Was using G915 TKL on my PC and LOVED it. Too bad it does not support PS5 (also, micro usb is not acceptable in 2024).
Am using Redragon K621 TKL but it's kinda meh.. Amazing customer support, though.

How is it irreparable, previously they had slightly worse repair ability compared to other watches like Apple watches or Samsung watches but they were repairable, the eco packaging can be seen in many products, not many things to break in the watch, I would assume the battery would be the most likely problem but other things will probably not be outdated since there is nothing really to do more on watches.

My biggest annoyance with the pixel watch 1 is the response time, reliability, and general processing speed. For the 1, when I would go to stop a run, it would take several attempts at actually ending it. I also don't have any concrete proof for the GPS being off, but it was giving vastly different results day to day.
As far as I can tell, having the watch 3 for a day and a half, both of my runs stopped on the first tap, which honestly is enough for me to send watch 1 back on a trade in.
Battery life seems good so far, but at this point I'm resigned to this life of just trading in your old watch every few years rather than trying to repair it or something, which realistically most people won't.

as someone who owned both the pixel watch 1 AND 2 and just upgraded to the 3 (mainly for the bigger 45mm size), this is definitely a decent upgrade from the pw2 and a HUGE upgrade from the first pixel watch. first watch was slow, very dim screen, and abysmal battery life. pw2 was much smoother with good battery to start, but it quickly got worse after some software updates. just got my pw3 yesterday and i'm LOVING the bigger size, so much so that the pw2 feels so tiny now and idk how i even used that size for two years. plus the auto-bedtime mode is a game changer, as having to manually activate the bedtime mode every single time you went to bed got so annoying i just gave up on sleep tracking altogether. so for me personally, def worth the upgrade.

50m water resistance doesn't mean you can dive 50m down with it, however counterintuitive it is. That rating is just good enough for occasional splashes or a shower. I'd think twice before bringing something that's rated under 100m in a pool, and if you swim regularly, I can't think of any smartwatches that can handle that apart from the Watch ultra or some Garmin stuff. If you're interested in diving or swimming, take a look at some PADI certified watches, just please don't dive with a smartwatch and get bamboozled when it dies and you thought it can handle it

My Pixel 2 doesn't last 24 hours with the always on display, I had to turn it off, and it takes FOREVER to charge. I used to be able to do the exact thing that James is suggesting here, charge it while showering, but now it takes a good 45 minutes to an hour to go from 20% to 100%.
Also I work in construction, so the pin connections on the watch get really dirty and it seems like no matter how many times I try and clean them they still have a hard time making a good connection. It makes me REALLY miss the qi charging Pixel 1. If I hadn't wanted the ECG function of the Watch 2 I probably would have stuck with it. I'm a big fan of those clip-in wrist bands. I like them better than the old style with the flimsy metal staple or whatever. Ratcheting would be best, but a bit harder to put on, so until someone figures out a way to do ratcheting wrist band, these clip style are still the best(imho). Only problem is that there's a chance you could break the band off the face since you do need to tug a little. Still, it's not that much more than the old style, too, so it's not like it's a new flaw. Just more likely to happen on these than the old way to securing and taking off a watch.

I went to eBay and bought a new closed box Pixel Watch 2 for $150 (the wifi one). Happy with it, glad the new one isn't that much better. I don't care for brightness considering I keep it low for battery anyway.

I had the Pixel Watch 2 and upgraded to the 45mm Watch 3 on release (trade-in value: $220.00). Night and day, the bigger watch is so much better. Now when I say "better" I mean "looks better", as a tall guy, the smaller Watch 2 looked too small on my wrist, the Watch 3 now looks like a "proper" watch. I also have it in a Spigen Rugged Armor Case, which makes the watch look more like a sports watch adding the protection I need.
Additional, would never use my watch as a phone, it's a watch, not a phone 😏

I upgraded from PW1 to PW3 mostly for battery life because my PW1 battery life has degraded pretty badly and it was always pretty bad. I will see how this performs when its on LTE only when I am working an all. Everything else is just bonus and so far I am really loving the bigger display and the slightly smaller bezels and brighter display.

They didn't use this at all before reviewing... the watch lasts more than a day. A bit of a lazy review based of off specs. Average usage gives you about 2 days with AOD on the 45mm

I was so close to getting a Samsung watch 7, bc I hate the charging pins on the pixel watches, but seeing Samsung lock more features behind their ecosystem turned me off and kept me on the pixel train. I just don't understand how Samsung and Apple can put wireless charging into their devices and have all the same sensors and health information but Google can't....

It's wild how we have the technology to make things scratch resistant -- a coat or two of polyurethane, or whatever blu ray disks use -- and we just, don't put them on plastic gadgets, because products should wear out and be replaced so companies can make more money.

It's honestly for the price of repairs on most watches, it's just not feasible from a financial standpoint. Doesn't really matter how you feel environmentally. Go look at the price of Apple watch repairs and see if it's really even worth it.

Tiny correction to the water resistance ratings. For watches, this is extremely misleading. 50m water resistance means it can withstand rain, or a shower, but swimming is already not recommended. 100m water resistance is for swimming and light snorkling, 200m WR is for shallow diving. So this watch being 50m / 5ATM, is NOT suited for swimming and diving.

If you're that concerned about it going into landfill and I certainly understand that then give the watch away. Just give it to someone on OfferUp or someone in your family but don't make it seem like it's either on your wrist or it winds up in the landfill cuz that's just plain silly

It'd be nice to see some videos on Garmin watches even if it's just the similarly priced ones, like vivoactive, lily, instinct, and maybe at most the venu series. Fenix is likely too expensive to be compared to the Pixel, Apple, and Galaxy watches.

I upgrade my watch when the battery dies. Most styles, I go by style for the watch as to who made it. I'm currently running a citizen with wear os. I was running fossil with wear but their newer version is running a proprietary os, better battery life but I can't customize the watch face. I have a watch face that I like and if they are not going to let me customize the watch face then I don't want it. Taking my watch off at night to charge is fine as I stopped wearing my watch to bed back in the 1990s. It hurts it pokes you.
anyway. if they would just make it easier to replace the battery, I would probably only upgrade if the performance sucks.
