Indian solar manufacturers have a long way to catch onto and the import duty should be reduced over a period of time. But many times china suddenly starts dumping in huge quantities as you are also aware currently Chinese manufacturing capacity is much higher than infact the global demand so they are running new techniques to dump the panels. We have seen therefore a significantly high reduction in prices just recently. Also, India's PLI scheme is still far behind Chinese subsidies especially the indirect tricks. 2. The solar companies from China don't sell in losses forever they get bailed out or their loans get waived off by the government. Say the raw material costs 60 cr and value added in china is 40cr. China imports raw material at 60 and then gives subsidized raw material within china at 50 cr. By this the 40cr value add in labor, profits, local electric consumption stays in china from which the government takes taxes and the cycle continues. So effectively the government is in loss not the company but still many times companies take up losses in their balance sheet. 3. The FTA route is something I completely agree with you on. The government should not allow for that. 4. The export to USA is actually something that I also agree with you somewhat that it should not be allowed at the cost of the pli scheme. Those who are exporting to the US should be out of the pli scheme. But those who are not getting benefit of pli scheme should be allowed to export fully. 5. I think that the government has the right to subsidize only the panels brought from India as the sales of these panels are also at the cost of Indian publics taxes. So it should not be contributing to some other country's economy especially one we have regular conflict with. I really appreciate all those who are working in the field of solar as I think this is the real path to riches for our country and the world as energy is the real currency. Solar is my passion field and I also think that given the growth of green hydrogen solar capacity in India will skyrocket the moment green hydrogen becomes viable as a fuel for cars and can be used as a substitute to oil. I have researched the in and out of this industry because of this passion and realised that one of the core strategic advantage in this industry is capital and if the government is promoting this I am actually proud of it rather than being against it. I see the Indian solar manufacturing going 10-20x within the next couple of years if there is right policy. And very soon it would not need pli scheme as the complete supply chain becomes indigenous. Adani has scale of 4GW while chinese companies have 100X scale - 400GW. So, to achieve China price, they'll have to produce as much as China and that means selling to as many countries as possible. Govt is not giving money so Adani can subsidise domestic purchases. Govt is giving funds to help them achieve production efficiency.
