Thanks, It's a 1999 car, the engine is from the 80's,and it has roller followers on the cam lifters wich is pretty rare for the era, even today. Todays cars have hydraulic lifters wich are less accurate than flat tappets or even less than this system. hydraulic lifters do not keep a constant gap between the cam and the lifter. There is no hydraulic lifters on sport bikes for example, there would be too much much powerloss via the lack of consistency in the adjustment. The lifter would be too heavy also. You can gain or loss many horses power on a bad valve adjustment. Engines rev lower than before and are gutless nowadays It's a different approach ,that's why you have those set ups

Hello do you use normal water for the cooling in the end? I do this but I see many people say this is not good and I understand the reason. But I believe engines are tougher than the people say. In Africa they use cooling water from the river due to necessity and still their engines run for million kilometres.
Hello, Yes ,water, just to start the engine and clean the block, with dish soap and different flushes. We used coolant once all was verified and ok to use. In Africa, there is very limited risks of freezing the water in the block, and the water has different minerals than in other regions : they can have limited amount of certain minerals, wich can reduce corrosion, compared to elsewhere, here where i live, you have a lot of calcium in my region. In any case, you need to use coolant, wich has anticorrosion, lubricating properties for the water pump seals, and reduced boiling point to prevent overheating. water is good at cooling, allows more heat exchange in a given time, but cause deterioration by corrosion on engines, cavitation around cylinder liners and things like that. Yes,engines are tougher than thoughts, and they are generally given more attention in countries were vehicles have more value ,or a second life, like Africa, even if it's less and less the case and peoples can get newer ,or equivalent to elsewhere. I live in France and i have a 1999 car lol
Well done , the water jacket full of coffee, ill stick to tea ha ha :-D That's a good car, i bet it run perfect :-D I did hear some noise from the starter motor, but it works :-D Will the head bolts need a re-torque later on? You and your brother work really well :-D
Thanks : ) I'm more into mllk/cacao myself haha It's running smoother, more torque less noise : ) The starter is trying to escape yes he is retiring lol Apparently the bolts don't need an other re-torque,the shop manual and the gasket manufacturer doesn't even agree on the tightening method haha We work ok,thanks : ) we do a bunch of stuff together : )
@@michaelovitch I'm looked at buying a Clio with a blown head gasket but i could end up with a money pit as i don't know if the head has been warped, needs a rebuild etc.
@@jaggass I doubt that you need a rebuild with so little mileage. The necessity is to know why it does need a head gasket. overheating by lack of coolant? by clogged radiator ? by ruptured hose ? by cracked block or head ? Then you will can see f you have more money to invest than a head gasket and head bolts.
Fantastic work!!
Thanks !

Merci

The best of the best, the French touch.

A modern car engine and it still has manual valve adjusters? Wow...
(Your work is great as always, but I guess you know that already 🙂)

Hard to stop drinking it ha ha 😀

Looks like it got away without warping the cyl head. That coolant looked like gone off Custard.
The head is fine, there is not even 5/100 of mm of warp on its length or width.
