Very nice explanation! It caused by environmental conditions (high temp - high humidity) + negative grounding + sodium ions migration from glass. It can be mitigated via float grounding connections as well as by using good EVA and back-sheet to reduce leakage current also by using low sodium glass.

Potential induced Degradation PID induced there is induced current and effectiveness of solar cell and module and high humidity and performance loss with less generated output power When induced voltage are present in the solar cell impact on solar performer efficiency with generated power . Prevention 1- more amount of leakage current then there is burning of solar module/ pannel due to high voltage are present in solar module .......stay safe with safe future 🙏
