    Davie when this video first came out I tied them all. I used the first one with copper and natural pheasant. I took six fish very quickly, he had none, but I finally put him out of his misery and gave him a couple. Still one of the best nymphs in my box.

    Hello Davie, I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I especially likes the nymph ties with the metallic Madeira thread. I tie PT nymphs using a wide array of colors in my selection of tails and the Madeira threads substituted for a peacock herl thorax very much intrigues me.

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  9 месяцев назад

      Hi Michael,
      If you wind the pheasant tail fibre the same way as you wind your rib then you'll only catch in the odd fibre so by winding it the opposite way you will protect it and catch in more fibres, it also sits out a lot more..

    I have x-small Copper ultra wire and a heavy duty ceramic bobbin holder, but every 4-5 wraps the wire breaks. Any suggestions?
    Thank you,
    Joe

    • @neilmcpherson9140
      @neilmcpherson9140 4 года назад

      I had the same issue. The problem is metal fatigue which causes the copper to crack and fracture. I found the if I allowed the wire in the bobbin to hang and untwist after a couple of turns then it is manageable. Also you need to feed the wire, so you don't create a fracture point where the wire touches the rim of the bobbin. I have a couple of ceramic bobbin holders but they are not smooth enough, the Tiemco is the smoothest by far.

      Hi Loyalist 1407,
      Fishing them either way will work though allowing them to drift naturally with an odd twitch here and there is more natural for buzzers.
      All the very best Davie

    Where can we get the wire?

      Hi Norman,
      I used to buy the fine copper wire from Veniards but they have stopped selling it, the nearest to it is the xtra small UTC wire which I have used in place of the original wire..In the bigger flies you could get away with a small sized wire..
      All the very best Davie..

    I'm thinking you should call that the "Bucky Shrimp" in honor of your daughter's rabbit

      9:51 Yes, accept no imitations. Use Bucky Dutch Blue rabbit dubbing for all your hoglouse bugs. Another simple, beautifully tied nymph.
