LYRICS
today i lost reality
a severed head was in its place
today the smoke screen faded away
the desert of the real remained
they all lived by my design
we exist and are confined
into a world that has no why
i think that it might finally be time
i see every little tell
every look and every breath
i feel far. i’m out of tune
out of touch with higher good
so suck it back. postulate.
drink it in. suffocate.
i am the one you love to hate
so if this is it,
then celebrate.
just spread your wings
take shape
today i swerved across two lanes
a rotting corpse was in the way
you pinched my hand but i pulled away
it felt like touching ripe decay
is this all just by design?
surrounded by your cardboard signs
scenery that has no why
i think that it might...
i see every little tell
every look and every breath
i feel far. i’m out of tune
out of touch with higher good
so suck it back. postulate.
drink it in. suffocate.
i am the one you love to hate
so if this is it,
then celebrate.
just spread your wings and
take shape
spread your wings
show us who you are
spread your wings
you’ll go far
show us all
show us who you are
spread your wings

This was my favorite song in high school back in 1999.
this feels more like 1993
@@MK-oz2lf downward spiral was 94 so yea close.
@@paulerxx TDS barely had guitars. More like Broken 1992
you old af
yeah i noticed that too... like take all these riffs and throw em in a blender.
did corgan discover these guys?
As a 90s kid, seeing this music video brings me lots of joy. Code Orange really is bringing something great to this gen of metal.
Like
Abso-freaking-lutely
This is not metal. They haven’t been metal in years. This is pop shit
You must mean 90's baby.
What is the something they are bringing?
3. “Take Shape” (feat. Billy Corgan)
“It was awesome working with Billy on this. He was obviously a big inspiration to us in general, and he almost plays a little bit of a narrator role in the song. ‘Take Shape’ is really about feeling like you’re being pushed through a stage play of your life that you really can’t control, like some Truman Show shit, like you’re just a puppet on strings being controlled by your own subconscious or your goals or whatever.” (c) Jami Morgan
1993-1999 were some of the best years in music for sure
Wish I could hear 90’s Billy in this, his scream used to be awesome
60 YO here, heard this for the first time on 89.5 WSOU college radio. At first I thought maybe Korn or/and NIN, then Billy Corgan voice I recognize, but was also thinking maybe Linkin Park with that guitar sound... well heard all four of them and learned of the band Code Orange today. :) Caught my ear on the first listen. Kick as song!
Lol this sounds absolutely nothing like Korn
Now Im picturing Billy Corgan singing for Linkin Park and i think it might work.
@@c0pyimitati0n who cares cousin?
Hell yeah brother pgh hardcore right there
My introduction to Code Orange was seeing them open for slipknot a couple years ago. They were great and I’ve been listening ever since. Loving this new stuff! Keep it coming pls
Of course Billy Corgan is in this, this sounds like 90s 🧀 radio rock!
Maybe SiriusXM Radio
90s bands didnt “feature” other artists bc its a lame thing to do and this is terrible and sounds more like numetal than 90s rock lol
@@magmagmagmg KoRn is amazing, Coal Chamber, Sevendust, Snot and a few others but there are a lot of Nu Metal bands that didn't age so well or just up and vanished like The Deadlights and Reveille. Nu Metal music is a genre of metal music pioneered by KoRn and Code Orange has opened for KoRn, so in my opinion when I see artists writing music inspired by those they love or those who came before them I think that is a wonderful thing. And Billy Corgan sounds great on this track!
This gives off a Hybrid Theory throwback sensibility
Refreshing, to hear Billy's vocals properly mixed for once.
I'm a big pumpkins fan and this made me chuckle hehe
What a remark! Very true.
If Billy's vocals lasted longer than 20 seconds in total then maybe you'd actually have some weight behind your comment, but instead this is probably just another disgruntled redditor parroting what the other zombies have said. Don't let the diversity of sound from Billy and the Pumpkins get you down my sad friend, Siamese Dream is always a simple push of a button away.
100%
Ouch! Isn’t Billy who did the mixing for pumpkins?! That’s what he used to say in his online diary
Stoked to see these guys at Ozzfest in 2001!
Yes they performed a great set replacing Korn or was it powerman 6000🤔
Almost as good as "Dope" or "Adema".
😂😂😂
Best comment
Ozzfest 2001 was sort of weak in my opinion, I did love watching Marilyn Manson and Black Sabbath's sets though. I saw that tour in Columbus, Ohio and it was my 3rd Ozzfest, and I'm very grateful for that because many rock/metal fans will never have that chance.
I’ve listened to this about 5 times a day since it’s been released. They just don’t ever go quite stale
Max Portnoy is a beast on the drums! Insane that he's the drummer for two of my favorite bands right now Tallah AND Code Orange!
is he actually playing the recording tho? i know on their last album it was morgan. i'd assume he's still playing the recordings.
his use of the crash (?) is so potent, really underscores the heavy parts.
Is he related to Dave Portnoy?
@@korndud I think he's their official drummer now in studio and live
@@paulerxx he's Mike Portnoy's son
I’m obsessed with this song! Saw you open for the deftones with your I am king album - love to see how far you’ve come over the years. Caught you a second time opening for korn and chevelle ❤
Damn, I'm feeling this. Definite 90's vibe
Billy has been a huge fan of KoRn for many years ago, he loved the nu metal movement including Limp Bizkit so seeing him appear on this track isn't really surprising. He also co-wrote KoRns song You'll Never Find Me from their 2019 album.
@@TheBridgesYouBurnI didn't know about Korn wow
Love this band! They got a little of everything! It's a breath of fresh air on my playlist!
been listening to the new album every day since it came out, it has me in a chokehold, and it doesn’t happen that often lately
Windham Rotunda has some damn good taste in music.
Wyatt 6 just bought me here. Just were I needed to be.
@@Lenoxygen apparently the shape the Wyatt Sicks took was a glock LMAO.
i had a friend that used to robotrip every recess and he got off scot free cuz the teachers thought he just had diabetes and needed to go home to balance his blood sugar. this was his favorite song, he showed me it and told me these guys were gonna be remembered in 500 years. youre right scotty, they are. RIP
This whole album is hero tier imo. The variety alone is commendable, even better that it all works so well. Nice to have something new with no skips
Love the colors. Reminds me mid-late nineties.
I used to be so opposed to CODE taking a new direction but this feels so refreshing to me and honestly I’m falling in love with this band all over again. New album definitely has my attention 🔥
why do you fear change?
How is butt rock refreshing?
@@PvtFlowers Many bands that have changed up their sound greatly become widely disliked after that so it's only natural to fear one of your favourite bands change their sound as you've no idea what to expect except for the worst
@AzureFrogs I wouldn't say it's greatly changed just cleaner vocals. Out for blood caught my ear so I dug through their biggest songs and just don't care for songs with non understandable lyrics
@@AzureFrogs If Code is one of your favorite bands, you should expect constant change & experimentation, they’ve been one of my favorites & I think they’re only getting better

GREAT LYRICS, THANKS!
It’s crazy how far they have come.
I remember getting their EP Cycles way back in the day.
And then seeing them play with Iron Lung at a small club in Atlanta years ago.
They have evolved so much. I really like all their stuff but I still play Cycles all the time lol
MY FAVE EP 🔥
Ima tell my kids this is Nickelback
You know you're doing something right when Billy plays along .. ⭐🦋🔥🤘
I'm digging the 90's/00's vibe this album is giving tbh
Very disappointed at the Billy Corgan part. Underutilized
Love this band. Energy is point.
The Smashing Pumpkins nod with the way Jami says “Today” to kick off the song🤌🏽
Mix of the last era of the Dillinger Escape Plan with some raw parts of Nin... Very great song ❤❤❤
Born in the late 80's, grew up as a kid in the 90's. Watching and listening to this music video clip brought a tear of joy reminiscing the good old days. Thank you CO.
Absolute killer song! Love that Jami is doing more clean vocals, he sounds fucking great. But I hope that doesn't mean that we'll be getting less of Reba's voice on these new songs, her singing was part of why Underneath was so insanely good.
They both work so well together!
I really hope they keep tugging my nostalgia with this style
2nd, 3rd 4th & 5th This! Reba is a massive part of what Code Orange is
Lucky for you their recent single is entirely her
“The mighty Reba” 🤘🏽
The journey of this band continues! Incredible to witness 🔥🔥🔥
41 years of age and am now fucking rocking out. Well done. Well fucking done!!!
Man this band is killer, Checked them out at louder than life and they killed it. Im going to continue to listen to these guys

Wearing a obituary tshirt I had that one! 30 years ago. Awesome
I watched these guys talk in a pub with hardlore recently at outbreak fest. Been obsessed since

Code Orange is a fucking incredible band - These new 3 songs have me very excited
I feel like the Roadrunner connection is coming full circle. This sounds great and it’s sure to kill on the radio 🔪🔪🔪
Love the "taking shape" whisper. Great song. Seen Code Orange in Evansville Indiana when they opened for Chevelle. One hell of a show.
Never disappoints! Go Code Orange!
So refreshing to see a metal band constantly evolving and trying new shit. Really excited for this new album
Hellyeah bro I can't wait to buy this album when it comes out!!!!
This isn't new though this is literally just Korn but not even as good. I mean shit look at his mic stand.
@@joeyrogerson83 lol Where the heck do you hear KoRn sounds here?
@@PM-vv3uc are you serious my guy?!
@@joeyrogerson83answer his question. I also don't hear anything even remotely Korn-esque, yes it has a little nu-metal tinge to it but Korn is a very distinct sound even compared to other nu metal. Or did you just see other people mention nu metal and do a quick Google search on nu-metal and saw Korn so that's why your comment mentioned them?
My first introduction to this band was when my son showed me swallowing the rabbit whole. I was born in the early eighties but was a 90s kid that listened to a lot of industrial like Throbbing Gristle, and a lot of nu-metal, so i thought it was a really bad ass song. I thought that Poppy girl was really unique and refreshing as well. They both have changed so drastically that it will be hard to maintain a steady fan base. Now i will say that because I was a 90s kid my grunge side actually likes this, it's just shocking when you first hear it with their earlier stuff in mind.
you scared me off back then with swallow the rabbit whole, you got me back with this one lmao - the eerie vocals in there are a great touch
F yeah! great song, killer clean heavy vocals 🤘
This tune is cool. The main verse riff and vocals over it kind of reminds me of KoRn. It's got a good groove to it. Very talented and special band.
I saw them in concert when they toured with koRn. They were awesome
Hell yeah, Billy Corgan part is awesome! Hope he does more collabs! This could be where he really shines in the future
Code orange!!! Yesss!!!
Bro they can do whatever the fuck they want and it’s always good
Favorite track from the new album so far!
This.... I love this...
This is awesome!!!!!!!
Been following this band since they were Kids. They just keep on leveling up. Really digging the aesthetic for the new record cycle, it's a breath of fresh air...pun intended.
that first 30 seconds where it transitions between 3 different musical styles is genius. hopefully they think about making them into longer versions. just those small 3 second sound clips would make fantastic songs
Here for Billy.. glad I came.. this song is sick
I really enjoy this new Korn song. I’ve been wainting it for 20 years
Awesooooooome
Getting big NIN vibes. And I'm here for it!!!
Love this
I’m 44. Damn that was good.
Amazing 🔥🔥🔥

This shit is a banger & one of the best hooks i've heard from a band in a long time.
Omg im so blessed, best birthday gift ever, what a banger!
Their best album yet.

Heard these guys at a $uicideboy$ concert in Nashville last year and they had a new fan since. This shit is fire
Yesss ❤
That bass tone 🔥 awesome song!!
The bass tone is great, it's a shame it is wasted on this song lol
Never expected this collab but this was great, much better than Out For Blood as a single, Jami's vocals keep improving
You didn't live "Out for blood" on a show for saying stuff like this. The song is a true banger in the pit.
I hope Billy Corgan did not charge Code Orange as much as he’s trying to charge fans to see the Smashing Pumpkins. Cuz damn that was a quick verse!
Nah this shits dumb out for blood made me like them again but this ruined it very quick lmao

Now this is much better. More like what this band should be doing. Keeping it heavy, but adding a new groove.
