    These always kill it for me, I never leave home without Traditional, Guide's Choice, Soft Hackle, and Flashback Hare's Ear nymphs. Probably my favorite fly. Sometimes I gink unweighted soft hackles and fish them in the film. Any variation, they never let me down.

    Hi Davie, thanks for the reminder, I have to tie some of these in different patterns for our February run of Brown trout as they run up to their spawning grounds. The naturals work well in the early runs before we switch to egg patterns. I have found that I loose less flies when I tie them on the barbless jig hooks. These flies seem to work in so many variances and are really worth filling up your fly box. Cheers mate. Harera

    Heard grayling like light blue. So I'll try this pattern with light blue thread as well. Thanks for this video too.

    Beautifully tied Davie. You're a joy to watch. Had a wee go at trying to dye Marabou feathers for the Golden Ace fly yesterday. Took me a couple of goes to get the shade just right. Its all about trial and error. Added too much dye the first time but got it right in the end. Going to knock out a dozen or so today. Thanks for the tips. 👍.

    Hi Davie, what an idea (I was not capable to got;-)) to wind the fitting hackle through the turns of fitting dubbing at the front. It makes a great looking fly. Thank you very much for sharing this and of course for all your other tying videos.
    All the best
    Peter

    Hi Davie lonely little one! Do you think this type of fly would work on still waters? I was just thinking i bet no one uses them and on a day when the normal nymphs, buzzers and big ugly ones are not working then a something out of the norm may? Have you ever tried on a still water large or small?

    • @sirmegallot3276
      @sirmegallot3276 3 года назад +2

      100% these will work on still water. They are super impressionistic and look like many different bugs. You might not need a beadhead if you are fishing sinking line though

    Hello, pretty little nymph but I wonder if fishing with a jig is still fly fishing! Have a nice Sunday.

    • @sirmegallot3276
      @sirmegallot3276 3 года назад +1

      You bet it is! Dry fly purists may stick their noses up, but flies like these are fished around the world to great success.

    • @yvessultan6286
      @yvessultan6286 3 года назад

      @@sirmegallot3276 I have no doubts, but for me, it is no longer fly fishing but a "toc fishing" with animation. I'm not particularly a purist, fishing as well dry, streamer or drowned. Everyone has their own fly fishing design.

      Hi Yves Sultan,
      I can understand what you are saying and I thought very much like this when I first saw a gold bead being used though I use this method mainly for fishing for grayling that feed right on the bottom and these flies get down to them...I am first a dry fly fisher as this is how I started fly fishing, I would never start fishing until I saw a fish rising as I thought this was the only way to fish as I never new any better..The first flies I tyed were dry flies as well but I do though like to fish different stretches of the river in different ways as it allows me to enjoy the whole river rather than fish the main parts which can get busy at times..I'm glad you liked the fly and thank you for the good question..
      All the very best Davie

      @@DavieMcPhail Hi,
      Thank you for your reply. In fact, I am a bit like you, I like to vary the pleasures according to the season and the place of the river that I fish. However, in this specific case I prefer to fish in a classic way, in a wet fly with a train of 2 or 3 flies, the tip one can also be a model of this type to "scrape" the bottom, it seems to me to stay more in the field of fly fishing. But it is true that this type of lure is very effective on thymallus and, also, on barbel, a fish which provides a very strong sensation as its defense is powerful.
      In the meantime, I am enjoying your editing videos which not only allow me to discover a lot of models that I do not know, especially in the models for salmon, and which also allow me to progress as your explanations are clear and the images precise. And I'm still impatiently awaiting the release of a new video. Thank you again for the pleasure you have given us. Best regards.
      Y Sultan
