Thanks for showing the stretch bars Mill Hill kit. I'm enjoying watching you as I have an Mill Hill ornament... haven't done one before. Hoping you'll show how to do with out stretch bars too. Also like watching you with magnifying 🤓 glasses. Your excellent at talking and teaching me things.❤❤❤. Love your channel and content. Thanks very much❤❤❤
Thank you Kim! Glad you like the video ❤️Just found some larger stretcher bars at a Goodwill and someone told me I can find 4x4 for smaller ornaments 🤗
Those stretcher bars are also good for doing ornaments, when you have a small piece of fabric that won't fit in a hoop! You may end up tapping those tacks in all the way so your thread doesn't get caught on them. Happy stitching!
My first time here and I heard love the cold, lots of coffee. I learned several things and I like your projects - and you! Like and subscribe was a no brainer☺️ I’m still struggling to find the right lighting and magnification so thank you for the demo.
I did the Red Bird Sampler (Bent Creek) a couple of years ago and love putting it up for the winter when I take all the Santas down. It's just such a pretty piece and I'm sure you'll agree after you stitch yours. You appear to have a lot of stitching in your future. Enjoy!
I have a pair of those magnifying glasses. I don’t really use them anymore. I’ve settled on a Daylight floor lamp with a magnifier. The nose piece on mine was different than yours and was so uncomfortable. I took off the nose piece and started using the headband and they gave me a headache and like you, I couldn’t wear my glasses with them. But I do like those flip ups you have. Those might work well for retreats. Great video!
You go girl! Tin is gorgeous!!! I have the led lights that wraps around your neck, also rechargeable. I eear the #5 lenses all from Amazon. I'm yired of Mowing twice a week ARGH 😫.😅. GIV E FALL N WINTER. I don't mind shovelinge, I have a short dog(pictered in the circle to the right). Thanks to you I just ordered the pumpkin Mill Hill Kit n the frames n the tacs. Thanks you dtarted something. See your daughter will always need you 😂!! Thanks for sharing all you do😅! Debbie in CT
GMTA! I have a neck noodle too❤️it’s comfy and I love the different light settings. I’m busy getting ready for the yard sale and all I wanna do is stitch 😭
Thanks for showing the stretcher bar set up for the beautiful pumpkin Mill Hill kit, very helpful. I look forward to seeing your progress! I enjoyed your video. 👍
I tap the tacks all the way down then put tape over the tacks. Your thread won’t catch on the tacks and you can write on the tape, like “top” or mark centers, etc. I use paper tape available from pharmacies in the dressing/ band-aid section.
Thank-you for sharing about the small stretcher bars I really need them. Congratulations on all your future projects, thank-you for sharing your stash with us.
I use clip on magnifiers that I purchased several years ago. They are a 4 diopter, and are hard to find. So I am very possessed about where they are. However, my roommate suggested I try #4 reading glasses. She gave me one of her extra pairs, and I love them. However, I had cataract surgery and I have 20/20 distance sight, so the readers are great for stitching. Great video.
The stretcher bars are a great idea for perforated paper. I use larger stretcher bars for my punch needle projects. I also have the same magnifier glasses but like you they do not work well with my glasses. I prefer the magna clips or my Ott Light with magnification.
I use the vision aid the one in a blue case I got it from Amazon I also use glasses which I wear at the same time there is a elastic band you can use to hold more securely. It has the light and the same box of lenses. I use the 3.5 cause I work on 32 count, I'm 73. I find when the light is in full power it shines nicely on my stitches, even being under my ott light. I also ordered 3 more 3.5 lenses. I really like mine my son and grandkids laugh at me but what ever works lol
I have stretcher bars in sizes from 6" to 28" - I used them extensively for doing crewel embroidery (wool yarn on fabric) projects in the 80's and 90's! Could get a taught surface and did not have to worry about hoop marks on stitching/fabric. Currently have a cross stitch stocking on stretcher bars - but it is in time-out due to being an 18-count navy aida fabric that I am not enjoying working on!
I’ve got some misbehaving stitches in time out too! 😏I need some motivation to complete a few. Do you use a specific tack for the stretcher bars? Can you take them apart and reuse them? I think I’ll start collecting them for some projects but this is my first experience with them.
@@Sarahthenorthwoodsstitcher I use regular thumbtacks - and use a small hammer to put them in and remove them, if needed. Sometimes they break and I just use another one. Yes, I reuse the stretcher bars by taking them apart and reconfiguring in needed lengths - and reuse tacks as needed, too.
Hi Sarah! So exciting to see we are doing a bucket dive again this week. I agree with you about the Goodwill prices and it seems, at least here in Texas, that they are going more toward buying overstock items instead of donation items and the prices are higher. Sometimes their prices, on clothing at least, are higher than Walmart. Since I have lost so much weight, I am having to buy all new clothes and they are so ridiculously expensive. Thanks for a wonderful floss tube again. Sorting all those left out beads does not sound like much fun, but definitely sounds better than mowing lawn in the heat and humidity. I tried the stretcher bars for Mill Hill kits and don't like them at all personally, but hope they work out for you. Take care and happy stitching.
Oh how I long for winter again! Less outdoor work and more stitch time! Thrift stores are struggling with utilities increasing but I can’t pay more for used items than I would at Walmart or yard sales. It’s been a real hunt lately 😒
I’m going to have to order me some of those stretchy bars that looked interesting I’m not sure if I like separating all those dates though can we just throw them all in one thing and hope for the best ha ha have a great day. Love the videos as usual.
I hope you make a video taking the thumb tacks out. I had a horrible time trying not to tear the paper, so I'm back to stitching paper projects in hand. Love your videos!! (a measuring tape or ruler makes finding the center very quick and simple.)
I have those exact magnifiers but theyre older & require AAAs. Make them a bit heavier. I placed a bit of moleskin on the nose piece. I still use them, but like the USB option better.
Just found your video, very fun to watch and enjoy your fun finds. Would it be possible for you to turn up your volume? I had to use cc to be able to hear you. Blessings Claudia
Have a pair! Helps see the cloth great but cannot see my pattern because of removing me glasses! I too, have bifocals! I have some stretcher bars but have not used them! Great video as always!
I do not sort the beads right away. I pick the ones i need while stitching. I put beads from each packet in little plates or sticky mat, usually beads are easily distinguished inside a packet. I sort leftovers befor put to my storage. This way i can save a lot of time
I have little bead containers that I sort them into then label so I can order more to make extra projects. I’ll have to show this in a video…I have a few😂
I don't want to burst your bubble, but I don't believe the stretcher bars will work for this project. I tried using them for one of the Mill Hill Nativity pieces, and I found there weren't enough open lines available to stitch the piece. I suggest you count how many rows are needed top to bottom and side to side. Taking the paper off was a challenge, too, to not destroy it. I think the bars would work for a smaller stitched piece that could be centered. I hope that makes sense.

Thanks for demonstrating the magnifying glasses and the mini stretch bars. I always learn something new from your videos.
😊 Thank you so much!
Thank you for sharing all your interesting sorting and pairing. Happy stitching.
❤️Thank you! Glad you like it!
Hi Sara, I've just found your floss tube and want to say how much I enjoyed it.
I shall look at your past videos starting at number 1.
Good luck
Anne
Thank you Anne! I’ve been putting out a new video every Monday. Welcome to the tribe!❤️🤗
Yeah for basket dives! Loved seeing your "to be stitched" charts!
So many stitches…so few arms to stitch with 😜

Great tip!
Working for the man 😂
Me no likely…I need to win the lottery!
I love all your stuff and I think you have more than anyone I know.
I’d like to meet my twin…every one has one supposedly 😉
My first time here and I heard love the cold, lots of coffee. I learned several things and I like your projects - and you! Like and subscribe was a no brainer☺️ I’m still struggling to find the right lighting and magnification so thank you for the demo.

Fun Video. nice frame for doing that Mill Hill, good basket set-up. Ugh, separating beads.
I don’t find separating beads very calming but it has to be done 😏
Loved the video Sarah! It was fun sorting with you and looking at new goodies!
Thanks for keeping me company 😅

Awww, thank you Debra🤗
Thanks for showing the stretcher bar set up for the beautiful pumpkin Mill Hill kit, very helpful. I look forward to seeing your progress! I enjoyed your video. 👍
I need to get some stitch time and get this done😃
Thanks for sharing so much, I would love to shop with you sometime! What collectors we are; we better live to 150!
Anytime! 🤗👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I got my tape from Amazon, same tape but I also use it for framing. Good stuff!!😃
I enjoyed your fabric selection process. Thank so much for another fun video Sarah.
Thank you 😊 Glad you liked it
Thank-you for sharing about the small stretcher bars I really need them. Congratulations on all your future projects, thank-you for sharing your stash with us.
A friend who uses them regularly says you don’t need a hammer…I may have been a bit overthinking it🤓

I have yet to try punch needle. It’s on
My “To Do” list❤️
I’m making up my travel bag now to match some patterns with fabric. Can’t wait to visit Lakeside Stitches thanks to your recommendation.
I’m itching to go again soon!☺️
Loved the pairing up, magna clip try on, and stretcher bars assembly and beginning to stitch mill hill. Great!
Now if I can just sit and stitch that Mill Hill😅

If it works, I gets!!! These setups aren’t exactly sexy but they do demand respect 😂

Glad you enjoyed it!
Love your videos, so many wonderful projects!
Thank you!😀
Stitches N Things was my LNS in Fenton MI. Sadly it closed earlier this year!
😢I remember now, their sales were amazing. Sad to see an LNS go
Sarah, they had some pretty blue fabrics at Fiberlicious
Oh, you enabler you🤗On my way😂chair shopping!

The bin of to do projects - oh my - it never seems to end. Looks like you found a lot of fabrics to match up to all those fun charts.
😪So much to do and not enough time 😒
@@Sarahthenorthwoodsstitcher That is for sure!
I’m going to have to order me some of those stretchy bars that looked interesting I’m not sure if I like separating all those dates though can we just throw them all in one thing and hope for the best ha ha have a great day. Love the videos as usual.
Thank you Bonnie🤗
I would love to have this for stitching!!
I need to stop shopping and start some stitching 😅
I hope you make a video taking the thumb tacks out. I had a horrible time trying not to tear the paper, so I'm back to stitching paper projects in hand. Love your videos!! (a measuring tape or ruler makes finding the center very quick and simple.)
I’ll show the tack removal, I can’t say I pressed them very hard into the wood ❤️
You can get a 4x4 Those are harder to find. I use them for the smaller perforated paper Mill Hill kits
I think I’m hooked! Just found a 12x12 at Goodwill! No to hunt for 4x4
I have those exact magnifiers but theyre older & require AAAs. Make them a bit heavier. I placed a bit of moleskin on the nose piece. I still use them, but like the USB option better.
I find these to be very light but some have said they are heavy…wonder if they have the battery type rather than the usb?🤔
Just found your video, very fun to watch and enjoy your fun finds. Would it be possible for you to turn up your volume? I had to use cc to be able to hear you. Blessings Claudia
Welcome! Can I ask if you were using a tv, cell phone or computer? I can’t seem to adjust volume on my end😔
Have a pair! Helps see the cloth great but cannot see my pattern because of removing me glasses! I too, have bifocals! I have some stretcher bars but have not used them! Great video as always!
It’s a learning curve for me with these. Bifocals aren’t fun🤓when stitching
Great video

I cannot make the magnifiers work with my bifocals. So I invested in a Halo light, which works best for me.
I know someone who loves their Halo, I might try that too!
Hi Sarah, where did you find the smaller pair of magnifiers? Thanks
Those are called Magni Clips and you can find them on Amazon ❤️
I don't want to burst your bubble, but I don't believe the stretcher bars will work for this project. I tried using them for one of the Mill Hill Nativity pieces, and I found there weren't enough open lines available to stitch the piece. This has a border of open lines around the stitch area so it should work😃
I had the same issue….couldn’t get to the stitches near the edge if the paper. I was bummed since it seemed like the perfect solution.
I have these and it hurts my head and too heavy for my nose . Hardly use them at all
Are they battery or usb? These are usb only and feel really light but I haven’t used for very long
My I think batteries and feels heavy
I have them and they really hurt my nose. I don't like them much.
Did you try with or without the nose pads?
I found I could slightly bend the nose piece to make it more comfy
