lmfao well i made the mistake of reading this and now, for the life of me, i can't figure out what the actual lyric is haha
Heck yeah!!!!!
I’m dying 😂 😂 read this before the actual lyric and will never unhear it
Aww man...it does sound like they're saying that. 🤣🤣🤣
this gives me a lot of matrix, blade, and 2000's WWE vibes.
Nailed it. And i'm here for it.

@@medusa6491 Sounds nothing like them.
Sorry for your loss

@@benxgoh Severely underrated
Heh 69
Bro! 😂😂😂😂
Finally we have late 90's - early 2000's nostalgia, we already had 70's and 80's nostalgia
Imagine randomly getting recommended "Dreams in inertia", thinking CO would this super heavy Alice in Chains-esque band, listening to "I am king" and discovering they're a hardcore/metal band, and then skipping ahead to their latest single to discover they've devolved into the musical equivalent of a Tapout t-shirt. That's the journey i went on last night.
lmfao what a rollercoaster. Straight up fucking Tapout t-shirt
The thing to ask yourself: "Did I Tapout?"
I felt that.
I Am King is still my favorite record by them, every song is so heavy and diverse. this shit is terrible and their newest record was pretty stinky too
Some say they sold out, but did they actually..... tap out?
The Scorpion King soundtrack be hittin' different these days.
LOL
lol god damnit! And we talkin' the sequels
BRUUUUUH hahahahaa
Queen Of The Damned is more fitting IMO. Scorpion King would need more Godsmack vibes to it.
Freddy vs Jason anyone?
Powerman 5000 revival
Not even close
😂😂😂
@@Lethe626 actually it is lol
Went running to the comments to say this.
And still this kind of music is bland and boring. LOVED all their old albums though.... (even their code orange kids stuff was great and much better than this) SAD :(
I'm a bit confused by people talking about NIN. This sounds more like Powerman 5000 than anything Trent Reznor has written.
Exactly
Agree
This is a lot less NIN and a lot more Spineshank. Haha
@@zachiswayposi1 Spineshank was the first band I thought of too.
@@BlackacreDoe I’m about 90% sure the next single they put out is gonna have rapping 😂
And here I am still waiting for a new adventures album.
any day now.....
As a nontoxic casual listener, actually a good, catchy hard rock song with a bit of extra spice.
this is a pretty honest analysis. and that's why I think this sucks, I don't like hard rock or anything described as "catchy"
It's just a huge shift from what they have been. Whenever a band mixes it up people will hate. Personally.... as a dude in his late 30s I'm liking the fact when bands "change their sound" nu metal is making a comeback. It's not like.... bring me the horizon when they DRASTICALLY changed their sound..... to pop rock.
So THIS is what it’s like when worlds collide.
Yeah! YOU PUSH IT! Yeah! YOU PUSH IT!
This comment took me out 😂
🤣
Yeah this is what it's liiiike...
Legendary ...
Code Orange heard that RUclips was getting rid of the dislike-bar and wanted to give it one last good whirl
This comment needs more likes lmao😂😂
scream-laughed at this omg
@Cody Truesdale Same haha! They were going for the WWE PPV theme song on this one
When the record company tells you they need a single.
Fuck that
agreed
This is the only song I’ve heard by them. Super super nu metal. It sucks but sounds better than most deathcore and metal core.
@@GrindFreshDaily ? I don’t understand where you are getting Nü Metal from.
@@IX_Efilnikufesin For real, I agree with u. Smdh.
Saw these guys in Hershey opening for Korn and chevelle a couple of years ago and they blew my daughter and I away. Forever fans!
This is one of those kinds of metal songs that I really dig, while still getting behind why other metalheads don't like it at all.
yeah same. I liked Code Orange Kids better, but this is still good, just different.
Everyone knows it slaps. metal you can dance n move to is always good.
people just think its cool to go against the grain because someones not screaming death 100% of the track where you have to google lyrics.
@@hearingvisions7307 You are delusional.
No one loves pretending they hate having a good time like metalheads.
This isn't a metal song
anybody else came here hoping Deathwish era Code Orange Kids are still alive and then saw this... fucking Roadrunner...
I never want to shit on a band for pushing themselves and their creativity, I love everything Code has done up to this point, and I get that they've probably picked up a much larger (and different) fan base with Underneath and touring with Slipknot and shit, but I hope the new album will have some more of their hardcore roots than this single has. It's not bad at all, but it's definitely more commercialized, which in a way is sort of the opposite energy of the tight knit hardcore scene that we love.
This is a nice way of saying that they used to produce some really awesome and unique original hardcore and now make generic nu-metal for idiots. I don't blame them, however. Everyone's gotta put food on that table and this is infinitely preferrable to them just breaking up. It's not for me but I dont hate the band for changing their style to something more predictable/mainstream. I'll probably even still buy the album just to support the band for all the great music they produced from 2009-2017.
@@VastChoirs ya know kids liked rock at one point before old fart elitists told em their intro music sucked.
@@bluBlaq33 That too. Probably a good portion of new fans will discover how awesome old code orange was, so it's okay.
@@VastChoirs nerd. When?
@@VastChoirs yeah for sure, kinda smells like Mountain Dew and Avenged Sevenfold tee's in here. If this is the way they want to go with their music I give them all the respect they deserve, just hope it's because that's their creative vision and not the result of an outside influence or pressure to have a larger audience or something.
Love how C.O. Gatekeeper fans don’t like this sound from the band, but songs like this are reasons why I love this band. There not afraid to switch it up to a more generic almost nu-metal style of song, which I think is a straight banger!
This is the first song I’m hearing since listening to this band last in 2018, I don’t hate it I’m just very confused. Like I left the party to get something from my car and came back in to a completely different crew inside lol.
I don't hate it. I can almost guarantee it'll be the theme for a wrestling or MMA pay per view in the next 6 months
It’s 100% gonna be the theme to whatever the next NXT pay per view is
Or maybe an aew ppv with the people they have done themes for in the past over there now
@@zachiswayposi1 I would believe that, but if it has been Triple H's job before to get those themes and him being out of NXT leader now, I doubt it.
@@spartan7hk would be cool to see them open for Malakai Black again, but I don't think it suits his new gimmick

they look like they're having fun and I really enjoy their journey through different ""vibes"" and aesthetics (from the glitchy, cold, industrial/internet-age underneath to this sweaty, leathery dirt rock thing). Can't fault it tbh, just keep doing whatever u want
With their last album, I thought they succeeded in combining their hardcore roots with modern metal, but this just sounds like everything I’ve heard before by better bands. I’m not trying to hate, because I’ve loved this band for a couple years now. And also they’re from where I live at so I definitely try to support local acts. But unfortunately this just doesn’t do anything for me. If this is off their next album, I hope that it’ll have some better songs.
indeed, such a disapointment
Mood
exactly. and the music video is so distasteful, at least to me.
So, yall don't like to just let loose an have some fun an goof?

**sniff sniff**
...anyone else smell Powerman 5000? I know there's some around here, somewhere.
Well if there's ever a new Blade or Queen of the Damned, this should work good for the soundtrack. Big change for them but hey, 9th grade me would be really stoked on this.
Well, there is a new Blade coming out but it's MCU so I doubt they'd add something this heavy
we getting a new blade sadly. Its prob going to be PG-13 and crap but we could use a modern updated version of Queen Of The Damn I just recently watched it again and it just doesn't hold up at all lol. The music is fantastic but everything else is just a no go.
@@mentaltelepathy24 Hard pass. Hollywood is completely bankrupt of talent and they only make shit. Also why would you want the same rehashed shit but worse?
I MISS THE OLD CODE ORANGE. BEING IN THE HARDCORE SCENE FOR 22 YEARS IT JUST BOTHERS ME. BEING OLDER NOW I DO UNDERSTAND THAT ARTISTS GROW AND MATURE AND ALSO CHANGE THEIR STYLE BY PERSONAL CHOICE, BUT WATCHING THIS VIDEO MAKES SEEING THIS BAND ACTING LIKE ROCK STARS WITH SUNGLASSES ON AND CLICHE ROCK STAR ATTITUDES HAS MADE ME LOSE MY RESPECT FOR CODE ORANGE. IM SURE RIGHT NOW AS THEY LOST ME AS A FAN THEY HAVE GAINED 20 MORE FANS. IF ANYONE SAW THIS BAND PLAY 7 OR 8 YEARS AGO IM SURE CAN RELATE. I DONT WISH BAD FOR YOU CODE ORANGE. I JUST MISS THE BRUTAL 3 PIECE MEMBERS THAT CRUSHED THE UNDERGROUND SCENE. ALL MY BEST THOUGH.
"And now... Snickers and Mattel presents... WWF UNFORGIVEN 😈"
Imagine leaving the jam space and being stoked on writing this song
LMFAO
If this single is Code Orange paying homage to super cheesy late 90s early 2000s mainstream metal, then I am 100% on board with it. It's fun, it's nostalgic and it's unapologetically tacky.
That being said, if this single represents what we can expect from Code Orange in the future, then I'm going to be very sad.
It does have that Powerman 5000 vibe
This would totally work as a Static-X/MM/NIN song, idk about Code Orange though, sounds a little too goofy and simple for them. Still a fun song, watch in 360p for true authentic 20 years nostalgia.
Hellyeahbrothercore
Jaime recently did an interview on the metalsucks podcast. He basically admitted this was a business move. He said that no one is streaming Underneath anymore. So they wrote this song to get kids into their music with the hope that they will check out Underneath. Guess we'll see if it works out.
I don’t really like to toss this word around because it gets overused a lot, but if writing shit music purely for money isn’t the very definition of sellout, I don’t know what is.
@@zachiswayposi1 The fact is a band is a business. You gotta keep up the hype and if you lose the hype these days you’re done. Code Orange is definitely a band that can help change the old guard of the mainstream metal/rock but you can’t do that if you aren’t on Spotify playlists, Sirius xm, or even radio. Kevin working his shitty job is gonna hear this on his local radio station packing boxes in trucks and be like “this song is fucking hard” and check them out later on Spotify.
@@channtastic this still goes against their entire attitude/ethos tho
@@channtastic Yeah nah. You can't have art and "a good business move" at the same time. If they aren't being streamed maybe it's because Underneath just wasn't very good. You can't act like you're this untouchable bastion of " f--- the world we do what we want and we are pure integrity " and turn around and put out a song for the money.
Shame
If this is just a single written for something specific, then I'm okay with it. However, if this is the direction the band are heading towards out of their own initiative, then this is a huuuuuuuge step back.
Code Orange doesn't stick to any specific sound from what I noticed - not even from album to album, but from song to song.
This is what happens when you try to be Converge so hard that you reset your whole band back to the default setting.
Never go full trailer park Metal.
Can we have new Adventures music now?
Remember when Code Orange kids were a hardcore band? Lol what happened
This took away all my excitement for this band.
You know what? I don't like it. BUT I can totally imagine 12 year old me being 100% stoked on this. So if that's you, I'm happy for you and everyone who gets into heavy music thanks to songs like this one. Welcome ❤
What a fuckin’ great comment, man. My first CD was “Load” 🤣
How long ago waa this 12 year old you? Because there was a band called Powerman 5000 that existed way back when
@@gordonchristophertubo3164 12 year old me didn't like PM5k either. I didn't dislike them, but they never released anything that made me wanna go buy a disc.
haha. I was thinking the exact same thing! It's a cookie cutter chord progression, but I woulda thrashed around my bedroom to it. 🤘🏽😂
Great take here. Ive been listening since they were still the Code Orange Kids and this the first single that I dont like but that's ok.
That chorus is amazing
Killer visuals and Reba's solo kicked ass.
Great showing Minnesota guys
ooof, the Forever era is long gone
Song for radio ??? So Sad...
Streamlined, simplified, and made more accessible, it all cuts out what makes them special.
I’d argue the same for Bleeding In The Blur, but they’re allowed to have some accessible singles if they feel like it, their latest songs are going back to their roots
@@Therealfakemaxgoldberg Hope you are right about the recent tracks lol I havent heard the latest songs they dropped but god theyve made some questionable WWE themed Nu metal songs lol
Nothing they do disappoints. Every song is a feel and jam.
I wonder if the guitarist who does all the spinning kicks ever kicked one of his bandmates in the face by accident.
Was this written by the CEO of JNCO jeans or what
Reminds me of 90s radio industrial like Stabbing Westward, Gravity Kills, God Lives Underwater.
Funny, stabbing westward just dropped a new song

Forever was exciting as shit for the scene and nothing has really provoked that feeling from CO since
If it wasn't Code Orange they'd be shittin all over this track.
Yeah this fucking sucks. I bought Winsconsin Death Trip years ago.
I liked Underneath as it was really experimental with the genre, this sounds pretty generic and like it's 2 riffs in 4/4, wtf. The fucking disco beat too. Hopefully it's a stylistic tribute type track from them and not representative of their new album.
all around terrible song. cheesy as fuck
I’m with you. This is cheesy radio rock. Sounds like Drowning Pool or Five Finger Death Punch. This band lost the plot. They’re just chasing dollar signs now and trying to get on bigger tours.
They've devolved into the background band at a birthday party on an episode of batman begins
Can’t believe this same band did a really great split with full of hell.
It's not.. at this point.
I’m Saying look at how great FOH still is and then look at this
I personally don’t mind this new sound and song, but can understand why others wouldn’t like it at all.
I just appreciate the band doing something they wanna do, regardless how you or I may feel about it.
I don't know, I feel like this is probably what they don't want to do but are pressured to do so because of their inroads with professional wrestling, big euro festivals, and their label. I think this band has been marketed as like a "no fucks given" answer to the hardcore scene-going against the grain, being generally transgressive. The funny thing is is they've ended up sounding like every other horrible nu-metal band.
You really think this is what THEY want to do? They almost exclusively preform on WWE now, I’d hardly say this is what THEY wanted to do lmao
@@dizzy_brain I mean, one of the members in the band is a pretty big wrestling fan, so I doubt they’re being forced to play WWE shows.
@@tnarockshard you’re not getting it. They went that route because of money
@@tnarockshard I’ve literally been listening to this band since they were Code Orange kids, that’s not a progression you make for the sake of progressing as a musician, it’s clearly a digression and unnatural. They look like they belong in the matrix for Christ sake. They’ve almost retained none of their old audience either. You can’t really justify it anyway you look at it. Just admit you’re into bad music, it’s okay. We all have guilty pleasures lmao
I hope this is the most mainstream track from the upcoming album
I wasn’t a fan of the song Underneath when it dropped but I loved the album so hopefully the same happens with this song and album cycle
This is corny as fuck to the point of parody. Been with it since this band was code orange kids but holy shit did they really jump the shark with this. Don't know how butt-metal somehow became the endgame
It's only one song, but yeah makes one wonder a bit. They are way too talented to turn into this type of band.
I want some Code Orange

The Thinners joined the herd.
It's nice to see most of the commenters in the first few hours are supportive even though they're disappointed.
I was thinking the same thing
Yeah, I hope the rest of their new album sounds different. They're such a great band, it would be terrible if they stick to that particular bland and boring sound (like this song is...).
That was................really bad. Kinda knew this was gonna happen tho. 'Forever' had no filler tracks but 'Underneath' had a fucking ton of em. Had to omit several tracks from my library off that album. Got excited to see and hear and hear this song/video but by the time we hit the end of it, my wife and I looked at each other and bid farewell to those guys. Tallah fucking slays these clowns now.
Thats portoy from tallah on drums in this vid
@@RAWHEADSPEAR I know. That's why I said what I said. Hopefully this is just a paycheck for him and he doesn't bail on Tallah permanently. Tallah has much more promise in my opinion.
Same here. Me and my GF watched those lives they had from different cities during the pandemic. I would defend these guys so much, but this doesn't have the good balance between melodic and heavy. In this particular track, none of those parts excels.
Good take. I agree. This is hilariously bad.
sounds like Powerman 5000

i don't know why people are suprised. they make ALL TYPES of different styles of music. it was bound they had a few songs like this one. sounds nostalgic as hell!
This sounds like all of that early '00s metal that showed up on horror movie soundtracks or wresting pay-per-view events lol. Sorta kinda Nu-Metal, sorta kinda industrial, sorta kinda Metalcore. Except not really lol.
I don't recall any of those songs using guitar solos like this one did. But yeah otherwise sounding surprisingly derivative for a band that is usually innovative.

Very reminiscent of early 2000's. Powerman 5000 and Rob Zombie come to mind. I dig it
Took me a few listens. But this fucks. I’m here for it.
Very strong Powerman 5000 vibes.
Just heard of them yesterday with them bringing Loathe on tour with them next year. This was my intro to their music and not a fair representation (unless this is a new sound they plan to commit too) to me. Seeing after listening to Underneath, Its an insane and banger of an album. This is still a jam, just very WWE metal. I look forward to seeing them live next year none the less.
It's a one off single where I think they were testing the waters on WWE metal. Most of their new album is already written/recorded and one would presume more like their more innovative and more complicated normal selves. Some of us have been politely and less politely letting them know that we prefer the Underneath sound. Glad you enjoyed that album, I love it too.
Was thinking the same thing.
And powerman 5000 mostly sucked lol
That old school guitar sound and SOLO are sick (also Reba's outfit is bitchin). The new Mudman look (Max version?) was sweet. The whole experience was fucking awesome. If we get a whole album of this... 🔪🔪🔪
Well Underneath is still a great album. Hopefully they don't forget how to write a great album.
Beautiful
This over a Resident Evil trailer would be perfect! Early 2000s vibes is giving me chills
Not awful thanks to the solo. But overall underneath their capability.
lol punny
When I heard Bleeding in the Blur I was hoping they would… not go this route.
I was too hopeful lol
I loved Bleeding in the blur to be honest. But this sounds like every metal band at the moment trying to go mainstream. The guitar solo’s cool tho.
