Number 3 just makes me happy, and now that Costco updated their Verifone credit card terminals to that sound from the old, unpleasant "BEEP BEEP BEEP", that number 3 sound just fills the air
I recently visited the us, and every card terminal makes this damn sound! Here in Mexico it seems like they all use a simple "beep" don't know why, since many terminals here are verifone as well
All of these are too long and some, particularly the later ones (after #3) may get lost amid the noise of the checkout experience. A simple "cha-doink!" or something that is a neutral/mildly positive click or beep would be the best compromise between positivity, succinctness, and catching the customers attention so that they know to remove their card. The current sound in stores is harsh, and though it catches the customer's attention it gives an immediate impression that something went wrong with their transaction and creates disturbance and confusion.
Are you kidding? Is this the best they could come up with? First off the video doesn't show the most important of the sounds/tones- that is when there is an error/problem thus requiring you to remove and then swipe your card instead of using insert/chip. (The Bloomberg article that embedded/linked to this video was specifically discussing the delay and problems people encounter when user inserts for Chip but instead needs to swipe). 2nd , instead of five or six different sounds all we need is ONE sound / tone to signal a successful transaction (or worst-case two sounds if there is SOME SPECIFIC NEED) . How could this company be so stupid? do people use five different sounds for their phone ringer or text tone? What about the tone for their alarm clock, does it constantly change or is it consistent? Have one sound that people universally recognize anytime they're using your companies devices.
