out smaller vehicles or a wrecker body with winches. You have the ability to remove & trade the rear assemblies as required. You wouldn't regret going any one direction :)

    When you change your front vee belt put two in. Fit one and tie wrap the other one in such a way you can cut it loose and fit it without removing the small drive shaft. Saves time. Used to do that on stage rally cars where time is of the essence and if you are working outside in the cold and snow, safer too.

    Yes, I was about to comment on that on the first video when you tested it on the sharp gravel pile, steep up and down angles is the one thing you are not supposed with these to do as it kills the center link and drive line.. Power companies use them all the time over here in Scandinavia for winter work and in marshlands with a flatbed on the rear and usually a small hydraulic HIAB crane.
    And at 10:45 the rubber on the front bogie wheel is about to come off too.. I bet Nate will be overly excited to do some work on it and maybe testing it just a bit.

      Yeah, I was going to make the same comment. If you bend it too far, the first thing that happens is the input and output shaft no longer move as the same speed. You're going to feel pulsations and it beats everything up. Only a little bit further and it will bust the U-joints.

Big warning on your set up (which will be an awesome build and set up. Cant wait to see!) But the pitfall of articulated machines in the wild is side slopes and sliding the center point and getting hung up with a tree or similarly so either bring a chainsaw or build in your recover system with a winch on the side pivot point to unstuck yourself from horseshoeing around a tree in the wild. I imagine side hilling in snow would amplify it happening!

That way you can use all your other hitches and things. Maybe swap out the rear military one too to a standard 2 or 2.5 inch as well. I do like the short pipe tie points of the military one, they make it easy to hook on a recovery rope.

    Thanks 4 the gravel race pictures.That bv needs some care, never heard any bv206 had so much squeeking, quirking, clanging sounds, and I have ride a lot of them in the 90:s. Snow and mud, tight woods is their right element though. Many times I looked straight down a waterhole in the moor, hanging in the seatbelt, but when the rear end getting grip it just pushed through and up, and on steep uphill in snow and mud you just wiggle it from side so side like an eel to getting a good grip. We always had all material on the roof, we skid on purpose on gravelroads, but I never experienced an overturn. During 80:s and 90:s it was northern countries northern parts main vehicle. There were som kevlar versions, but they were kept for wars. Once i jumped out of It in snow and I surprised sunk down to my head, reminded me of how great and light this vehicle is, except is has no armor. Late 90:s the swedish army bought some mtlb from eastern germany, for the price of a new mercedes car, but thy were scrapped within 4 years due to high running costs. Then viking/BvS10 and CV90 came with superior protection. There was a special box in the front we used to warm foods.

    I drove a 206 in the army in 1994 and broke the hydraulic damper and the beam between front and rear. I drove over a big snow pile with cargo on the rooftop and it was to top heavy. You really need to be careful about the angle in all directions while climbing over stuff.

    Some more info on this vehicle (as used by the Swedish Army, "BV" being short for "Bandvagn", meaning "tracked vehicle" ):
    BV206 used a Ford gasoline engine. A Mercedes Benz diesel makes it a BV208x.
    The original transmission was the primary automatic, for driving, and a secondary manual transmission that could be in either "high", "low" or "neutral".
    Neutral would be used in normal service, i.e. for driving the generator on a 2081, or for towing if needed.
    It is true that this vehicle has some really remarkable terrain capabilities.

    • @Hamring
      @Hamring 7 дней назад

      Good info, but i think you're off with the numbering point. I served a year with the Norwegian army in the arctic north and these were everywhere. All with Mercedes inline-6 turbodiesels, and they were all designated 206. Also the manual which i still have calls it that. I'm pretty sure it's the same in Sweden and for most other users. I've never heard about a 208x but it might be some specialized variant which might also use a merc diesel. I know some came with a gasoline Ford V6 but i think these are very limited in number from the very earliest days of its life.

    • @btkab
      @btkab 6 дней назад

      @@Hamring I refer to the numbering in the Swedish Army. A 208x means a pure 208, or the many special versions such as 2081 and 2082 used with the RBS90 GBAD system. These were all diesels, whereas the BV206 with variants, such as the "convertible" (anti-tank version) were all gasoline. It seems that BV208 is also known as 206D in some contexts.
      From my service in the Swedish army i recall the very special logistic issues caused by mixing diesel and gasoline engines in similar vehicles. We had spare diesel in jerrycans, meant for the 2081, carried by the supply BV that was a standard 206 (with trailer)!

    Casey these Haglund's work well in Mud. We took our SUS-V's (small unit support vehicle US Army for BV206) to JRTC in Ft Polk La. long time ago from Alaska and used them as we would during the winter except it was all mud. Hummers got stuck, m35's got stuck but the good old BV206 ran around, thru and pulled all the stuck vehicles out of the mud. First time ever skiing I was holding a rope to the back of one of those baby's.

    28:35 The road wheels are held on by an Allen-key bolt inside of the disposable lid. The bold is reused with the washer also found inside. On the stud, there is a wear-ring that should be replaced if worn. Otherwise, dirt and water can enter the bearings.
    The ring is removed by giving it a slight cut with a chisel, just so slightly expanding it's diameter. You could try with an induction heater carefully and just pull the ring off.
    Replacement ring is installed with the small chamfer towards you. It is installed by means of a special tool, or you could make a driver on a lathe.

    To change out/refit the wheel you lost - make some small ramps (say 2" wide, 6" long with a flat top) that fit into the track. Run the inside wheel up said ramp, and the outside one will also raise up, and you can then access it. It is held on by a nut, under that centercap. The centercap is most likely gonna get damaged when you remove it.

    If you put a recovery box on the back, I'd leave the heater for a warm box. Whether it keeps extra food or water, tools, boots and clothes, or blankets for cold customers. Could even run a couple of hoses to a couple of canvas bags in case you run into more than 1 broken-down vehicle on the trail. You can only carry so much in the cab before you start losing seating.

    One of the beautiful ingenious simple truth about a pinion brake system is that it deals with weight and momentum. By not braking at the wheels or drive hubs in this case that weight is not being dealt with directly, thus its momentum is not a huge factor. By applying the brake directly at the transfere case the brake has a vastly reduced weight and momentum to bring under control.
    It's simple; reduce the weight being stopped and the brakes work much more efficiently.

    • @billsimmons7754

      If what you said is correct then why do all 4 wheel drive vehicles not use driveline braking?

    • @DB-yj3qc
      @DB-yj3qc 19 дней назад +1

      @@billsimmons7754
      Part of the reason is a safety in case of driveline failure. No driveshaft no brake. Less concern with some drive systems, as parking brake.

    • @matthewbeasley7765
      @matthewbeasley7765 19 дней назад +2

      That's not how it works though. The driveshaft brake is spinning at a much higher RPM than the wheels. Angular inertia scales through a gearbox at the square of the gear ratio. As an example, a 3:1 gearbox multiples any mass on the high speed side by 9x on the low speed side. That makes the much lighter brake on the high side "feel" as much as a much larger inertia.
      A great example of this are the old wind up cars that used a gearbox and a flywheel. That flywheel direct to the wheel wouldn't do much, but multiplying the speed way up makes it store far more energy.

    • @matthewbeasley7765
      @matthewbeasley7765 19 дней назад +1

      @@billsimmons7754 The biggest problem with a driveline brake is it doesn't work if one wheel has no traction. The wheel without traction will just spin backwards. You see this all the time when you yank a car with the transmission in park - one of the wheels spins backwards as it is drug along. A full locker would be OK as it _should_ lock. A limited slip of some kind would be OK, but still can slide one wheel backwards.

    • @matthewbeasley7765
      @matthewbeasley7765 19 дней назад +1

      @@DB-yj3qc That's only the case for a transmission mounted brake. If the brake is on the axle, then a broken driveline doesn't defeat the brake.

It always started right up, but the first few miles were rough. We live a mile off a state highway, and I was scared ever time we pulled out on cold mornings that it was going to reliably go.
