Just to clarify, because this guy wasn't very clear: the 41mm Pixel Watch 2 and 3 accessories are compatible with each other, but if you get the Pixel Watch 3 45mm, you need new bands.
It's unfortunate that you need new bands for the larger watch. The screen is noticeably bigger but I don't think it really warranted a different size of watch band. And they could have kept the same size connector and then if you wanted to, get one that had a wider band and covered more of the side of the watch etc. Oh well.
I have the original Pixel watch and I don't have to charge more than once per day and I even use it for sleep tracking. The only days where it needs an extra charge is when I download my music or podcast playlists as downloading over Wi-Fi really does drain the battery quickly. Now granted it *barely* makes it a 24 period, but it really does more often than not. I usually wake with 2-5% battery remaining. Of course you have to tweak some settings and some watch faces are more efficient than others, but it's not hard to get it to last a day. And that's with a hour to hour and a half run or workout and 6 hours of sleep. One thing to keep in mind is Wear OS 5 is coming to both Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 which should improve battery life on those devices. I plan on doing a factory reset of my watch after the upgrade to get the most out of it.
Agreed. PW1 had less than ideal battery life. Battery life could be adjusted to "full day" via a few settings tweaks. Plus PW1 and PW2 received a software update in Nov 2024. Solid watches all around. PW3 is defintely a mature product. If you're into smart watches, PW3 is a great choice.
I used the Pixel Watch 1&2 before. Received the Pixel Watch 3 45mm version yesterday. Love it. I'm impressed how accurate the heart rate tracking is compared with my Peloton heart rate band. When it comes to strrength training, the watch struggles a little bit when it comes to track your heart rate. I love the beautiful new designed watch faces. The morning briefing is nice. But needs an update. Would love to customize it. Would love to see upcoming calendar events, reminders(tasks) on the morning briefing as well. Maybe missed calls etc. Overall the best wear os watch for me. Thanks for a great video. Greetings from Germany 😊.
I bought the 45mm Black watch. It should arrive today or tomorrow. Very glad to hear about battery life because I'm coming from an original Pixel Watch so charging twice per day stinks. Thanks for the review!
I have the PW2 Bluetooth version & I used to charge it twice a day. On my most heavy work day (I have a physical job) I don't do 24 h with it with AOD.
@@PAMD19 I haven't let the watch do 100 to 0% but one day the watch used 60% of the batty in a day and the other day it used 50% over a period of 26h. In my case I know the watch will last a minimum of 36-40h before needing to recharge.
I got my watch as soon as it came out. I've been wearing it for a week, and you'll be lucky to get 1 full day of battery with heavy use. Very disappointed.
Nice review. I got the 45mm in Porcelain and it arrived today. Huge improvement over the first gen Pixel watch. Also getting $140 trade-in from the old watch.
My problem with the pixel watch 3 45mm is that there are barely any good 3rd party bands available! Google's ability to partner with 3rd parties to make watch bands is abysmal to say the least!!!
Great video. Snatched up the 45mm!! I didn't even know about the bigger battery (makes sense though), so thanks for that. I can confirm that the battery last 2 days plus (I don't use the always on display, or tilt to wake though). Never thought I would pay this much for a smart watch, but so far so good, it has been fun discovering all the different features. This is much better than the Charge 6 which is sub par. Glad Google is giving (up to) a $120 credit for a trade in!
The Wear OS 5 on Pixel watch 2 improved battery life significantly. I would even say it's doubled. For the rest of us with older gen watches: If you haven't updated yet, you can force the update in System > System updates and then tapping on the screen. It's worth it. The App tile design is there too... Thanks for the video :)

The last smart watch I owned that I would say was amazing in every way was the Samsung Gear S3, but I'm hoping this Pixel Watch 3 dethrones it in my book.

You shouldn't have to choose between a chest strep and a Pixel Watch. the Pixel Watch should support connecting Chest Straps, just like WearOS 3 did. I'm not sure why Google took that away, but it's ludicrous that we still don't have it two full releases later.

Good information mate , many of us out there looking for a smart watch do not need a super duper fitness app subscription due to our age or health concerns , and this one thing could make the difference between possibly buying the device or looking elsewhere . I`m at retirement age with significant health issues , I do not need an app to run marathons , , I just want a step counter , and maybe the ability to keep a track of my cycling details on the days I feel up to going for a ride . perhaps even keeping a track of heart rate information , just so you can see your general health or lack of it lol . thanks for posting.. Edit , I would be going for the bigger watch due to having old peepers that are no longer 20/20 vision.
My Pixel Watch 3 45mm arrived yesterday. So far, it's pretty decent, but I'm not getting the battery life described here. I charged it to 100% before bed last night and put it back on at midnight. At 6:30pm today, it's down to 29%. Granted, this is my first couple days, so we'll see how it plays out longer term. Nest doorbell capability seems spotty on mine. On Sunday, I could look at the camera feed from notifications on my watch, but for some reason today, I get a notification, but I can't view the camera feed from my watch; it just prompts me to check my phone. Hopefully these issues will work themselves out with updates and bug fixes.
Cut down which apps notify your watch. I also go farther and turn off tilt to wake and AOD... And I got the non LTE on purpose. Pixel Watch 1 - I got 30-38 hrs depending on the day. Pixel Watch 2 - I got 40-58 hrs. Pixel Watch 3 45mm - I got 48 hrs and still had 12% left when I charged it. Haven't done a hyper optimized test yet.
I received my 45mm obsidian PW3 today and I have to say I'm already loving it. I will be traveling in a couple weeks and can't wait to put it through some active tests! Loving it so far!
Just wondering what your experience has been with the watch? Do you have the WiFi or LTE version? How has the step tracking been. I tried out the pixel 2 watch and unfortunately returned it, because if you moved your arm even when sitting it incorrectly added steps.
@mden2490 It's been great for me. I got the wifi version as I just wouldn't need or use the LTE version enough to warrant the additional price tag difference. The PW3 keeps excellent count of steps for me. Accurate metrics for all fitness related stuff and long battery life 👍🏻
I just ordered the Pixel Watch 3 45mm. I've had the original one since it was released and I like it. Unfortunately last night the back just came off of it. Apparently this is a big problem with the original watches. So I decided to upgrade. My son said he will take my old one (I glued the back on). They only offered $35 for a trade-in which isn't worth it for a watch that cost $400.
That was a interesting video but what would you recommend more to someone who don't even own a smartwatch but is thinking about getting one that also has a Samsung phone is it the pixel Watch 3 or Samsung's watch 7 or ultra who also has light sensitivity problems in their lives?
Just got the Pixel watch 3 45mm but it doesn't preview my Nest videos on my watch, it always asks to open phone. How can I set it to preview on this watch?
This is a new feature so you need all the latest versions of your apps. Make sure you're on the latest versions and try again. If it still doesn't work, give it a few days to see if Google pushes you an update, and if that's still not working, contact Google support.
I have the 3 and do not have always on mode. Why would I need it on all the time? I also turn off the motion gestures so it only lights up when I actively trigger it. Saves more battery from draining when I am not looking at the watch I do not get why anyone would have screens on all the time
To look at time, it's a compromise between owning a traditional watch were time can be seen from any distance and exercise. Also for many people it looks good to see scree on, bad for amoled life though.
Plus I wanted to take advantage of the free free text messaging, online access for 2 years with my LTE model. So I can at least get my text messages, maps and music to my watch if my phone is not around.
I pre-ordered the 45mm Obsidian watch which should be arriving anytime now. I'm upgrading from a watch 2 because I feel the upgrades are worth the price. The trade-in value of the watch 2 and Google 1 credit back were great.
Received my new PW 3, 45mm on Saturday. I wanted a bigger screen, longer battery life and got it here with this watch. I am hooked. One feature issue I can't find an answer for is, my watch will not connect to wifi at the same time I am Bluetooth to my phone. Is there something I am missing on set up?
one of the main reasons this watch has better battery life is the cortex m33 coprocessor. Which computes lightweight background tasks to take load of the main cpu. Also a little correction: Only pixel pro devices have UWB
Upgraded on a trade in whim to the 45mm from the PW2. Initially it was hard to tell the difference... But the more I research the more I uncover that there's a lot more to it than PW2
I want this watch so bad. The biggest thing for me is I do like to box and lift with a bicep band (currently use whoop). It's very hard to find a good band for pixel watch for this. Yes amazon has a few and Etsy but if anyone has suggestions I'd love to know!
Nice review. The one thing my watch 3 does not do well is the automatic activity tracking. Mine still takes far too long before I get the prompt to start te recording. And even then, when I want to start recording it would be nice to start it with one tap but it needs two...... Could this be some settings issue?
I expected the Pixel 3 to detect loss of pulse and telephone calling for emergency help but I understand that it is not yet available in the US. Any idea when that will be a reality?
I got the pixel 9pro xl and got 200 credit, after adding the 140 I got for pixel watch 1, I only paid 60 for the 45mm watch 3, not a bad deal, got the watch yesterday very impressed, screen looks huge compared to the pixel watch 1
This is unfortunately true. The Pixel Watch 3, like all Pixel Watches, is not repairable. If something goes wrong under warranty, you will get a replacement, not a fix.
For the calendar, Pixel Watch 1 is a disaster. Initially it could show my upcoming meeting on the work calendar (account via Google Workspace), but then it just started only my personal google account events... So I'd upgrade to fix only that and not to miss my upcoming events never again.
This is a very thorough review and the best I've seen on the watch so far. I'll be getting mine tomorrow. I have just one question: Does the doorbell automatically pop up when someone rings it?
Yes, when someone rings the doorbell, the notification appears on your watch and you can see the live feed from that notification. Thanks for watching!
Very nice review! Just wonder how battery life might be better on WiFi compared to LTE version. I am generally always close to my Pixel 9 Pro XL anyways and also just use my watch to reject or text replies to calls. Is there any other advantages to LTE model like the AI features working better or something else?
My Huawei Gt 2 Pro watch is still lasting between 10 and 14 days, and the built quality is sensational. So I'm sticking with my watch despite ordering the pixel 9 pro
I'm assuming you mean a chest strap? If so, you can't link the Pixel Watch 3 and the chest strap directly, but you can record their data separately and then integrate them within the Google Fit through the Health Connect service built into Android.
I've had my Pixel 9 Pro XL for about a week now and I love it, and it's also time to upgrade from my Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. It's fucked up that Samsung locks some stuff for their Galaxy phones, so I'm pondering if the Pixel Watch 3 is the one for me.
I just ran into the battery drain bug on my Pixel Watch 2 w/ the fitness tracking. I found this is a prevalent issue, and there’s Reddit posts about it. Have you noticed this issue? In the video, you don’t mention it, but it’s definitely an issue w/ the Pixel Watch 2.
I still have the original pixel watch that I got free with the Pixel Fold. I ordered the 3 45mm and it arrives today. I'm looking forward to the increased battery life!
@@carbrewer it feels absolutely huge. And it looks a little out of place. I'm also still getting used to slightly heavier weight. But even with all that, I absolutely love it! I like the extra screen real estate. And the battery life is amazing. And even with the bigger battery, it charges so much faster than the original Pixel watch (which is what I had before. So I don't at all regret going for the 45mm.
@@smileywolf Nods. I am trying to figure out if the over-sized watch for small wrist is worth it for a much better battery, its kinda stupid that the smaller one's battery is not as good. One youtube review I read said he had to charge it twice a day! WHAT?!?!!
@@carbrewer I only had to charge the original pixel watch once a day - with the always on display. But I don't use any of the GPS tracking at all. I don't do those kinds of activities. I can get almost 2 full days with the 3 45mm. On my wrist, the watch face with a case in it takes up the width of my wrist. So it looks big, but not overly so. If the circumference was bigger than the width of my wrist, I'd feel like that was too much. But that's just my opinion.
@@smileywolf ok that isn't too bad, maybe he was wearing on a heavy activity usage. Wish I could share a pic of 45mm (I went to Best Buy to check it out) next to my Sense 2. Its pretty close.
About PW1: "You'd be lucky to 12 hours out of that thing,,," Mine was this time yesterday (6am), it's currently on 50% (the average is about 30% remaining 24hrs later). How are people killing the battery so quickly? I have the screen always & twist to wake on.
I have to wonder if the designers were fans of Red Dwarf as it looks fairly close to the watch Holly would appear on in a few episodes and that goes back to the 1980's. Just a shame i can't set ip up so Holly appears on the screen and says 'whats happening dudes'
My Pixel Watch 2's battery is a piece of steaming 💩 that I'm forced to charge every 16 hours or so. Just unacceptable for the price I paid for it but serves me right for being a mindless consumer.
I have the pixel watch 2 I use always on display and it lasts about 26-28 hours I would just charge it when I got home from work and wouldn't have to worry about it again until the next day
Ordered a 45 mm with LTE. Anxiously awaiting Verizon to start selling them. They found "issues" and won't sell yet. Meanwhile my watch sits at the local store just waiting.
UWB is not available in the Pixel 8 or Pixel 9, only in the Pixel 8 Pro and 9 Pro/XL. So, even if you get the Pixel 9, you still get the normal bluetooth unlock just like me with the Pixel 6a and PW2.
Got the new pixel watch 3 45mm. Even though it's a very good watch, it's such a shame that we cannot change or rearrange the quick setting icons.! And the camera shutter works only with pixel phones.
Have the Pixel watch 1, all day battery no issue at all a unicorn? I'm very covered in Tattoo's it also seems to be the only one that works for HR I still want a pixel ring

I just bought the 45mm and am waiting for it to arrive I can't wait.
I bought a pixel watch 3 bigger version, can't wait to try it out. Waiting for it to get delivered.
Just ordered the 45mm pixel 3 the other day when i realized they'd give me trade credit for my pixel 1. Should be here tomorrow and I'm pretty stoked.
Happy to get a weekend? I want it but my watch gets 1-2 weeks sometimes.
Do you know whether the Pixel 3 also connects to a bike powermeter?
Excellent review. I will totally grab this watch with my Pixel 9 Pro Fold phone next month when I get off of Att. :)
Waiting to find out as well.
What charging stand is that?
I have the 3 and do not have always on mode. Why would I need it on all the time? I also turn off the motion gestures so it only lights up when I actively trigger it. Saves more battery from draining when I am not looking at the watch
I do not get why anyone would have screens on all the time
To look at time, it's a compromise between owning a traditional watch were time can be seen from any distance and exercise. Also for many people it looks good to see scree on, bad for amoled life though.
Do I need Fitbit for the Pixel Watch 3?
can you view the phone camera on the watch?
Is this good for a first time smart watch wearer?
I'm going 45 mm. Been waiting for this, having a bigger wrist.
6:22 are you sure this is correct? The pixel 7 pro has UWB. Why wouldn't this feature work on it?
Does it have the HRV(heart rate variability) and Resting Heart Rate metrics available for all users, or it it locked behind the fitbit premium?
1 question:
Can you get Microsoft Outlook calendar and email notifications?
(He mentioned
“No calendar notifications”)
Received my new PW 3, 45mm on Saturday. I wanted a bigger screen, longer battery life and got it here with this watch. I am hooked.
One feature issue I can't find an answer for is, my watch will not connect to wifi at the same time I am Bluetooth to my phone. Is there something I am missing on set up?
Does it have a watch face that displays stock price?
smart wake feature present?
Can you track sets for like weight lifting?
one of the main reasons this watch has better battery life is the cortex m33 coprocessor. Which computes lightweight background tasks to take load of the main cpu.
Also a little correction: Only pixel pro devices have UWB
Upgraded on a trade in whim to the 45mm from the PW2. Initially it was hard to tell the difference... But the more I research the more I uncover that there's a lot more to it than PW2
the compatibility with a motorolla razr should be good right?
I want this watch so bad. The biggest thing for me is I do like to box and lift with a bicep band (currently use whoop). It's very hard to find a good band for pixel watch for this. Yes amazon has a few and Etsy but if anyone has suggestions I'd love to know!
I've already ordered my Pixel Watch 3 in Haze in 45 mm and it'll replace my Galaxy Watch 4 classic. I'm very exited. 🤩
Thanks for the revien. My watch will arrive tomorrow,
How much battery did watch discharge from Saturday night till Sunday morning you woke up , 3 to 5% or more
Very curious about the health tracking on Pixel Watch 3 vs the apple watch , especially the AW10 just launched
Nice review. The one thing my watch 3 does not do well is the automatic activity tracking. Mine still takes far too long before I get the prompt to start te recording. And even then, when I want to start recording it would be nice to start it with one tap but it needs two...... Could this be some settings issue?
I have the original pixel watch and just ordered the 45mm Pixel Watch 3 in black. What's up with wireless charging for the 3?
I'm still using a Galaxy watch with Tizen OS from 2018. Really thinking about buying the Pixel Watch 3 now
The Fitbit Sense 2 battery last me like 5-6 days...
Can this display turn off the display until you turn your wrist?
How do you get health data from the pixel watch
Is there an Energy Score to go along with the sleep score? How would you say it fares against the Galaxy Watch Ultra? Feature-wise that is.
Bro redeemed the pixel watch 4 me. Earned another viewer 🎉
Some cool features for sure!
I have heard that this watch doesn't have battery replacement facility is that true?
This is unfortunately true. The Pixel Watch 3, like all Pixel Watches, is not repairable. If something goes wrong under warranty, you will get a replacement, not a fix.
love the watch
For the calendar, Pixel Watch 1 is a disaster. Initially it could show my upcoming meeting on the work calendar (account via Google Workspace), but then it just started only my personal google account events... So I'd upgrade to fix only that and not to miss my upcoming events never again.
I'm a small boy, the pixel 2 is the perfect size for me! The main reason I got it was because all other smart watches look cornily large
Great Video! Thanks
It's possible connect a cardio band?
I'm assuming you mean a chest strap? If so, you can't link the Pixel Watch 3 and the chest strap directly, but you can record their data separately and then integrate them within the Google Fit through the Health Connect service built into Android.
I've had my Pixel 9 Pro XL for about a week now and I love it, and it's also time to upgrade from my Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.
It's fucked up that Samsung locks some stuff for their Galaxy phones, so I'm pondering if the Pixel Watch 3 is the one for me.
I absolutely love my new 45mm, this is what the Pixel watch should have been from day 1.
When is Wear OS 5 coming to v1 and v2 Pixel Watches? Anyone have any info on it?
I just ran into the battery drain bug on my Pixel Watch 2 w/ the fitness tracking. I found this is a prevalent issue, and there’s Reddit posts about it. Have you noticed this issue? In the video, you don’t mention it, but it’s definitely an issue w/ the Pixel Watch 2.
I still have the original pixel watch that I got free with the Pixel Fold. I ordered the 3 45mm and it arrives today. I'm looking forward to the increased battery life!
being a woman, I am considering 45 mm too, but I have small wrist. Any thoughts on that, how is it looking for you?
Charging a watch twice a day is ludicrous, let’s not pretend otherwise.
I had the Pixel watch 1 and I did not charge it twice a day. Usually would put it on the charger when I got home from work+gym
I have the Pixel Watch 2 and it lasts 24 hours for me.
My Pixel Watch 2's battery is a piece of steaming 💩 that I'm forced to charge every 16 hours or so. Just unacceptable for the price I paid for it but serves me right for being a mindless consumer.
You never needed to charge any Pixel Watch twice a day. This dude just did it for peace of mind
I have the pixel watch 2 I use always on display and it lasts about 26-28 hours I would just charge it when I got home from work and wouldn't have to worry about it again until the next day
Just received my 45 mm Pixel Watch 3 and haven't even opened the box yet. Do you have a video on cases and screen protectors for this watch?
Ordered a 45 mm with LTE. Anxiously awaiting Verizon to start selling them. They found "issues" and won't sell yet. Meanwhile my watch sits at the local store just waiting.
My pixel watch 3 45mm will arrive today.
My Pixel watch 2 usually has around 30-50% battery life at the end of the day. So I would guess the 3 would let me go two full days on a charge.
My pixel watch bands didn’t fit my pixel watch 3 45 🙁
UWB is not available in the Pixel 8 or Pixel 9, only in the Pixel 8 Pro and 9 Pro/XL. So, even if you get the Pixel 9, you still get the normal bluetooth unlock just like me with the Pixel 6a and PW2.
4:22 very optimistic scenario if you don't think about battery degradation...
Got the new pixel watch 3 45mm.
Even though it's a very good watch, it's such a shame that we cannot change or rearrange the quick setting icons.! And the camera shutter works only with pixel phones.
Imagine this being your first smart watch. That be me lol it's a wild trip so cool
Have the Pixel watch 1, all day battery no issue at all a unicorn? I'm very covered in Tattoo's it also seems to be the only one that works for HR I still want a pixel ring
