Didn’t enjoy season 1 that much bar a few things but this trailer looks far far better than what I was expecting, albeit I missed the first trailer. Excited now for this to start up again
I honestly think they are sticking to an element from the books that the Elven rings don't corrupt from the get go. Not until the one ring is created, because Sauron wasn't part of their literally. creation/. Now the t=rings of men and dwarves were directly touched by Sauron and thus corruption was slow but from the beginning. So I think Galadriel at this point is correct. While in the largest frame Elrond is correct it just doesn't quite apply yet.
I know the first season got a lot of hate but I thought as a whole it was FINE. I enjoyed watching it all the way through. „Now Celebrimbor was not corrupted in heart or faith, but had accepted Sauron as what he posed to be; and when at length he discovered the existence of the One Ring he revolted against Sauron, and went to Lórinand to take counsel once more with Galadriel. The Blue Wizards are the two other Istari sent to Middle-earth alongside Saruman, Gandalf, and Radagast. Unlike those three, all of whom arrive in Middle-earth during the Third Age, Tolkien wrote that the Blue Wizards showed up in Middle-earth in the Second Age. That detail opens the door for The Stranger to be one of the two Blue Wizards. Notably, Tolkien had little to say about these wizards, allowing their roles to be expanded without contradicting canon.

Tom Bombadil and the Ent-wives are not random picks for a Second Age show. It makes sense to include them. About the Barrow-wights we have to wait and see.
@@anni.68 Yes they are. None of them accomplished anything important in relation to Sauron or the Rings. Kinda like the Harfoots in fact. But you gotta have them in to bait people into watching the show I guess.
@@Angrenost02 Season 1 was obviously an introduction to the main characters and events of the Second Age. So far we have only seen 20% of the show. Compared to the movies we have only just arrived in the Mines of Moria. So, of course they did not "accomplish anything important" so far. The Harfoots provided the background story for Nori and the Stranger and these 2 will get the more important the more we approach the Battle of the Last Alliance. And Tom Bombadil will help the Stranger to accept his mission and to get rid of his doubts. The Entwives are an important part of the Second Age. We do not know yet what part they will play in the story and I do not care at all if they are "important" or "accomplish something". Who cares? They are part of the story, that's all that matters.
@@anni.68 Yet none of this story is Middle-Earth actual story. None of this is the actual Second Age. "I do not care at all if they are important or accomplish something." Yeah I imagine you don't. Key jangling of this sort is enough for you apparently. I suppose the Balrog cameo in the first season made you very happy. "Who cares?" I do. A lot of people do. People care about good and purposeful writing. People care about having the actual story of Middle-Earth adapted into a show about Tolkien's world, not this boring fanfiction.
@@Angrenost02 What "actual story" if I may ask? Are you talking about "The Fall of Numenor", because if you do you would know that there is no "actual story". Just a timeline, a few essays and summaries + the story of Aldarion and Erendis which does not come into this tale. Not to mention that the big events of the Second Age are yet to come. I find it strange that a Tolkien fan - of all people - clings to a mere framework and does not want to see more about Entwives Tom Bombadil or the ancestors of the Hobbits, just because Tolkien did not have the time to write about them. Do you love Middle-earth or do you not? I suppose you do. But only on your terms, right? Well, do not confuse your head canon with Tolkien's writings. "The only important thing the Entwives did in the Second Age was to lose their gardens (or even their lives) to Sauron's destruction." Who cares if what they did was "important" or not. Is your life "important" for the history of the world? And how do you know that they did not do anything important if Tolkien did not write about them? "Bombadil should be roaming the world without a care"? Says who? Tolkien? No, he didn't. He did not write anything about Second Age Tom Bombadil. So, I suppose he was doing nothing for 3500 years, right? Just like Cirdan and Galadriel for the greatest parts of their lives and the Blue Wizards and the Avari Elves, and Aragorn, too, did nothing in Rhun and Harad, because Tolkien did not write about it. But once upon a time (my crest has long since fallen) I had a mind to make a body of more or less connected legend, ranging from the large and cosmogonic, to the level of romantic fairy-story (....) I would draw some of the great tales in fullness, and leave many only placed in the scheme, and sketched. The cycles should be linked to a majestic whole, and yet leave scope for other minds and hands, wielding paint and music and drama." (J.R.R. The Tolkien Estate will insist that the main shape of the Second Age is not altered...All this, the course of history, must remain the same. But you can add new characters and ask a lot of questions, like: What has Sauron done in the meantime? Where was he after Morgoth was defeated? Theoretically, Amazon can answer these questions by inventing the answers, since Tolkien did not describe it. But it must not contradict anything which Tolkien did say. That’s what Amazon has to watch out for. It must be canonical, it is impossible to change the boundaries which Tolkien has created, it is necessary to remain “tolkienian”...the Tolkien Estate keeps a very careful eye on everything and is quite capable of saying no. Tolkien would've hated Jacksons movies so i dunno what everyone is whining about ROP for, Jackson took out basically everything Tolkien loved the most about his story, all the songs, the long explanations about nature and trees etc
Seems that they have began to move closer to major events of the 2nd age, rather than invent stuff like they did with season 1. As a long time fan of the works of Tolkien it pleases me see that Amazon is finally moving in a direction where they take inspiration from the events of the 2nd age, rather than invent them entirely. I really hope that this isn't a fluke. I was so excited for season 1 and ended up so disappointed by the show. I see a lot of people saying they enjoyed the first season but I felt really let down, so it would be interesting to hear what about it people actually liked. I feel like each episode created new plot holes in each of the sub plots and so many character decisions just made no sense to me. I am a fan of the books and know what the show could have been if it remained faithful which upsets me, but I realized pretty quickly they were going their own direction with the show and stopped comparing them and took the show as its own creation, even still I had far more parts of it I disliked than parts I enjoyed. Even though I thought the first season was pretty bad I am still thankful for it. I likewise didn't think the Star Wars sequel movies were very good but they reignited the passion for Star Wars and would lead to the creation of some of my favorite Star Wars content like Mandalorian, Andor, Rogue One, and Bad Batch. Rings Of Power has already shown to have done that with projects like the Rohan animated movie and the Hunt for Gollum movie being announced. For that I really appreciate the show despite its flaws for really creating a desire for good lord of the rings content again.
celebrimbor falling for saurons trick after he knows what sauron did getting them to make the elven ones is not great. This is the issue they have doing what did in season one and making him already come and tempt him once. It makes him seem like complete idiot. Makes no sense. But least glad they doing what happened in book. But they have kinda written them selves into a corner after season one.
A change in something does not make it not great. It makes it different. You're silly. Stop expecting stories told in new mediums to be books. They are not books. They were never meant to be book. Adaptations are meant to adapt. Characters are meant to change.
He states, as the text says, he is an emissary of the Valar. Sauron appearing as a higher being is exactly why he is the deceiver, showing the people exactly what they want to see. Similar to Halbrand, he was created as a low man to lure Galadriel with a false sense of superiority.
Before he was only posing as a man, this time around he's pretending to be an emissary of the Valar, a Maia of great knowledge. Which isn't entirely untrue.
Did you not read his comment though? He is not saying he dislikes the change simply because it is a change, he specifically mentions the plot hole and confusion the change created by having Celebrimbor trust someone like that after knowing Sauron’s involvement in the creation of the rings, and if he doesn’t know then it creates a similar plot hole if Galadriel doesn’t tell anyone. I understand disliking the opinions that are just change=bad, but he gave legitimate criticism about why it didn’t make sense and that opinion should be respected. Just like it’s unfair to say all change is automatically bad, it’s also unfair to say you need to agree with all changes and can’t criticize them just because changes are going to happen.
I didn't mind the first season except for that one interrogation scene which immediately transitions into a genocidal threat (which is beyond f*cking stupid). Until they say Gandalf's name (which i still don't think they legally can) it ain't nothin but piss-poor fanfiction.
The barn sceen is awesome! A wonderful reference to Tolkien's "trembling moment". Very well done indeed! I hope the Stranger is indeed Gandalf, one of my favourite Maiar.

Just a minor correction (at 4:30) Sauron goes to Celebrimbor not Celeborn. Celeborn is Galadriel's husband. And these elven names are pronnounced with a [k], so it's [Keleborn/Kelebrimbor]. :)

Tolkien said Gandalf already knew Tom Bombadil, this might be where he met him.
I'm pretty sure we are going to see Celebrimbor be captured by Sauron to tell him the location of the elven rings tortured him then kill him and tie his body to a pole showcasing him as a banner
Season 2 looks great!
I’ve never been a HUGE LOTR fan, I enjoyed all their films and watched them all tho. Seems people that hate on this is because the show doesn’t stick to their lore as I’m understanding. I get it but for me I’m just enjoying the show for what it is.
Buts it’s not LOTR why make a show that isn’t about its original universe
@@dannielcruz460 And even then, characters are completely unlikeable (god, specially Galadriel), and act in ways that makes no sense not just with the Lore. Forget the Lore. Just think how much the show makes a huge effort of *telling* you the harfoots is a heartfelt community of hobbits and then it shows them how they have no problem abandoning people to death because a freaking sprained ankle. The show is filled up with moments like that.

I went into season 1 with the same mindset. The thing is who cares about the lore. If u look at season 1 as it’s own interpretation and an open mind and judge it based on the rules it makes for itself in the show…. It’s a pretty bad show. It’s laughable how bad season 1 was. Nothing to do with the lore breaking because if the show is good and the characters are interesting, minor changes to the lore is not that big of a deal. Unfortunately, the story is boring and makes no sense half the time. The characters contradict themselves and each other many times. It wasn’t a good season 1
But I will go into season 2 with the same mentality I did in season 1. I hope it is improved

That was Tom bombadil
Didn’t enjoy season 1 that much bar a few things but this trailer looks far far better than what I was expecting, albeit I missed the first trailer. Excited now for this to start up again
I am so excited about S2!!!!
the 9 rings of men were in the movies too
Only thing that would make me watch Season 2… would be a reboot, rewriting and recasting of the series.
The One was created BEFORE the Elven rings of three.
….
The one was created after the 3
I really liked season 1
I know the first season got a lot of hate but I thought as a whole it was FINE. I enjoyed watching it all the way through. My hope is that they took the boatload of criticism they got from that first season and built something better in the second to prove the haters wrong. I wasn't a hater... but if the second season was better than the first I of course would be excited to see it 😃
You are so much better than us haters. Good job.
The three Elven rings were not corrupted by Sauron as far as I know.
„Now Celebrimbor was not corrupted in heart or faith, but had accepted Sauron as what he posed to be; and when at length he discovered the existence of the One Ring he revolted against Sauron, and went to Lórinand to take counsel once more with Galadriel. They should have destroyed all the Rings of Power at this time, "but they failed to find the strength." (J.R.R. Tolkien, Unfinished Tales, The History of Galadriel and Celeborn, page 256)

@@isaiahwynn-b8h can you show confirmation of that with sources?
@@vegvisir9276 what you mean show confirmation its cannon the only wizard who came into the second age was a blue wizard and the only wizard who went to Rhun was only a blue wizard Gandalf came around in the third age and Gandalf has no known connection to Rhûn he insisted he would never go to the east of Middle-earth. now for Gandalf being the stranger is unlikely as there’s no canonical evidence to support Gandalf showing up in Middle-earth during the Second Age In fact, it’s explicitly said in Tolkien’s texts that Olórin doesn’t arrive in the Grey Havens as Gandalf until about a thousand years into the Third Age.

@@anni.68 it immediately came to my mind. Anyone who loves the movie and hates this show, would think “oh boy!!” I didn’t say they were connected to each other. It was a weak way to connect to a better storyline.
Tom Bombadil, Barrow-wights, Ent-wives... Yep, totally not plucking things from the lore and dropping them randomly in the show there.
Bombadil should be roaming the world without a care; the only important thing the Entwives did in the Second Age was to lose their gardens (or even their lives) to Sauron's destruction.
"I do not care at all if they are important or accomplish something."
Yeah I imagine you don't. Key jangling of this sort is enough for you apparently. I suppose the Balrog cameo in the first season made you very happy.
"Who cares?"
I do.
Yeah...
"Do not laugh! Tolkien, Letter 131).
„Amazon has a relatively free hand when it comes to adding something, since, as I said, very few details are known about this time span. They retain a veto over everything that concerns Tolkien." (Tom Shippey)

@@anni.68 This show is pure fanfiction and has nothing to do with Tolkien. What exactly are you trying to argue? The Tolkien estate won’t give the full rights to the books for this exact reason because people don’t know how to be faithful to the books and what was actually written. They’d rather make shit up and cash in on Tolkiens name.
@@FaithAckerman-cb4oo There is no "book" about the period of time season 1 is set in. Just some notes. The big events of the Second Age start with season 2. So, yes, of course the show is "fan fiction" and no rights could ever change that, because there is so little source material. Anybody who complains that RoP is not true to the source material just admits that he/she does not know the source material.
Without Tolkien's "other minds and hands" (way better expression than fan fiction") there would NEVER be any Second Age adaptation, no matter who tries to make it.
@@anni.68 yeah there is. It’s called the Silmarillion. You should read it sometime. The Tolkien estate don’t want to sell the rights to the actual books for this exact reason.
And it seems that they are setting up the Easterlings and Haradrim for season 3 which is nice, for anyone who knows what goes on with that region down the line after the destruction of Ost-in-Edhil and the defeat of the elves in Eregion.

Uh, Transformers One trailer?
celebrimbor falling for saurons trick after he knows what sauron did getting them to make the elven ones is not great.
I think that Sauron appears as a another for Celebrimbor or whoever would recognize his face... if not it's kind of a conundrum yeah
