- Police Scotland have said they would not be taking action over Harry Potter author JK Rowling’s social media posts about transgender issues.
The writer, who has become an outspoken critic of the Scottish Government’s stance on trans rights, declared “freedom of speech and belief are at an end in Scotland if the accurate description of biological sex is deemed criminal” on X, formerly Twitter.
The Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act - which came into force on Monday - has been met with objections from freedom-of-speech campaigners, including X owner Elon Musk and Scottish journalist and broadcaster Andrew Neil.

I currently can't join a gym. I am an SA survivor and I've been told by all the gyms I've contacted that they are allowing self identifying trans women into women's locker rooms. You don't even have to present as female - just self identify. So, I'm expected to share a locker room with men.

Arrived in Scotland as an immigrant 69 years ago and never experienced any hate at all.
At our local bus station however, I called my 12 year old grandaughter back out of the ladies when seeing her being followed in by a bloke in a dress. Yes, you may call me names for doing that but it's preferable to seeing her very distressed by this unwarranted closeness of a strange man.

I have witnessed this, as an American, happen to my country and Britain held that glimmer of hope that all is not lost. Sadly, if the tide is not turned, it will wash upon your shores and swallow you whole.

The Police are NOT required to enforce "laws" that are not within the remit of Common Law.
A confrontation between J K Rowling and the despicable, grossly offensive racist Yousaf could prove to be the watershed. Feminine grace is the bedrock upon which all civilised values rest. Women united in a common cause are the most formidable social force there is - remember the Sarah Everard vigil on Clapham Common.
Now this could be the turning point for which so many have been hoping in all this time.

Why do we seem to think that we are entitled to happiness and protection from everything that we consider even slightly offensive. Britain is well known for being a relatively polite and friendly country, which suggests that we have no need for such draconian measures.
Don't feel sorry for any police in the UK atm...

Thousands of Scottish Ladies need to turn up outside the SCottish parliament one Saturday and declare a Real Women's Day with suitable arrestable chants to keep the police busy.
One angle they like to push is the "it doesn't take much to change your language and be more compassionate" expecting everyone to say a man with intact wedding tackle is a woman and calling someone having a baby a pregnant person instead of mother and agreeing to use whatever preposterous pronoun they can invent. I don't see why I have to play their game and why I am somehow responsible for their happiness, they clearly don't care about mine.
Is Russia our enemy? Even if the answer is yes, Im more concerned with our domestic enemies like the imbeciles introducing laws like this.
